If you go to Konarock be sure to go up Whitetop Mountain. Forest Road 89 got cleared quickly by the power crews, there is some serious wind damage to sections of the forest. Very curious to see the damage around Hwy 58 and Grassy Ridge Rd when I return to Green Cove next weekend.

Would like to see the Creeper Trail around Straight Branch to Creek Junction if there are any trestles left!

Fish move close to the edge of the river . I have caught catfish in trees when river was flooded and carp get trapped in pools left after water went down. That 58 was definitely some big devastation.

I'm curious about how much of 58 is destroyed up to Beartree. I'm guessing above that is mostly OK. I used to live about 1/2 mile below the confluence.

Please go to Hwy. 58. I grew up on 58 in the Bethel community. I live in Georgia now so I am concerned about my home stomping grounds. Prayers to all those affected by this once-in-a-lifetime storm. My family members in Shady Valley, Bristol, and Abingdon are all blessed with no damage.

I live in Alvarado. Bethel is fine. Not much of anything there as far as damage of any sort.
@beverlyeskridge82002 ай бұрын
@@beautifulvirginia9629 thank you. My mom lived in Alvarado. Her family was from Denton’s Valley. I think it is God’s country there. I hope the areas I loved growing up can recover. Asheville is a special place to me. Good luck with your fishing. My brother Wayne is a bass tournament fisherman. He lives in Shady Valley.

Big change to the rivers. It will be interesting to explore, float, and fish the remodeled rivers. #HurricaneHelene #flooding #fishing #bartertheatre #Creepertrail #VisitAbingdonVA #Virginiacreepertrail

@GloucesterODaugherty I often join him in my Non-Leisure time to help bring these videos to life. As a local tourism small-business owner, I make daily recommendations to guests on floating, fishing, riding, hiking, and more. These activities support our local economy and help other small businesses and their employees. Everyone needs informed videos and up-to-date information, especially now. What do you do to support our area?

I rode in from Abingdon yesterday 10-9-24 with my two boys as planned. We are staying at the little hotel next to Food City which has been convenient for meals. I plan on visiting the brewery later if they're open. I would like to do more but I don't want to go into town and wander around gawking unless there's something specific I find to do there to support a local business. The trail is in great shape all the way from Abingdon, with all the downed trees having been cleared already. I had read on another channel that the trail was wiped out from Green Cove all the way to Alvarado, but that's simply not true. Trail is "closed" at the sewer treatment plant but plenty of people using it. I would be interested in knowing why the decision was made to close the trail there. Seems like it would be better for local businesses to keep it open at least to where we're staying. I've never ridden the White Top side, but the Abingdon to Damascus section was fabulous, especially with the weather this week.

Hey Ive been following your videos. thanks a lot for the updates!! I've flyfished whitetop laurel creek for years, and was curious about the section from Straight branch up to Creek Junction? and that very large trestle at Creek Junction. I know route 58 got taken out between Straight Branch and Damascus. But is it possible to get any footage of white top laurel creek from Straight Branch to Creek Junction? Or in other words is that area even possible to access? Hope to hear back, -Tanner

@@Condoug10 You can definitely get up to the single hook, artificial only area. It will take some walking and probably a little wading but it will be possible. I will get back up there soon. Maybe this saturday. Thanks bud!!
