First live performance as the band? NO. No, Because I performed with these people, long ago. When I was a child. Their first performance, when they were named, was in Muncie, IN. At my old elementary school. I know those guys personally. That was a memorable performance I did with them. All credit goes to the ones who played that day.

Love to see more reaction of them because they trigger emotions in you far older than you ever have imagined connecting you with ancestors going back hundreds or even thousands of years if you are willing to open your mind to it.👍

I am glad that you give this extremely exceptional Nordic group a chance. I tell you a little about its history. The group, which are two boys and one girl, have Norwegian, Danish and German nationality and uses instruments such as horns of different animals, drums, human bones, rattles with human ashes, bells, stones, all to go back to the first musical compositions that They were able to interpret 1,000 years ago, in the iron age in northern Europe. All the letters are taken from carved gadgets from the era of the Nordic iron, such as arrowheads, bows, swords, rune stones and recite poems and psalms of war, peace and protection. Whereupon and for this, heilung, which means healing in German, is in close collaboration with archaeologists specializing in the field. The languages used by heilung are several. Among them are Latin, Old Danish, German and English. They were so successful with their first album that they had to release a new live album, which includes 2 new songs. Also a video of that album live and this year they released their second work, futha, which is a much more feminine work. His first album, Ofnir, is much more aggressive and masculine. During the concerts some representations of how these ancient rituals of the iron age could be made. Also just finished the soundtrack of the video game Hellblade 2. I hope this review helps you to understand a bit the context of this musical group. Some curiosities. When they built the drums for the group, one of which is made from horse skin, a doctor drew blood from the three members of the group and painted the drums and some of their clothes with it. The male singer with the deep voice is a great tattoo artist and very professional. The bones the girl plays with are human bones and sometimes they have had problems in the countries of the tour to introduce them through the border from the country where the concert was held. Some facts about the song. The song's title can be found in the Mesogothic Anglo-Saxon glossary as "In-Maidjan", which means "deceptively change" or "corrupt". This makes sense since the entire story within the album consists of a peaceful village that is corrupted by having to go to war. Therefore, Proto-Germanic seems to be the language. "Harigasti Teiwa" is a clear Germanic reference to the Negau helmet. This helmet contains several inscriptions including the words "harigasti teiwa which are the first words of the song. This could be translated as "Tyr, be Guest of our army", since this line was trying to invoke a God for war. The next chant are the names of the 24 Norse runes of the Elder Futhark. This is also known as runic song. Come, guest Tyr For this invocation I, the Rune Master, servant of Odin, call upon the one of the Sun to aid our army Fehu, Uruz, Thurisaz, Ansuz, Raidho, Kenaz, Gebo, Wunjo, Hagal, Naudhiz, Isa, Jera, Eihwaz, Perthro, Algiz, Sowelu, Tiwaz, Berkano, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Laguz, Ingwaz, Dagaz, Othala. In English: Wealth, Aurochs, Thorn, Divine Breath, Travel, Torch, Gift, Joy, Hail, Need, Ice, Harvest, Tree, Luck, Elk, Sun, Creator, Birch tree, Horse, Man, Water, Fertility, Day, Home. Odin, prepare for battle! A hug.

I find her voice eerily hypnotic, awakening a primal force from inside each of us. Summoning spirits and (re)enacting a ritual from ancient times, long forgotten in the minds of men, but alive and well in our souls and collective conscience. Echoing from eons before recorded time - amplified history which reverberates into today.

Saw them live in 2019 after Das Ich. While i was mostly there for Das Ich, Heilung was pretty cool. But the show was slightly undercut in it's momentum by the fact that they didn't even tried to hide the fact that they used electronic triggered drums. Like, you bang a small bone to a tiny drumlet and the walls start shaking.. yeah... they also had huge drums, so i don't get thy they felt the need for those tiny drumlets to have such massive samples. Also, there were lots of naked dancers. Mostly men, some women, but all of them were somewhat muscular and beardless so you couldn't tell it apart in the fog :D

Do not assume vikings were only raiders they were farmers tradesmen with other kingdoms only time they raided if a kingdom did something to break truce they were also explorers. As for the band all is authentic from the real animal and human bones and the dear skin clothing and drum heads and other percussion instruments the language is over 1000 years old
@AllieB-11.11 Жыл бұрын
Well they definitely raided us here in England when there wasn't a truce as they hadn't been here before - they just appeared at the monastery of Lindisfarne suddenly one day! Every English person learns about this at school. 😬I know you're right though too in that they were farmers/tradesmen - there was a lot more to them than just raiders. They settled amongst us in the end even though we had to pay them the Danegeld.
@fabrizioarvat1141 Жыл бұрын
More recent versions of this song performed live are noticeably less powerful. This is due to the fact that there are fewer male choristers currently replaced by female voices, which in this piece are less powerful and rich in harmonic terms. Even the now international success forces the "band" to long tours around the world, which certainly tires them a lot.

Just to be clear this band is not trying to represent Vikings. In general, for some reason, Vikings are extremely overrepresented in the media. Vikings existed only for about 200 years and represented only a small part of the Scandinavian population and were soon persecuted as criminals in their homelands, like pirates, for example. Germanic and Celtic tribes not only existed much longer but were also geographically much more widespread. The vast majority of Northern Europe's history has nothing to do with Vikings.
