I like how you have shown the trial and error process of designing your flight sim. I can’t even imagine the total print time and material used. Keep up the amazing work!
@helimech81524 жыл бұрын
Hello from Brunei, the print times have been extreme, and my own stupid fault really. U always printed at 100% infill when the design was flawed. So now I print all promoting at 25%. The pla I have wasted is a real problem as we can't get it here. So I'm having to ration it and the prints I try. This is why there are so many different colours.

Just discovered your KZbin and I have been binge watching. Love your work, great presentation. Your designs could give the consumer peripherals a run for their money. If you could cast these in aluminium and use hall sensors this would be pro equipment.

Great effort and an awesome video to watch as always, Karl! I like these prototyping videos, because they let us see just how much work you put into the designs....just a note, for the gears, perhaps PETG would be a better choice? I know you mention ABS at the end, but PETG offers just as much strength as ABS, with none of the nasty smell/headache that induces :)
@helimech81524 жыл бұрын
Hi BK Hobby, I have actually bought several rolls of PETG, but never got around to using them. Thank you for the advice and I will give it a go! Kind regards Karl
@BKHobby4 жыл бұрын
@@helimech8152 Great! An added benefit to PETG over ABS is that it's much less prone to warping and actually stays on the build plate! If you haven't used PETG before, here are a few tips to you started: -Use retraction (especially on a bowden type printer) - PETG does get a bit stringy if you don't -Use a cooling fan for all but the first few layers (it helps with the part strength and reduces stringing, as well) -Use about 70C heat bed temp - helps the part stay on without any additives BTW, if you have a PEI build plate, all you need to do is wash it down with a bit of IPA (rubbing alcohol) to help adhesion....but if anything, I've had my parts stick too well to PEI! Looking forward to your next videos!

@@helimech8152 this material topic is what keeps me from going ahead and building my yoke. I really loved your 3D model and was about to purchase. But then i remembered what to use for the column. PLA yoke + aluminum pipe would be weird and probably not work well. On the other hand, a full metal manufacturing will require CNC... really lost in these ideas
