That's as good as it gets! It's running well and what makes me think you've got it this time is that when you step on it and it returns to a smooth idle afterwards and doesn't hunt or stumble....well, that's the whole package..It couldn't be expected to do more. Now just to hook up the nitrous oxide bottles and this is your new drag racer!

Yea that's really nice how it returns to a smooth idle. I don't have to dance with the accelerator to get it to idle, it just does it. There's still an intermittent poof out the exhaust now and then and I'd like to find that but I feel so much better. I'm sure I'll easily sail through a pre-race inspection as well. Seeing as only the front brakes actually work it'll make for easier burnouts in the pit!

@@heliarche Having Brakes on all 4 wheels is overrated!

@@EverydayProjects Back in the 30's and earlier, maybe through the 40's(???) it was rear brakes for the most part isn't it? Admittedly we weren't going as fast but it worked. Front brakes do most of the work anyways as far as I know. I think something like 70/30. I'm not breaking any speed records (YET) so I ought to be OK. I'll install drag chutes when I go for the compound superchargers and 300 shot nitrous kit!

@@heliarche Good plan on the chutes. I have a few left over from my days as a soldier of fortune in Zambia. Then again, now that I think of it, I have left over gear strewn half way across the globe but most is in the cellar beneath my villa in Equador. That's also where the helicopters are stored.

Man that’s incredible. What’s your plan?

Right off, I have to pull the intake and go over my valve lash. I hear ticking lifters. I know they won't be silent if they're set properly but a few seem louder than they ought to be. After that it has a slight shudder at higher RPM and under load so depending on what the valve adjustment does I may or may not be putting different main jets in the carb. After that, just bomb it around on the mountain here. There wasn't really much thought that went into this besides that I wanted to drive my Flathead! Maybe build it to the point where it's possible for it to be road legal but that's a ton of details. Oh, also maybe take it to car shows and park it right next to that pristine 49 chop top Merc just to get under someones skin HAHA!

Looks like an off-road Monster buggy, not a cruiser 😂
