Agreed, the technique here hinges on the ability to support the shaft while measuring. Matt should have included that info in the video

I also liked the video and also interested in learning more about the V block used in the video or others that might be recommended. I took advantage of a 30% coupon today at Harbor freight and picked up the magnetic holder and dial indicator.

I’m a brand new rc helicopter pilot. I’ve owned fixed wings before. I have a FlyWing Bell 206 V3 brand new RTF and I for the life of my can’t completely get rid of a vibration on shutdown. It used to do it on spool up as well. I’ve adjusted the main blades many times and can’t seem to get it right although I’ve made it considerably better. Please help.

Great vid thanks. You also seem to be using some kind of tool that the vice holds. Maybe part of a prop balancer? I don’t believe those come with either harbor freight tool.. Also +2 about the music, I found it distracting too

I have a new 450bscale heli. Never crashed. It all the sudden started shaking violently while spooling down to shut off only. It does it just for a second,about a half way on spool up to max rpm. Ive put on perfectly balanced blades a d tracking. Shafts and swash are good. Oh . Also it only happens after flight. If i jst start it ,let it spool up to max and shut it down without flying, i dont shake. Any ideas? Id be very grateful. I feel like ive trued everything except just replacing the entire head mechanics system.

Maybe try adjusting the blade grip bolt tension. It sounds like one of your blades is leading/lagging different from the other.

Thank you for the tip. I found it was an out of balance blade. A factory defect i guess. They sent me two new ones and it stopped shaking.

but it would be better and easy user friendly way to check the shafts another way not having all these tools

You can always roll the shafts on a piece of glass. You will get similar results but not as precise.
