The power of the bifrost is such a cool ass thing... No other civilization in the MCU has this much range in exercising power like what the bifrost gives the asgardians... Being able to bring armies across the universe in seconds.... Even able to travel to infinity and beyond.... marvelous

It would seem that the bifrost, like thor's hammer, is merely a device for channeling a power. We see Heimdall in his final moments asking the allfathers for one final use of the dark magics to transport Banner to Earth to warn the planet what is coming and he touches the sword and uses his hand to point it at Banner. What an absolute chad to use the last of his strength getting Banner out of there knowing they'd kill him for it. We also hear in an earlier film Loki tell Thor that Odin must have used his vast reserve of dark magics to get Thor to Earth when the bifrost was out of commission after being destroyed.

In Ragnarok during the theater of Loki's death when he was disguised as Odin Thor arrived and said that he had been traveling around the realms and saw enemies plotting against Asgard while he sat there eating grapes. So he couldn't have needed the bifrost at this point.

I think before Heimdall, there could be lots of Asgardians that were more powerful than Heimdall. But Odin has to "slay" them all to hide Hela... Leaving only Heimdall... probably the only trustworthy one to keep watch over the galaxies since most of the Asgardian enemies were subjugated already.

This is MCU version of Marvel's version of Heimdall from Norse mythos. Why would they make everything the same ? I'd say it's a bold and very well done choice... He looks unique and badass in gold armor. A white person would not look good in gold so they would have to explain why the royal gatekeeper of a golden City is not wearing matching armor

Norse mythology like many others are caucasion washed fictional versions of the kemetic pan-theon. The mother origin of the word Black actually means pure/shinning one..Black creates ALL spectrums of light. White actually means pale/death. Idriss means ENOCH. His last name is ALBA, which is connected to the ELFS=Shinning ONES 🌟...these Holly-wood de Facto writers really display hidden Truths through symbolisms, numerology, and other Esoteric knowledge..in which the mundane turn a blind eye to..or simply lack the "eye" to interpret what is being shown.

He is also the gatekeeper so he is wearing special armor too. Like u said it's adaption. GoW had a loyal hiemdall but he wasn't even liked by odin only used and their odin was hideously evil. I like him as a character but not my Odin. But every version does it for a reason. GoW did them to be villains for Kratos to kill, while Marvel mede them the other realms our hero Thor is from cuz our Thor is a hero. Thor the one I like most from GoW and he's still a villian 💀
