You do take us to some beautiful places,so many options to explore and paint there at Glastonbury, and great splodge and scribbles. I’ve treated myself to Sushma Hegde wildflower watercolour book, what a lovely book,I’m really enjoying it,I spent a lovely couple of hours practicing leaves and ended up with a lovely painting of just leaves (couldn’t stop 😂) isn’t it a wonderful feeling when you begin to see improvement and are happy with your painting you’ve done.😃

I think it's a great book - just with the perfect amount of detail. I'm so glad you're enjoying it, and making art you like!

What can I say , Helen , Your artwork has captured the serenity , the mystery and the beauty of Glastonbury my most favourite place in the world , no kidding . Yet again I'm so grateful for you for taking me on this trip , and not a musician in sight !! My daughter-in-law , who 's professional name was DJ Miss Pink worked the festival for many years also send her thanks and her love along with mine for these wonderful memories . Mike in Exeter xx

Ahhh, that's so nice to hear of both of your attachments to Glastonbury! Thank you so much! No musicians, but I did think I saw Jesus and a leprechaun walking down the high street. I love that no one seems out of place there!

What a gorgeous spot to visit! Lovely paintings as well 😊. Thanks for sharing your palette! I spent the day (off and on) doing mixing charts to try to figure out how I want to make up some palettes using my Stoneground paints. As soon as I think I’m settled, I’ll try another combination and want to switch things around again. I think I was closer before I started 😂. It was fun though 😅.

What a fantastic place! I know starting out with the background washes is new to you but I think you are making great use of it. Particularly in that one where it looks like a reddish brown background - I agreed with all the things you said about how it enhances the sketch. Do you find yourself consciously trying to incorporate the background, or trying hard to ignore it? 🤔 Always learn from listening to you do your swatches!

Thank you! That turned out to be my favourite! I mainly ignored the background, but chose which background might suit the subject best, in the first place.

What a great place to sketch. My favorite today was the pencil sketch with the reds. It can be hard to capture the scale and drama of a huge ornate building but I think the red added that extra something. I don't know how to explain it. I couldn't imagine it looking as good with a different color, it would change the emphasis somehow. It's sparked an idea for me though. Greens splashed on the page with Angkor Wat drawn on. That would draw the emphasis to the forest overgrowing the temple. But see that's me overthinking things again and preplanning my "random" stuff. I think I'm beyond help 😂 I enjoyed seeing the colors you're experimenting with at the moment. My current palette has 5 greens which is way more than usual. I'm trying to test out Cascade green and Serpentine on top of my favs sap, undersea and Perylene. I'm also testing out Lavender, Payne's grey, Piemontite and Lunar black. It was a toss up between Payne's grey and Sodalite, PG won for now. Piemontite is quite similar to your Perylene violet. Lunar black is very granulating and I've never had a black in my palette before and so far I'm guilty of not using it. It just seems too dark and black, I prefer the greys. I only have one yellow, Quinacridone gold, every time I add a lemon type yellow into my palette I don't use it. I don't mind the earth yellows because they make nice earthy greens but the bright or lemony ones I really struggle with. I haven't got 2 reds either. Right now I have Quin Rose as my cool red and I can use one of my earth reds eg Quin burnt orange, burnt umber or piemontite if needed. Since reading that limited palette book I seem to have moved away from my split primary palette and I'm using more earth colors as primaries. I think I'm starting to understand the color choices the Daniel Smith brand ambassadors have in their palettes. I used to think some of those palettes were a bit out there lol.

I think you're totally right about the green and an Angkor Wat drawing!! I was there a few years ago and should look through my photos! I have all the paints you have in your palette, and it sounds wonderful! I'm sure my own palette will change very many times, as I experiment and really get to know different individual paints!

FYI, even though I'm subscribed to you, though only for a couple of weeks, and I selected the "all" option, KZbin has never told me about any of your recent videos. Fortunately they show up anyway because of the algorithm.
