Karl, I think it’s awesome that you are having Josh learn and help you. The quality of father son time is great, Im looking forward to completion of your sim and seeing Josh in the left seat flying a commercial airliner. I have a feeling there is a commercial pilot career in Josh’s future! Great job Josh, you are so fortunate to have a father like yours. It’s important to get good grades in school and plan for a four year degree. Thanks again Karl!

I want to try to build one! What's the bed size of your printer? I think I won't be able to print the larger side plates I believe. My printer is 220 by 220 only.

Great job sir. You're a freak-in genius. There's however only 1 thing I would add and that's a piece of car window tint to the Two digital displays to darken the lit digits and to hide the unlit digits cause the way you have it now being un-tinted just doesn't look right. Aside from that very well done sir.......PROPS to you. 👍😃

He should do an April fools video where he goes through the designing and making of a realistic replica of the 737 in flight door ejection button and a bonus segment on making a mechanism to have your office door fling open for added realism. 😂

You are incredible!!! You definitely hit this one out of the park!!!!! I would love it if I could get the parts list,CAD files and supplier list… I would love to have this unit! I wish you were in the market to build and sell these, however I realize the print time is crazy as well as design time and assembly.. but it doesn’t hurt to dream a little. Thank you so much! I am a real world commercial pilot with more than 20,000 hrs PIC in turbine powered fixed and rotary wing aircraft. I retired in June 2022 and suffered two massive heart attacks 6 months later. As of now the only flying I do is arm chair sim flying….needless to say I am missing it huge. The B737-800 PMDG for MSFS 2020 is my aircraft of choice for sim flying… Again you are an AWESOME engineer, designer and aviation lover. THANK YOU!!!!!

I have a saitek throttle with the 737 handles but I cannot get it configured in MSFS for the MPDG B737-800. Great video! thanks your Awesome!

I got 2 of the displays in another project (A320 MCDU) ... 2 of them broke 1-2 days in use ... backlight burnt out due to high current ? (i cant explain it ;)) until i got one with another way how the backlight power is supplied...... have you checked that ? the one which is working is "VSDISPLAY 12,7 cm (5 Zoll) ZJ050NA-08C 640 × 480 TFT LED LCD Bildschirm und HDMI Audio LCD Controller Board (AT050TN22 Ersatzpanel)" ...

I made the Version 1 FMC for the AW-139 using the steps in that video. Definately not for beginners! The wiring was a nightmare to get all of the connections soldered without breaking an adjoining connection. This new one, although a little more expensive because of the PCB, should make it much more reliable and time efficent to build! Great work my friend!

3:28 its allways. rev 2 rev 3 coming and its full price upgrade. these connectors should be banned allready. first time phone had usbc there was no chargers anymore. so making packaking smaller means everyone need buy charger. means more packaking. what they wanted make better and change make it even worse xD. and its not matter if iphone have own usb IF other end is usba YES not usbc. every one have usba. usbc means buyer need buy usbc something anyway LOL. its kinda funny not even nerd had usbc when phone first time came usbc->usbc LOL all fine if other end would be usba. every charger bought last 15 years would work to charge new phone slowly unless its 0% go shop buy charger(more packaking)

Thanks Karl for your amazing work on this. I tried 3D printing the faceplates but couldn't get nice tolerances for the buttons. I will try resin printing tonight. I've mainly used resin printing for buttons and knobs so it will be interesting to see how such a large print goes. Question: Do you think you will provide a modified version suitable for Airbus? Very similar button placement I'd imagine and would open the size of the market for you? P.S. glad to know I'm not the only one that annoys their wife with resin fumes and clean-up ;)

Hello. Very impressed by your soldering skills!!! I have an issue with Mobiflight and my max7219 7 segments displays on my radio stack. They go off after 20 minutes roughly. I tested with a unique 7 segment connected to an arduino, nothing else on it, but same story, off after 20 minutes. The only way out is to relaunch mofiglight. Maybe have you an idea why this is happening. I also have added a 100ųf capacitor to the displays, but noting helps. The 7 segments have a dedicated 5volts power supply but with power supply or through the arduino, they go off
@helimech8152
@helimech8152 23 күн бұрын
You need to check out the data sheet and auto shutdown feature: When the MAX7219 is in shutdown mode, the scan oscillator is halted, all segment current sources are pulled to ground, and all digit drivers are pulled to V+, thereby blanking the display. The MAX7221 is identical, except the drivers are high-impedance. Data in the digit and control registers remains unaltered. Shutdown can be used to save power or as an alarm to flash the display by successively entering and leaving shutdown mode. For minimum supply current in shutdown mode, logic inputs should be at ground or V+ (CMOS-logic levels). Typically, it takes less than 250µs for the MAX7219/ MAX7221 to leave shutdown mode. The display driver can be programmed while in shutdown mode, and shutdown mode can be overridden by the display-test function.
