For everyone compalining about this, it was done as PR by LFN. Iirc this was before a playoff game. LFN has N716LF station 2 miles away at KONO. about .5 miles to the right of the video, there is St. Alpansus medical center where the routinely transfer to and from. You would not believe how often this helicopter is doing night currency training. So calm yourself

Back in 1983 I was in a horrific auto accident in southeast Michigan. I was taken by Life Flight helicopter to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo Ohio. I thank my lucky stars that the helicopter wasn't dropping off a fucking football!

Captain here. The helicopter type is an Agusta A-119 Koala, a single engine variant of the Augusta A-109. Augusta is now called Leonardo. Flies away.

I think everyone in this comment section is just jealous they didn’t have an Agusta land at their High School. This is pretty cool. And to clarify, it takes about 10 seconds of research to find out yes this Ontario, Oregon with the Life Flight company based not even a 5 min drive away. Stop complaining they wasted so much money to do that, it was all of a 3 minute flight at most.

An 119 Koala burns 70 gallons an hour of Jet A which is $5.50 (on the expensive side of the average) in Oregon. Maintenance per hour (airframe and engine) is $533 Say they flew 20 min on the Hobbs aka start up to shut down, (being generous here to show you how inexpensive it actually is), that would be Total cost= (70/3)• $5.50 + $533/3 = $306 for that flight. People think it’s thousands and thousands of dollars, it’s not. And also, this doesn’t come out of taxpayers dollars anyways. They’re a non-profit HEMS operation. I’m sorry to go off on you like this, but it’s more for everyone else commenting how expensive and what a “waste of tax money” it is. Just enjoy the helicopter, they’re amazing machines!

I've seen the lights in person, they aren't bright unless you're inches away from it. And they're for the safety of other aircraft. They are called Anti-Collision lights. They're only really useful on the ground though. The strobes are like the anti-collision, but for the air. None of the lights are actually bright
