Actually we have, I think in one of Heir's Iberian faction focuses his opponent brought a Seleucid 6 Elephant troll army against Heir's all sword and slinger army. It was hilarious.

I didn't start playing Rome II multiplayer until the Emperor Edition. For a while, I've been trying to figure out why elephants seem so absurdly powerful compared with the replays that you and Maximus played. I finally noticed the massive (and ridiculous) boost to health that CA gave elephants. Now I know why it seems to take 4 skirmishers to kill these irritants.

I am not a Rome 2 player, I don't have a decent enough PC to play it. However, I am amazed at all the comments hating on pike formations. Everyone calls them noob boxes as if it is a terrible thing to do and not in the spirit of the game. I don't see how that can be. Standing on a hill, or right at the red line, sure. That is not sportsman like. But playing your units well and focusing on a strong pike line. That is what the period called for. If you don't want your enemy to do that, out skirmish him and outflank him. Seems like a legit strategy that is not counter to the spirit of the game.

wkvalader You do know. Outflanking requires you to get behind enemy line. The existence of red line and initial deployment prevent u from doing that. And for skirmish. I doubt anyone would bring that much skirmishers in a game where everyone is consider as a decent player with proper game etique until proven otherwise. Red line camping with pikemen where theirs only weakness is outflanking is kinda violating the gentlemen agreement between players. I consider this is equivalent to war crime. You can commit war crime for greater advantages but however it is inhuman to do.

Its just not "very" hard to pull off, and is a noob tactic. Youd dont see it in tournaments because meele infantry spam and javelins do an number on inflexible pikes. But they are very powerful if you have many and your opponent does not have the right tools to deal with it - which can be an easy win.

Silver shield pikemen now have 100 armour which makes them the best now as the biggest weakness is being peppered by Archers now it's not

Rather like these focus videos. Total War battles most often just come down to unit quality, and it's quite nice have somebody sum up what each unit is good for or if they're even worth the time of using.

and the moment HoC said " lets see how or if i deal with my ... i knew it was battle lost replay, plus eminently at the start of the replay, the terrain does not favor the Seleucid tactical doctrine per say and with elephants, you do not want the elephants to stop and engage a single unit, they are at their best like chariots when continuously moving thru enemy formations since they get kills that way, not from fighting a prolong engagement in 1v1, you needed to keep the elephants moving once they hit the enemy line, click the movement button over enemy formation once you have charged to keep the elephants moving or they get bogged down and get less kills and then killed themselves , the reason why when they run a mock in your formation it is so deadly is because they keep moving thru the formation and are not stopping, thus you need this to happen when using them offensively just like repeating charges with cav but running thru the entire enemy flank of their front line that's engaged with your infantry front line, and depending on the quality of infantry you have is the timer of how long you have to use your elephants to make enough of a difference in the infantry battle before its too late

think about it this way, if the elephants are not movng their kinetic energy is zero theoretically, but when the elephants are in motion their size and weight become more of an advantage than fighting in bogged down fight since in that situation their size and weight become more of a disadvantage it seems

My favourite Unit in the game is sacrend band hoplite ( carthage faction ) , best hoplite in my opinion and also best lookin👌🏼😇 i do like italian swordsmen cheap and solid good unit , reminds me of hastati with armor and the throwing Spears before Charge.

They really should alter the Royal Peltasts. Change and balance the stats and actually make them PELTASTS. They should be a very capable or even powerful missile/melee unit. (I know there are probably mods for this but it really should be a core thing in the game)

It's a levy pikemen unit (I think the one that was threatened to be outflanked by the elephants earlier). You can see it run away at around 23:15, but it seems that they reassembled and he didn't notice.

Thorax Swordsman are not "not that good", they are very cost effective for a sword unit which is accesable to most hellenic factions. Chosen Swords which cost 730 are worse than thorax swords which cost 710 and have use the whip

you should attack the pike of his that are really depleted so that your pike can get in too it and always make a full defence and always use skirmishing units that are manier and you should use sycthe chariots instead of a dumbass elephant that keeps running amock

......In you're fight you completely ignore the armor bonus which your elephants have over his which is the precise reason you use elephants in the center line for a charge using the selucids....they take much much longer to run amok than any other and when they do because of their immense armor they are much slower and thus easier to avoid with your own troops and also able to take out more of the enemy....Im just saying this whole youtube channel and video is seemingly based off of use of sound tactics and watching less than a minute of the fight and thats the first thing I see.....in conclusion.... acquaint yourself with your chose faction nub =P

HeirofCarthage You might choose for the Syrian archers. They are nice. If you buff them they can pair with cretan. (they still have lower attack) I love them because 40 armor is a lot for a archer unit and heavy shot beast out.
