They tested their live performance before. With a selected public, this is the way how real artists have to do it. This was their first performance for a public that never heard of them before. Castlefest is a folk / medieval music festival, folk metal included, on different locations in a beautiful park. The last and late-at-night groups, are of course those who can stir up the public. Those who were dancing and jumping from the beginning are drunk. The others are amazed.
@DreamerN3 жыл бұрын
@@duudsuufd Castlefest isn't just a music festival. It's so much more. Yes, there is a lot of music, but it is a medieval/fantasy festival in its heart. And you never know with the people there, most of them/us don't need to be drunk to dance. (;

I was at this performance. At that day nobody knew anything about Heilung.. It was an unknown group, performing as the main act on saturdaynight on a 5 day festival. The organisation took a huge risk booking them because they had never performed live before. I usually a down to earth, serious type of guy. I hate dancing. This night, Heilung blew me and many others off our socks. I danced my ass off 🤣 They touched something old and primal in me. The whole ritual took about an hour but seemed minutes. Mindblown I think most ppl there were in trance, wondering wtf they were looking at. Others went berserk and screamed, grunted, howled and danced all trough the ritual. I hope to see Heilung live again soon. It is sooo much more powerfull in real life.

Love this song! This wasn't their opener but I think it was their 2nd song. The wolves you were hearing refer to Geri and Freki (Greed and Ravenous) which were Odin's wolves that accompanied him on his journeys. The bird calls were Huginn (Thought) and Muninn (Memory), Odin's ravens that would fly all over Midgard (the world) and bring information they find to Odin. The opener was In Maidjan which has them chanting the entire Elder Fuþark, an ancient writing system thats also said to hold magical power. "Fehu, uruz, thurisaz, ansuz, raido, kenaz, gebo, wunjo, hagal(az), nauthiz, isa, jera, eiwaz, perthro, algiz, sowilo, tiwaz, ehwaz, mannaz, laguz, inwaz, dagaz, othala" It also shows off Maria Franz absolutely incredible range!

Hello guys: The first invocation is towards Odin's ring. The second invocation is to the wolves that accompany the god Odin. Geri and Freki. The translation of their names would be "ravenous and greedy" The third invocation is to Sleipnir, Odin's horse. In Scandinavian mythology, Sleipnir or Sleipner (from Old Norse: "the slippery") is an eight-legged gray horse belonging to the god. The fourth invocation is for the ravens of Odin, Hugin and Munin. In Norse mythology Hugin and Munin, are a pair of ravens associated with the god Odin. Hugin and Munin traveled around the world collecting news and information for Odin. Hugin is the "thought" and Munin is the "memory." Both were sent at dawn to collect information and returned in the afternoon. They perched on the god's shoulders and whispered all the news into his ears. The spear of Odin is also named. The word "gægogæ" appears to be a kind of magical invocation or battle cry present in a 5th century medallion / coin inscription, and is comparable to the "g͡ag͡ag͡a" of the Spear of Kragehul I, which is also believed to be a war cry or chant. I shout, shout, shout this spear. Gaegogae, Gaegogae, Gaegogae screamed loudly. The fifth invocation is to the god Odin, calling him by all the names by which he was known. Mighty of the court, the wise, the dear, the one who talks to wolves, the welcome, the pale, god of desires, inspirational, chief, red-haired, hooded, wand-bearer, famous lord, god of the hanged, wanderer of the mist, the needy, father of Yule, the tall, rider on the attack, father of all, tree of victory, father of victory, the one with the lost eye, who throws the spear, shining eye, shaking spear / shield, leader of the people, the one with knowledge, bearer of cloak, keeper of secrets, the terrible, the stormy. A hug from Spain and happy new year 2021 to all.

somebody have probably mentioned this already, but the chant is basically a list of names used on Odin in old norse/germanic sagas. Alfatherheiti roughly translates to "Names of Allfather" or "Kennings of the All father". There are quite a few of them :) Heilung draws most /all of it's lyrics from ancient nordic/germanic texts, be it from rune-sticks, rune-stones or ancient litterature. There are over 150 kennings for Odin that we know about. This song lists about 24 of them.
