This is by far , the best video on helium (hnt) , especially regarding the placement of the hotspot , VERY PROFESSIONAL , you should HAVE WAY OVER 5k subscribers , just watch 10 different videos on HNT people and you'll realize how poor they are made , this is very important info so take notes , it may make a difference between making 300$ a month or 3000$ A MONTH !

There is a very tall hill by my house that I have a direct line of sight to, it has many antennas and towers on it. Do they let people add their antennas to existing infrastructure?

Which is not realistic for this project. but usually you can convince smaller businesses or individuals if you give them a percentage or fee

be sure to let me know how it goes, what antenna did you get? depending how well positioned the others are and how powerfull their antenna is, it's possible they reach you. I have one that was installed on a ground floor (temporary) and he still got 2 witnesses because the others were so well positioned

On that note, if I get 4-5 hotpots, do all of them have to speak to every other hotspot or as long it speaks to one, and that one speaks to another one and so on, is fine? I'll see if I can plan a live stream for Q&A, I just don't know if the channel is big enough to gather enough people for a live stream. Question: no they don't, it's just that if a hotspot talks to more other hotspots it'll get more rewards. So the more the better. But this is not a requirement. As long as they could speak to at least 1 other hotspot, your rewards will be acceptable.

if you are the only hotspot in town and you can't connect to anyone, then I would not do it. Or just buy 3 hotspots at once, then it worth it :P but that's a bigger investment, bigger risk and you need 3 good locations

thanks for watching! and it depends on where your second location can be. If it's both at sea level or you can put one on the attic near a window facing the other building which is at higher ground, you can still have a good connection. If you want to play it safe, you can buy 1 hotspot and then afterwards apply for a free one from emrit/coolspot. You'll only get 20% of the earnings of that hotspot but you have reduced your risk with 50% And I'm certain you'll be able to sell your hotspot very quickly as there are long wait times on them. So yes there is risk, but it's limited

disavantages are (as with any device you add to a network): security risks, data usage (in some countries you still have limited data on your internet subscription) and financial risk (you do an investment, the more hotspots are added, the less rewards you get and if HNT crashes, the value of your rewards crashes also and it'll take a while before you get a return on your investment)

thanks! and there is another german project, but their miner is almost 2K, so in that case I would rather buy a gaming rig and GPU mine XD if the market would crash I can still sell the gaming rig for 60% of its value. When it comes to security you are adding a device in your home network and it's a closed box. So if you are tech savvy, I would create a DMZ and put the miner in a DMZ. If you have very low cost cell phone networks, you could consider buying a 4G router with sim and simply hook it up to the 4G router, 100% shielded from your own data. When it comes protecting the data of devices sending info over your IoT device, I would not worry to much as the IoT network is not made for browsing, so very very unlikely that your bandwidth will be used for illegal activity. If you live in a city you might even be able to hook up your hotspot to the city wifi network

if you use the helium.place website, wherever you click is your own zone (as reference), so whereever you click will be a red zone around :) any other miner in your personal red zone will not connect to yours, that is all and even if you are alone, then you still make some HNT, about 10HNT per month. But if you connect to others, the rewards will go up a lot. So best to buy 2 I think

the red zone is the zone around the location you want to set up, so yes where ever you click, it'll draw a red zone :) it doesnt mean that area is bad, it just helps you see how far you have to stay away from another hotspot (if possible)

@@ezshil4582 yea but that is always the case, only very few people can be there from the start :) doesn't mean we shouldn't be happy with the gains that we can still make do keep in mind: more hotspots will increase the value of the network and push up the price, but more hotspots will also decrease the nr of rewards one hotspot can get. So things will level out eventually, the gains you get right now will become an exception.

