Hi Everyone! We are back on our 1986 Porsche 3.2 Carrera! Last time we got things done Top Side, in this episode hook up everything under the engine. But I kinda screwed up a couple things :( We are getting closer to the start-up!! Here's a link to that Ring Plier Kit: The Ring Plier kit: amzn.to/3gDDw33 This is the link to the super cool rotatey-ratchet I used in the video: amzn.to/3kTdZ8S Enjoy!!

Being able to deal with problems in a positive way is important to learn and relearn! You are making mistakes and you are having to deal with them. There are very few times when any task is performed flawlessly. This project is complex and you have not done this regularly and so steps are being done out of order. Shops that perform complex projects on a regular basis will have no fewer missteps. Franny the most important thing is that you are progressing! Most of the strongest lessons come from mistakes. You are setting a great example by being calm and collected in your videos!

Don’t be afraid to bend the the throttle rod to get in if you forget to do it when you install the tranny. Also of note you’re not going to bend that shift shaft, it’s made of hardened steel and just dropping ont the hole in the tunnel isn’t enough to do it. I’ve done it for many years without any incident.

What a great video. This is the first time I've see one of yours. It just popped up. I watch a lot of car vids. My favorite subject for the last 50+ years. I didn't realize you were working on an aircooled Porsche till you hooked up the heater vents. Like the VWs the air just gets pushed into the cabin by the engine fan, I think. Have to keep your winter coat and mittens on in the car in winter and have a towel to keep the windscreen clear. Lol I'll be watching you!
@HeidiandFranny4 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the channel! Yes, air-cooled and heated although the heat in this car is great! Nice and toasty even on the coldest days (did you see the snow tires fitted?). I've driven it through several winters and never went cold :)

@@HeidiandFranny My sister had a Beetle, not sure but my have been a Super Beetle, back in the early 70s, and I had to push here out of the drive and alley in the snow. Not as good in it as a lot of people said they were. Snow tires may have helped. Do they have a fan for the defrost? I don't remember on the Beetle. I've watched several of your vids now and I really like the. I watched your house tour and I thought you could easily get lost in there. Nice BIG house. Lol. Nice job! I sort of thought you would use silicon grease on the bellcrank and ball ends. Now you have a nice list of items to remember for the "next time." I noted at 24:48 while you were replacing the oil line that the tab on the bumper skirt (with locating bracket) seems to be red under the sandblasted white. Was that part previously replaced or are we just seeing primer? Everything looks great! Looking forward to the start.
@HeidiandFranny4 жыл бұрын
Oh, I *think* there might have been an altercation or disagreement with a parking barrier in the cars past life. I think that is a replacement part from a red car. There is some other funkyness back there too, but the fender is just fine.

It is the stock shifter, but with a Sein shift kit to give some spring loading to the 3-4 plane. It is mounted on the shift tower (not in the transmission).
