Not all of Latin America is mixed. Countries like Argentina and Uruguay are predominantly white, most being of Italian or Spanish descent, while Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, and the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico have significant Amerindian blood that remains pure and untouched from mixing. I would say the countries that are most mixed are Brazil, Colombia and Cuba, especially Brazil. The supermodels have special names attached to them. Of course Linda Evangelista is the Mother Queen and Supreme of this group and also for her chameleon look. Christy Turlington is known as the The Perfect Face/Classic Beauty. Naomi Campbell is known as the Runway Queen.. Claudia Schiffer was known as "The Blonde Supermodel". Cindy Crawford I think was known as the "The Girl Next Door Supermodel".. I think Helena Christensen would probably be as "Sexy Eyes" Supermodel. Elle MacPherson was known as "The Body".

Cindy Crawford was the All-American Supermodel (though Christy Brinkley might also have that title). She represented the very core values of every American girl. Independence (had her entourage and branded herself unlike many models), intelligence (graduated as valedictorian of her high school and got a full scholarship at Northwestern), diligence (hosted House-of-Style all while keeping he modeling career), approachable beauty (she didn't look like an ice cold European queen, but instead had that sporty brunette girl next door vibe), respect (she was always nice and professional with others (no drama) unlike Naomi and her tantrums, or Kate with her drug habits), and success (she was probably the most popular among the models of the 90s and exemplified it as she was at the top of her game in the early 90s until Schiffer dethroned her). She was the Wonder Woman of all supermodels. The super heroine for every aspiring model. I know Tyra definitely modeled her career after her.

@Richard Xaviery I wouldn't say she is the Pageant Queen. To me, that label cheapens her status as a model. When I see Helena, words like exotic, sultry, smokey, sexy, seductive come into my mind. In the early 90s, she had gorgeous raven black hair, with olive skin (traits most likely coming from her Peruvian mother), and that chiseled bone structure with light color eyes (traits most likely coming from her Danish father) that contrasted so well with her dark features. She was definitely a unique looking creature. As for sexy eyes, she definitely had them, but Linda and Tatjana also had very seductive eyes, which was part of their alluring charm as to why they connected so well with the camera. Linda's eyes were more feline in its shape, while Tatjana had a these deep ice-cold blue eyes that would leave you burned with her intense smoldering gaze. Her eyes had that perfect quality of ice and fire. Like Helena, I would say that Yasmeen Ghauri also was very exotic (half Pakistani and half German), but more commercial looking. Like you pointed out, Yasmeen also had the walk, but I would give that more to Naomi, especially for her longevity, since she is still doing runways, and Naomi's walk looks more classic (able to fit in most designers and different time periods) than Yasmeen's, which seems more 90s. While Elle is certainly The Body, I would argue that Yasmeen was also The Body of the 90s supermodels (Elle was more 80s). Compared to other models, her chest to waist to hips ratio was perfect. Her waist were so small, it created the illusion that she had wide hips and chest, creating this perfect hourglas figure. Add that with her broad athletic shoulders and curvy bossom and butt, then you got yourself the silhouette of a femme fatale. There was an ad for Givenchy in which she did for the Organza fragance line. The interior of the bottle is shaped like an hourglass, and Yasmeen is standing next to it. She was the perfect model for personifying that perfume bottle. Her statuesque physique with her hourglass figure, and that long white dress she wore by the Saharan sunset background made her seem like a Greek godess.

Helena, Oh Helena.. what a beauty. She was the type of girl that if you saw her at a distance or up close would leave me speechless and intimidated to speak. I guess this was the reason photographers always asked her to take off her clothes. I remember sketching her face for an art class I had , it went something like this. Her eye's matched up evenly.. ok does my sketches eye's match up, her eyebrows are very long and extended .. or are my sketches eyebrow's long and extended. This went on and on. until Viola a sketch of a perfectly proportioned face. Looks easy.. possibly.. but was much more complicated and deeper than that. It would be great to feature more Gianni Versace in the "throwback thursdays/ full runway", specially the last period of his career (late 90's) that seems to be so unfairly neglected...for instance, his Couture fall 95-96 show inspired by the 60s/ space age with Prince soundtrack, all in optic white and celophane was pure genious!!...so contemporary and minimalist, specially looking at what couture was about at that period! Also it represents a turn in Versace's aesthetic, from the celebration of the barroque (that people insisted in recognizing him for) to a more purist, slicker kind of fashion. ;)
