She makes that her life is the most normal possible. It is us who are sometimes blind persons. She always saw what we refuse to see. Big is this woman.

I remeber attendig a dance at a club for the deaf. It was amazing how you can respond to the beat by feeling the vibrations throiugh ther floor. Another gentle and fascinating insight, Helen.

Hellen Keller is a delight, she was a very different child but she was bless with a good teacher who helped her and did not give up even when the road is tough and hard to bare, she keeps pursuing her light to fight darkness for Helen Keller, as a teacher.

I remember watching the movie about this remarkable woman as a child. My compassion was overwhelming as a child trying to imagine how it would be to be deaf and blind. How unimaginable. Now I have lived long enough to be a witness to implants for the deaf to hear and for sight to be given to those that cannot see. Today I am thinking about when Helen died and took her last breath her next breath was with Jesus and bathed in light and with streets of gold and the angles singing. Can you imagine what it was like for her and what it is like for all those who live in silence and darkness to be suddenly in Heaven.

One thing I've always been curious about is what her relationship with her parents was like after she became able to communicate. That's one thing that no one really talks about. All you ever hear about is how difficult it was for them before Anne Sullivan came, but no one really talks about how they felt about her and behaved towards her afterwards. I imagine they must have been extremely proud of her. Did they ever learn to finger spell fluently? Did they spend as much time with her as Anne did?
@IamHelenKeller3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa. Yes, I believe all her close family members learned sign language. Within a year of Anne meeting Helen...Anne and Helen moved to Boston so that Helen could attend Perkins school for the blind....and later college. So in later years Helen didn't spend as much time at her family home. But Helen remained in close contact with her family. Best Wishes! :)

I personnaly think that Kate Keller became very Friend with Ann and trusted her for everything concerning Helen. She Had to speak her Heart out with Ann even if sometimes it must have been difficult for her to reply ann's questions especially why Helen Never laughed and rarely smiled ,since when ? Why they let her eat in their plates.. painful. But when Helen wrote She was vert very intelligent and a fast learner which enchanted Ann and Helen's parents and when she wrote letters in braille and square letters,,it was marvellous for her parents and to hear her laugh smil et ,see her study write. They had to bé moved in their Heart and thank Ann every day God made and communicate with a wise child not Furious anymore had to make them cry and smile too. A wonder.
@TheFuckYou214 Жыл бұрын
No, like previously mentioned she moved to Boston with Ann at a young age and stayed for most part. Also Ann detested staying in the Keller home as they were once a slave owning family and still cherished the values of the Confederacy while Ann was educated at Perkins which has ties to abolitionists. As Helen grew and was educated to make up her own mind she sided more with the abolitionist’s values which gave her great grief from southern opponents and pushback from her family. They loved her and they spoke but it was a complex relationship.

I feel sorry for her. Poor women could not see or hear, which pretty much made her a prisoner in her own body. She was very fortunate to have Ann Sullivan and this lady to be her caretakers, but that is what it is was, someone who had to have a caretaker. She really could not have gotten married or had children, or had a job, and could not be a housewife. Helen Keller's fame got her through life and supported her, and she was lucky that her parents just didn't ship her off to some asylum in Alabama. No matter her fame and her inspiration, I would rather be a ragged urchin in Bangladesh than have lived her life. But it was her life and she made the best it could have been.
