We repaired them, remade cars with bugs in different countries, and so on. And we just rode on useful roads and then rented them back for twice as much as we bought them and the repairs cost 😁😁😁👍👍👍

The badge in the grill is definitely from Borchers Ford in Dayton Ohio and was made by the Thompson Mfg Co also of Dayton. Borchers was one of the earliest dealers having started in 1903.

I am 75 and I learned to drive a '38 just like this one. Starter is mechanical button on the floor to the left. Clutch is mechanical linkage. Crashbox 4-speed. 2-speed rear end with dual tires. I was 15 and drove it pulling sage and manzanita brush. There is a support by the throttle that I could move to the left to rest my foot on. Some brush was so tough to pull out that I could get the front tires off the ground while the rear tires with chains chewed up the ground.

That grille reminds me of my 1939 Ford School bus with a 1953 flathead engine I bought in the '70's.. Always started, too! Went from CA to Nebraska and back in the winter one year! Installed an Onan generator and several heaters onboard, plus several hot water heater units on rubber hoses to keep warm. 20" tires replaced, and the steering was adjusted by pulling down on the front axle, I recall. Adjusted brakes, changed the fluids, cleaned the windows, replaced the windshield wipers, and we were off! Wild ride coming down through the mountains in Utah in the winter. The gears would sing a beautiful song.

Apparently while the 1996 F-150 truck does have electronic ignition etc the engine it has originally had a distributor and a carburetor. So you could retrofit those parts onto a relatively new engine. The F-150 (and any other suitable modernized classic engine) will probably be the most modern, running, petrol cars one day!

Just because we don’t have the skills or tools. These things will be more ubiquitous as the future generations get into cars and they will learn their way around these systems/tools will be developed to simplify it. @@nev12345678910 Yup. I am clueless on carbs, except i can replace jets or whatever and flush it etc, but f tuning it. FI to me is just plugging it in and getting a computer box on it and then laptop for the rest (I am an IT Pro so doubt much could confuse me at that point). As for most of the cars today, the worst is the infotainment systems, but those can be dumped for new aftermarket ones, even in 2050+. And i reckon in 2050 most hybrid cars will just be dumped powertrain wise and get a crate electric motor with crate bats and done w that ... or maybe a SBC 350 if allowed.

Reminds me of my first vehicle, a '29 Dodge panel truck that I pulled out of the woods. The back plug on the flathead four-cylinder had rusted through and the piston was seized. I pulled the head, soaked it best I could, then found a piece of log that just fit into the cylinder, towed the car down the street with my brother steering while I whacked the wood with a hand sledge. The back end of the truck was hopping up and down, but when the engine finally let loose, that log went flying up in the air. We finally did get the engine running, though the updraft carb was so rusty I resorted to dribbling gas through the port for the vacuum wipers.

What a fun hobby you have, you're really talented in knowing how to get these old vehicles going. Very entertaining videos, look forward to them. That truck fully restored would be one really cool vehicle.
