When a tailed beast is extracted, the jinchuriki dies immediately (gaara's case) but Naruto isn't dead yet cuz he is an Uzumaki... Uzumaki's have tremendous life force (kushina explained) so Naruto won't die immediately but yeah he is dying Slowly

@Ryan Romano To me both are fillers as they were forced into the story to prolong the anime, even though at that point the manga had long since ended. Itachi story is canon though, as this was based on a novel (I think), unlike Indra and Ashura that was made up entirely from said one sentence (and given the track record of this series using one theme from canon and turning them into a filler arc - first shippuuden filler arc about "king", second about belonging somewhere, third about bonds between master and student - that does NOT bode well). I however stopped watching the anime altogether when I noticed the previous filler arc ended only to start with ANOTHER flashback about Itachi and Uchiha, I just couldn't take it anymore (but I did watch clips from Itachi backstory afterwards and I acknowledge that unlike all those other fillers it's actually GOOD; just shows how good the series can be when they don't make up their own shit). Anyway, it would have been better if they'd saved Itachi backstory for after the war, along with those other stories that were based on the novels.

I mean, I wouldn't call it good, more like "interesting"... but still, yeah, I feel like the series would have been better without it. And without the whole Idra and Asura thing, too, honestly. That being said, Naruto as an anime is bad. The amount of fillers and flashback and animation fuck-ups brought it down to a lower tier anime for me. Storywise it's great though, manga is still in my top favorites. But as for anime... BLEACH is a better anime than Naruto. Yeah, I said it! It has worse story, and slightly worse soundtrack, but aside from two arcs they didn't even bother pretending that fillers are canon, have WAY less flashbacks, and animation is much better, and they never had such failures like 6-tailed Naruto vs Pain nor near the amount of animations fuck-ups like in Naruto (like giving Madara Rinnegan by accident a few minutes before its revealed, Naruto in Kurama more running a mile to Tailed beasts who were right in front of him the previous shot, Kakashi's Mangekyo Sharingan with reversed colors, et cetera)

Bee didn't die because 8 tail cut off one of his tentacles. So some of his chakra is still in bee. If you slow down the part where 8 tail got dragged in, you can see a split frame where he cut his tail off.
