Hi John I enjoyed your video on fixing a busted up micro! I have ordered & started reading your E-books and have gradually started flying bigger helis with quite a bit of help from your books, tutorials, and your online flight school. I have gotten frustrated from I crashing and having to order parts, wait for them to come and figure out from the blown up parts diagram on how to fix them which in itself is enough to piss off the Good Humor Man! I just wanted to express my gratitude for you sharing your knowledge of helis with the RC community. There definitely is not enough of good intelligent people willing to help, and pass on knowledge. i look forward to any future vids.

@Herk Pilot - It's just a silicone soldering mat. There are lots on Amazon. This is one of the first Amazon Choice recommended ones that comes up: amzn.to/3hs75Zl It's a bit bigger than the one I have with more compartments (a couple with lids on them no less). But there are also smaller ones with compartments listed. Like I said, lots of options and several colors too, but the lighter colors like the blue are easier to see small dark screws against I find.

Excellent video, I learnt a lot! In terms of amount of crying and repair cost, is it better to learn on a smaller heli (like the M2) than something bigger? Is a smaller heli more durable when whacking it into the lawn? Currently flying my ALZRC X360 around with no crash yet, but too scared to try a roll or such... Sooner or later I will crash, question is what should it be?
@Rchelicopterfun3 жыл бұрын
The smaller and lighter the heli, the less energy is released and thus "usually" less damage occurs. If you power down a micro heli before it crashes, that also helps reduce the energy release and further improves the likelihood of a zero damage incident. Flying over a thick soft lawn also improves a micro's survivability rate. On the flip side, the larger the helicopter, the better and easier it is to fly. It's all a compromise.

It’s impossible to know for sure, but when the rotor head is spun up, the notchiness goes always with the blades pulling outward on the grips. I believe that’s why the shins are shaped the way they are 😊
@Rchelicopterfun2 жыл бұрын
Hi Frank - While it might go away under centripetal load, the problem with overly tight preload on any bearing is it will create flat spots on the races and balls as well as displace the lubricant between the ball and race. In other words, the problem gets worse over time and leads to pre-mature bearing failure. No bearing should ever have so much preload that you can feel it camming as was the case with this helicopter out of the box.

Hey great video John, I've been flying about a year and you know how addicting this hobby can be. You definitely know what you're doing. You've helped me so much over the past year...Would you happen to have an ebook or some information on how to wire a wltoys v950 Servo upgrade to the MG 90s metal servo. The connectors are not the same, and that's where I'm a little leery, I'm doing this without instructions I can't find any information. I don't want to tackle this alone. Thanks so much
@Rchelicopterfun3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, nothing that specific and as I've never done that exact swap, no idea if those servos will work okay in that specific application? If they are the same size and pull about the same amount of current, they should be safe to use but you will have to install new connectors if they are different. Two options, solder new wiring harness with the correct connector into the servo PCB board, or crimp new connectors onto the existing servo wiring. On micro servos, neither option is overly appealing but if your soldering &/or connector pin crimping skills are up to task, fairly straight forward.

I see that you really manage to repair everything I would like to know I have an xk 127 that recently when I put full throttle the helicopter turns 1/4 on itself I changed the rear engine as well as the propeller but nothing changes you have an idea?
@Rchelicopterfun2 жыл бұрын
Not sure I fully understand your problem, but it sounds like you are saying if you quickly apply full throttle, Your K127 helicopter yaws suddenly (about 90 degrees) and then is fine. If so and the yaw direction is opposite of main rotor rotation direction (torque yaw) - that is very normal on that type of heli. You are inducing a massive torque spike with a sudden throttle command, and the small coreless tail rotor simply can't respond fast enough or has enough power and thrust to stop it. Result, the tail blows out. If you are slower introducing full throttle, properly managing your throttle, that will help. It's one of the limitations of fixed pitch RC helicopters.

Hi John. I am trying to replace my tail boom with motor, but I cant fit the wires connector throught the part that hold the boom to the main body.. Is there a way you know of doing this? Thanks
@Rchelicopterfun4 жыл бұрын
I've never had to do it, but from looking at mine quickly, looks like the 2 conductor tail motor plug connector harness has to be de-soldered and resolder back on after the 2 thin enamel coated wires are passed through. Of course, without pulling it completely apart, that is just an educated guess. Might also be able to remove the pins from the connector housing as well and pass one at a time through.

The moment I turn on my transmitter and plug in the battery, main rotor starts even with zero throttle. The heli flies fine though, but cannot completely stop rotor.

@Rchelicopterfun3 жыл бұрын
I'm presuming you are talking about the main gear of the rotor shaft and pinion gear of the motor? If so and the main gear is sitting below the pinion gear. The two most common causes are the pinion gear has slid up on the motor shaft or the main mast has slid down. I would need to see the heli in person to diagnose further if either of those two are not the cause.
@ridermarque3 жыл бұрын
@@Rchelicopterfun yes, these are the right terms. thank you for your answer, I'll see what I can do. This is a funny hobby for me, as rc helis are easy to brake, there are no spares, and no persons to fix them here in my country. However, I seem to have developed a strange addiction towarda them. What has happened with my Eachine E160 was that in the second day of flight, instead of just hovering it, I had the bad idea of turning it 180 degrees, after extensive practice on simulator and a good control of the previous Hobbyking Firefox C 129. This is when it all went out of control. The heli accelerated, began moving faster, and I quickly lost its control. :(