hardly, most of the hotspots are placed on top of tall buildings because of the better range or at "third party" locations that simply host the device for a fee. And even then, you can't steal "a crypto". I don't know how you store your information, but I doubt many people have a little box that says "crypto keys" or "passwords". If you do; please change that right away as it's not secure

thanks for watching and sadly I'm not an RF/radiation expert. I use the basic assumption that waves in the free radio frequency are harmless as these wavelengths have been used for the longest time. When it comes to antenna power, it's not very strong, the basic antenna's are not much stronger then your cellphone. For these reasons I assume it's safe. just don't put 4 hotspots in a res 8, look at a res 7 and try to spread them out evenly. If you can cover a bigger range e.g. on a level 6, you can do that as well. Ok. I've just purchased after seeing loads of hotspots in Cardiff, Wales, UK. But was a bit sceptical as Bristol next door, a similar sized city had few to no hotspots which seemed a bit weird tbh. Yes you can boost the signal buy getting a stronger antenna And yes security is a very valid concern. Solutions: get a second/seperate phone line or 4g connection, get a managed router and put the hotspot in a seperated virtual network or buy another router and create a dmz, again shielding your private network from hotspot data. You can also monitor the data going over your network coming from the hotspot if you are into that. I agree you are putting a lot of faith in external people and i think it's good you keep these concerns in mind and limit your risks.

sadly no, the other devices will work but you'll not mine any rewards. In order to mine rewards you need a network key and those are no longer handed out for DIY projects. So in theory this would be possible, but unless you can get such a key, you wont get rewards

What is your take on security/privacy? You can pretty much tell the exact address of the hotspot by looking at the map. You also connect it to your home network. I know that blockchain is all about decentralization and non-traceability but i am very new to these stuff so i am a bit concerned. Also you don't know what traffic goes through the network. Those are very valid concerns indeed. But in one way it's not worse then a good old phone book that also has location info. However you do show that you have an interest in crypto and you could see that as a risk. When it comes to data, indeed you share your network. As with everything, putting new devices in your network is a risk. Having outsiders send data over your network is an additional risk. Therefore i recommend either using a second line or a 4g router so there is no contact with your regular network. That of course is a bit extreme. A simpeler solution is buying a managed router and setting up a subnet for your hotspot so it is isolated from the rest of the network. You can have the same result buy getting a second router and creating a dmz . But again, all valid concerns of which the second part can be solved easily in several ways of you have some technical knowledge or do some research

thanks for watching. At this point I would focus on getting the one that ships the fastest. The sooner you get them, the sooner you'll have a return on investment. As the price of HNT is high right now and the rewards are still good. But that can change fast, it is the crypto space of course. And almost all miners allow you to put on a stronger antenna, so I wouldn't worry to much about which model is best at this stage.

1) correct, so increased number of hotspots and decreased amount of HNT = less rewards for everyone. But if invester interest increases, then a limited supply combined with increased interest should balance the net result by an increase in price. This of course is best case scenario. 2) no issues here so far. Of course if your hotspot is witnessing 20 others and you actually have hundreds of devices sending data over your hotspot in the future, this will increase. But for now, very low usuage. If you are worried, you can limit the bandwith for your hotspot on your home router if it has this function (or buy one that has it, they are not very expensive)

And I just asked a friend to put one up on his building and another on his attic (inside). Usually you just put them on a higher floor near a window. Because indeed very few buildings have power on the roof and poor wifi connection. But for everything is a solution :D

Each investment has risks, so adjust your budget to your risk tolerance. If helium fails, the market crashes etc it'll be very hard/impossible to sell your miner. But yes, more devices = more hnt mined per day. However 4 we'll positioned miners will earn more then 10 poorly pisitioned ones. High locations (roofs, appartement buildings, etc) or preferable. The more land your hotspot van cover the better, this combined with: the more other hotspots it can witness the better. But there is a limit, putting 20 hotspots in a 2km radius is not a good idea as that concentration is too high and adds little value ad the sale quality coverage could be done with 5 Hope this clears things up. Good luck in San Diego, i think that is an interesting city to cover when it comes to potential data use in the future 💪

thanks for watching and subscribing! and there is no "try before you buy" because they are so popular right now, i think you would even make more money not sending it back and selling it on ebay with a profit ;) Indoor or outdoor, the setup is the same. If you put it outdoor just make sure you keep it dry by putting it in an outdoor box. An outdoor miner simply has this box already around it, that's the only difference. And yes you can go with any miner, just make sure you select the right frequency/region

no it support IoT not normal wifi usage. So it's for devices that have e.g. a temperature sensor or a motion sensor etc But it's a cheaper solution compared to e.g. a GPS chip + sim card
