Ancient Germanic people believed that children born under an eclipse had a special connection to nature, and supernatural powers. The woman at the end was running to become one with her spirit animal (for lack of better words for it).

In the Nordic countries the church has been reduced to a ceremonial institution for weddings and funerals. The actual church members(about 55-75 % depending on which country) visit a church about twice a year. You could say Christianity is in a nursing home and only gets visited on Christmas and Easter. But the folklore or the pagan ways never really died out so it's really easy to pick up the old ways when you feel the need to believe in something and Christianity is in it's final days.

The English lyrics are bogus. Heilung themselves said in an interview that very few of the bracteates have ever been translated. The actual lyrics such anoana, tuwe tuwe and more have no modern translation. The language is only assumed to be some form of proto-Germanic, pre-Scandinavian. Most of the "words" inscribed on the bracteates may not be words at all but a form of shorthand for complete sentences. If so, it's a code no one has cracked. But people saw the video and made things up to sort of match it and posted it on the internet and other people fell for it. The interview with Heilung is available here on YT. Worth looking up.

I love them so so much..... I was so so so so so happy to see you guys listening to them. the young girl was the most powerful shaman according to them because of her birth during an eclipse they thought she could fend off Ragnarök otherwise known as the (apocalypse) but the inscription for where they came up with this ritual from most of it was destroyed but what I said before about her being born during an eclipse and her fending off Armageddon was the only thing that was actually known and the reason for the eclipse thing is if you know anything about Ragnarök it was said that in simplified terms when the sun is blotted from the sky that would mark the starting of Ragnarök, and since Anoana was born during this "Eclipse" and she was born as a shaman they seen the eclipse as the beginning of Ragnarök and when the end never came they seen that as Anoana having saved them from Armageddon...

@vinandsori They use Old Norse, Saxon, Frisian, they've even used Antient Celt from time to time. I know of ONE person that speaks Old Norse, Saxon, and Frisian fluently. Every member of the band is pagan. Some a re neopagan, some reconstructionist, some paleopagan. But pagan none the less. They are listened to by Norse, Celt, Wicca, Druid (yes, they still exist)...... The song's title roughly translates to "Mystery" and is in Old Norse. The song describes ancient rituals and gatherings, using imagery of nature and elements like fire, wind, and water. It takes the listener on a journey through a world filled with spirits, where people communicate with each other and with the natural world through song and dance. Although the lyrics may not have a clear and linear narrative, the song attempts to evoke a sense of ancient wisdom and the sacredness of traditional rituals. Through its hypnotic rhythms and haunting vocals, "Anoana" invites the listener to contemplate the mystery and beauty of the natural world, and to connect with spiritual forces that transcend our everyday reality. It is about the mysteries of life, spirit, connectedness..... Actual spirituality and not something imposed by an institution. Sori, we have genetic memory (basis for reincarnation), so those sounds, sights, even something a wonder while looking at the moon, is there for a reason. Just saying. The lyrics, in English, are: The king of the gods is eternal and powerful He created the world The king of the gods is the lord of the sky He created the world In the mystery of the universe The light of the mystery In the mystery of the universe The light of the mystery The sun shines on the land The old age of the earth is gone The sky is full of stars The water flows through the valleys The fire burns in the night The wind blows through the trees The gods are watching The world is alive The people are strong and brave The warriors fight The earth is our home The sun rises in the east The moon shines in the sky The stars guide our way The king of the gods is eternal and powerful He created the world The king of the gods is the lord of the sky He created the world In the mystery of the universe The light of the mystery In the mystery of the universe The light of the mystery The Old Norse being: AþilR rikiþiR ai erilidi uha ifalh Fahd tiade elifi an it AþilR rikiþiR ai ladawarijaR anoana Fahd tiade elifi an it Aelwao anoana tuwatuwa Tau liu anoana tuwatuwa Aelwao anoana tuwatuwa Tau liu anoana tuwatuwa Ul fos lau lalgwu ped Ul uld aul lei elw ath Ret lae tys oth rei gui Au au la oa sejs zul Au al har has ka til Az ha ir el unoz leit Una dz gui uiþuluhng Uoiwhug dit la la Lih lal ur usk gla thu Lal lalalati gþlu Til ur ur ur ur gel Thul so oth lau ia tyl Li rai wui il dai tu Han uth a iur el al Dan an er ui al eiz An ra tiu an ku ak Athilr rikithir ai eril idi uha ijalh Fahd tiade elifi an it Athilr rikithir ai landawariar ano ana Fahd tiade elifi an it Aelwao anoana tuwatuwa Tau liu anoana tuwatuwa Aelwao anoana tuwatuwa Tau liu anoana tuwatuwa

Those lyrics are bogus. There are no translations for most of the bracteates. Hielung themselves said so in an interview you can watch here on YT. They made up a meaning for them and said so. We don't even know if the letter in the elder futhark on the bracteates are words or are some kind of shorthand for longer words, abbreviations or just the first letters of words. The Romans did something similar on many inscriptions, just using the first letter of each word from a complete sentence or longer.

