Maria is doing something called kullning which is used for herd calling here in Norway and also Sweden,it is still used today and has roots back to the bronze age,and probably has magical roots used in rituals like Heilung is doing here

Credit to user @Nidels who posts the background on many of these reactions: The song's title can be found in the Mesogothic Anglo-Saxon glossary as "In-Maidjan", which means "deceptively change" or "corrupt". This makes sense since the entire story within the album consists of a peaceful village that is corrupted by having to go to war. Therefore, Proto-Germanic seems to be the language. Harigasti Teiwa Harigasti Teiwa "is a clear Germanic reference to the Negau helmet. This helmet contains several Etruscan alphabet inscriptions that include the words" Harigasti teiwa which are the first words of the song. This could be translated as Harigast (the priest) although it could also mean, the priest of Teiwaz (Tyr). Tawol Athodu - I accept the invitation. Ek Erilaz - I am a runemaster. The word has been interpreted to mean magician or runemaster. The word is an ablaut variant of count and it is believed that it could be linguistically related to the name of the tribe of the Heruli or Herulos. The Heruli were a Germanic tribe from Scandinavia that was invaded by the Roman Empire in the 3rd century. So it is probably simply an old military title of Germanic provenance. Owlthuthewaz - owlthu (glorious) thewaz (servant). Means servant of the glorious Niwaremariz - Priest of the god "Ullr" / famous, renowned. From the proto-Germanic term Wulþuz (glory) wolþu- is possibly a reference to a God, surely the God Ullr. Saawilagar Hateka - My name is Sawilagaz. Harja - Army - leader of the army; commander; Warrior Wuotani Ruoperath Wuotani - Oh, Wodan! Ruoperath - famous and brilliant. This could be interpreted as the following: I, Priest Harigast. Aaccept the invitation (to battle) I am the Heruli. I am a renowned priest of Ullr. They call me Warrior. Oh, Wodan the famous and brilliant! Or it could also be interpreted as: Come, guest Tyr For this invocation I, the Rune Master, servant of Odin, call upon the one of the Sun to aid our army The next chant are the names of the 24 Norse runes of the Elder Futhark. This is also known as runic song. Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo, Hagal, Naudhiz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Perthro, Algiz, Sowelu, Tiwaz, Berkano, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala. In English: Wealth, Aurochs, Thorn, Divine Breath, Travel, Torch, Gift, Joy, Hail, Need, Ice, Harvest, Tree, Luck, Elk, Sun, Creator, Birch tree, Horse, Man, Water, Fertility, Day, Home. Odin, prepare for battle! The Elder Futhark rune alphabet chant @3:53 mark: ᚠ - f - Fehu ᚢ - u - Ūruz þ - þurisaz ᚨ - a - Ansuz ᚱ - r - Raidō ᚲ - k - Kenaz or Kauną ᚷ - g - Gebō ᚹ - w - Wunjō ᚺ - h - Hagall (Old Norse*in the chant) Hag(a)laz (reconstructed Proto-Germanic) ᚾ - n - Nuadiz ᛁ - i - Isa (Old Norse*in the chant) Isaz (Proto-Germanic) ᛃ - j - Jēra ᛇ - ï/æ - īwaz / ēwaz ᛈ - p - Perþō ᛉ - z - Algiz ᛊ / ᛋ - s - Sōwilō ᛏ - t - Tiwaz ᛒ - b - Berkanan (Berkano*in the chant) ᛖ - e - Ehwaz ᛗ - m - Mannaz ᛚ - l - Laguz ᛜ / ᛝ - ŋ (ng) - Ingwaz ᛞ - d - Dagaz ᛟ - o - Ōþala

I am genuinely speechless. Thank you so much for this in-depth, well written, breakdown. I understand that I only scratch the surface with my interpretations so when someone takes this time to break things down like this it means absolutely everything to me because then I have a guide going into other songs that they have done. Thank you again, have a great evening.

i think the stringed instrument is called an Ravanahatha and it's from India
@rick653419 ай бұрын
The name of the instrument is Ravanhatha- also argued to be the progenitor of violin. Ravanhatta's origin is in the India(Bharat)/Sri Lanka which dates back to atleast 5,000 years. It was played by the King Ravan hence the name. King Ravan was the king of Sri Lanka and it is this exact King that was killed by Lord Ram. The whole story of this is given in Ramayan, which has more than 300 versions(each independent of other), the widely known is the Valmiki's Ramayan. The story has been animated and is on youtube! Fun fact- heilung had mentioned in an interview that the bow of the instrument, has human hair as the string whereas traditionally horse hair is used.

