It's amazing how many of these actors were able to conceal their shortness or tallness in stature, during their acting careers! At 77, I have seen a few of them, in person, & knew that they were much shorter then they appeared on screen! Even some tall actors had to hide their extreme height, for fear of being too tall for female co-stars! Great job!

I have to say Mark for actors born before 1940 I seemed to know a lot. Mostly from old movies growing up as a kid. This looks like it has taken off in the right direction mate and I hope the trend explodes from now on. It's so reassuring that most of the popular actors ever filmed are of normal height and not extremely tall. There is hope for us yet mate! While I enjoyed the height comparisons, there's no way that Jack Webb was 5-feet 10-inches tall. That was the whole, long-running joke about his prolific radio and television career: he went into acting because he didn't meet the height requirement for his dream job in the LAPD. Seeing Joe Besser in this video reminds of the Stooges film in which Moe described him as being 5'5" by 5'5"😂. Another fun fact: When Leonard Nimoy joined the cast of Mission: Impossible after Star Trek was cancelled, he went from being the tallest Trek cast member to the shortest on M:I. Greg Morris was 6'2", Peter Graves was 6'3", and Peter Lupus was 6'4" (there was no female cast member when Nimoy joined).

@@DataWatch. Same applies to part 1. Great videos by the way. I’m a fan of Clint Eastwood who stood 6.4. I saw a picture of him recently with the actor Jason Momao who is 6.4. I know Clint is 92 and I know people lose height as they grow older but in the pics of him with Momoa he barely reached Momoas Shoulder with the top of his head. It appears that Clint is around 5.8 or less now. That’s a lot of height to lose. I did think it could be the angle of the picture but there were several images and it’s clear that Clint has sadly lost a lot of height.

One must remember that everyone SHRINKS as they age. I was a touch over 6 feet in my youth. At 57, I'm now 5'11" and 3/4s.(same height as Elvis😉). Most of these actors, if they passed away in their 50's or older, would have lost 1/4 to 1/2 inch in height. It's also interesting to note how much taller these performers looked on film.

Some of them are just taken from IMDb. It depends if I can find any evidence to the contrary. That’s how I do it. I’ll look at everyone, study images with other actors, take footwear into account then make a decision based on the evidence. If I can’t disprove their IMDb listing which should be put in by themselves, then I go with it

You missed a few. Humphrey Bogart at 6 foot exactly and of course Marrion Wayne Morrison aka John "Duke" Wayne at a TRUE 6 foot 4 1/4 inches on his union card, and Mickey Rooney at 5 foot 4 1/2 inches, and Lon Chaney Jr. was 6 foot 4 inches on his draft board ID and his Actor's Equity Card and was easily 8 inches taller than Burgess Meredith at 5 foot 6 inches in "Of Mice and Men" (1939), Douglas Fairbanks Sr. and Jr. both just a bit over 6 foot with Sr. pushing 6'2", Silent Cowboy Star and friend of my cousin Wyatt Earp, Tom Mix at 5 foot 11 1/2 inches, and the TALLEST actor with an Equity Card Silent star Harrison Ford (yes, they "recycled" his name!) at 6 feet 8 inches! There was a French silent actor at 7 feet+ before WWI. He was one of the first actors they built sets "around". They put a "trough" in the floor for him to stand in while normal sized people stood on the set floor-remarkable for the time.

It’s definitely subjective. He claimed 6’2 but didn’t look 6’2 next to 6’2 guys. Think celeb heights have him at 6’1 and a quarter, which I think is generous

Is 5'9(175 cm) short for a man nowadays? I'm 5'9½(176.5cm) and I feel slightly below average tbh I feel kinda short compared to most youngsters It bugs me a lot I only wish I were roughly 5'10(178 cm) So that I'd feel average 5'10 seems to be the average male height nowadays