@@franzwohlgemuth2002 Or you could just look it up. You've already proven to be a bit confused about dates, runes types and more. Perhaps you simply don't understand Dr Crawford. He is fluent in everything from proto-Indo European to modern Scandinavian. And he has *never* addressed the bracteates on his channel. He has never, to my knowledge even mentioned them, and I have been a subscriber to his channel for years. You can remain willfully ignorant, if you choose. But you clearly have some incorrect preconceived notions that are making it impossible for you to understand. You can start correcting that by studying the progression from PIE through proto-Germanic to proto-Norse to Old Norse and more. That might help you to grasp the time period we are dealing with here.

@@GeraldH-ln4dv Svingerud Rune stone has a few letters that are in Elder, but so does the Younger. Svingerudsteinen is the ONLY stone found by archeologists that dates to before 300 AD. And dates as late as 250 CE. Third Century. Meaning they are probably an early form of Saxon, not Norse. It comes from the Gold Bracteates of the Migration Period. Which is after the Rune stone mentioned. That have been translated for a very long time.
@GeraldH-ln4dv
@GeraldH-ln4dv 2 ай бұрын
@@franzwohlgemuth2002 The only stone found so far and the Svingerud stone is in proto-Germanic, not proto-Norse. It was only preserved because it was found under soil. Still exposed stones that old will have weathered to make the runes invisible. And you already proved my point. Any translation of the runes on the bracteates using old Norse is absolutely in error. The runes on the bracteates are elder Futhark. You are confusing the known letters of the runes with the languages those runes represent when written. Runes are older than the language you claim is used on the bracteates. Runes were used by multiple proto-Germanic peoples, not just the northern branch of proto-Germanic which became proto-Norse. That seems to be the point you're not getting. The bracteates are older than Old Norse, which developed from proto-Norse by about the 8th century. Some may be older the the development of proto-Norse, and some weren't even found in areas where proto-Norse was spoken. They are instead areas of the West Germanic branch, which includes proto-Frisian and proto-Frankish at that time. Some are even found in areas that would have been East Germanic proto-Germanic, i.e. proto-Gothic, proto-Vandalic and proto-Burgundian. The older bracteates used by Heilung up to several centuries older than Old Norse and come from all over northern Europe, not just in Scandinavia. In Scandinavia, the beginnings of proto-Norse dates to just around the same time as the earliest bracteates. But proto-Norse translations can apply only to bracteates found in what is now Scandinavia. So, either you are confusing the letters with the multiple languages they are used to represent or you're just desperate to not be proved wrong. Either way, I think we're done. I don't see any point in following you down this hole you keep digging for yourself.

Ymir, also known as Aurgelmir, is a key figure in the Norse origin myth. He is the forefather of all Jötnar and is described in some mythology as the first sentient being. After he was born from ice and fire, he was nursed by a cosmic heifer named Audhumla, who also emerged from the water. Odin and his fellow gods killed Ymir and created earth of his dead body, and so it all started

Only a few words like anoana have a guessed at meaning and others like tuwa may not even be words at all, but abbreviations of full sentences using just the first letters. We don't even know for sure what language it is. The runes are elder Futhark, but the language they represent could be any one of a number of proto-Germanic languages from proto-Frisian to proto-Scandinavian and more. @@franzwohlgemuth2002 Elder Futhark goes back to the 2nd century in Scandinavian inscriptions. Are you thinking of the Younger Futhark which began to appear in Scandinavia in the 7th century? The bracteates date back to the Migration Era as early as the beginning of the 4th century, usually in gold, and up the high medieval 12th century, which were mostly silver. The ones Heilung used were the earliest. All of early bracteates with inscriptions and not just images use the elder Futhark. One of the most common inscriptions is the elder Futhark ᚨᛚᚢ - alu, which was erroneously thought to mean ale. But it turns out that it has a relation to amulet. The proto-Germanic *aluh meant amulet or taboo, from the Proto-Germanic *ahl, to protect. The Gothic word for temple, ahls, also has the same origin. The word has even appeared in old North Etruscan/Raetian usage meaning protection. The DR BR42 bracteate has the inscription ᚺᛟᚢᚨᛉ (houaz) ᛚᚨᚦᚢ (laþu) ᚨᚨᛞᚢᚫᚫᚫᛚᛁᛁᚨ (aaduaaaliia). Aaduaaaliia is clearly not a word. We have no translation. Houaz is clearly proto-Germanic, but it may correspond to the later proto-Norse hávi which was an early name of Wodan meaning High One. Hávi evolved from whatever houaz meant in proto-German.

I've always thought that Christianity should be more in touch with the environment and the world around us. Biblically, all created things belong to God and that we are accountable to Him as stewards of the creation. God commissions us to rule over the creation in a way that sustains, protects, and enhances his works so that all creation may fulfill the purposes God intended for it. We must manage the environment not simply for our own benefit but for God′s glory. We are part of His Creation, just as every ant, blade of grass, fish, stone, etc is. It's commonly held that paganism has a deep, deep connection with the world, but Christianity should be the same. That sense should be how Christians interact with the world, including other people. The difference between paganism and Christianity should be the recognition we are flawed creatures, yet loved anyway. That view would lead to better respect, understanding and care to our fellow humans and to the environment around us. We are not superior beings. None of us is better than another. The view of superiority, subjugation, dominace etc seems an antithesis of God's calling.