First, thank you for your service, brother. I retire from the navy in just over a month @ 21yrs. Anyway, the best description I've heard about Heilung is this: Heilung makes you homesick for a place you've never seen, and a life you've never lived.
@susannradal93039 ай бұрын
This is filmed at their first ever live performance. Heilung is amazing they dont do concerts it is a ritual healing and you walk away as a new person. I love to go for a walk in the forest or mountains and play Heilung,it is like nature is listening and singing around me.

I just wanna start out with saying thank you for sharing this - you experiencing this was interesting and insightful, you strike me as an interesting person and I enjoyed your takes on it all :-) I haven't seen you before, but I occasionally come back and binge peoples reactions to Heilung :-) Personally I want to suggest you, not for content, and if you haven't already, to just for yourself sit down and experience the Lifa concert(where this is from, available here on yt) in its entirety from start to end without pauses. - its a journey :-) A worthwhile one. I see your #mentalhealth so it feels relevant to share that I have lived and live through "it", and Heilungs music/ritual touches stuff in my soul, for the better :-) It can be both unpleasant and ecstatic at times - but I feel its a movement towards something. Mental health, in whatever its form easily can feel like the opposite, and the external push through the senses is .. freeing? in a way.. for the lack of a better expression :-) .. I hope it might touch upon something for you too, in the best way imaginable :-) Well wishes from Denmark! ( I enjoy jumping in the ocean at wintertime, working on my mental health. Even if I hate freezing :p it has a positive influence on me. Worth looking into, ice baths :-) ) ( I'll go see if I can find that other reaction you mention to have shared of Heilung now :-) )

I greatly appreciate the insight you provide. I will watch that concert in its entirety on my own, although I do have some more Heilung reactions coming soon. I approached this channel from a mental health and recovery standpoint and tie into the lyrics from an emotional perceptive approach. I've struggled off and on most of my life with addiction, ideations, mental health in general, and never feeling adequate enough. It's only been over the last 6 months that I've truly come to appreciate myself as a person, and you'll see more in-depth reviews and reactions as I go. I've only been home a week and a half and I got my studio set back up and I've got reaction set until October 25th currently. Thank you again for the insight, and I wish you the best, and just know that I mean what I say at the end of my videos.

Yes. You are on target with most of the observations. Maria does personify the Goddess in their rituals. The Goddess is often associated with the Moon, hence the crescent moon antlers she wears, embodying the Heavens and the Earth as Mother Nature as well. The white color is also a moon association. The two black crescents she wears on her face paint, may represent the crescent phases of the moon as well. At least that's how I see it as a Wiccan High Priest.

The title "In Maidjan" actually means “to change deceitfully” or “to corrupt”. The song is about a peaceful village that is corrupted/changed by war with another village/people. It's a tragic song that laments this fact.

My interpretetion; This is battle magic before an invading army is attacking the village. The chief shaman is shouting a welcome to the "Guest Army" - Harigastu Taiva! then there are some Galdr (Male magic) followed by everyone chanting the names of the runes (Which all had magical properties) - nine times for the nine days and nights the Allfather hung from the Worldtree over the Universal void, to spy out the secrets of the same runes. Then the Völva (seeress/shamaness) performs female magic - Seidr - which is ABSOLUTELY forbidden for men to practice. The indian instrument i see as a nod to the fact that ALL Indoeuropean religions from Ireland to India have a common origin.
@jackg.16839 ай бұрын
"Harigasti Teiwa" is from a runic inscription on a Negau helmet and it means "Harigast the priest". Seidr also wasn't forbidden by men to practice. There was a bit of a stigma to it being considered feminine but often men still practiced it and it wasn't ever forbidden. Galdr also wasn't "male magic", anyone could practice it and there was never any associated stigma like seidr.
@thomasrehbinder77229 ай бұрын
@@jackg.1683 A little bit of a stigma that got Odin hinself deposed as king of the Gods and banished from Asgård for ten years when he delved in to it. But i'm no expert.
