Hello! Can I understand like this? Currently the small cell only provides the coverage of 5G around the location. But since helium does not provide rewards for proof of coverage, currently the freedomfi miner will not get extra rewards if adding the small cell function?
@metalwolf13 жыл бұрын
So are you paying a monthly fee and getting HNT rewards? I'm confused.
@captnjaygreybeard63943 жыл бұрын
Very interesting stuff, will be interesting how much the monthly phone cost will be. What I like about the Bobcat, once it is setup there are no monthly costs. Live outside of the USA so just a spectator on this device for now.

The monthly costs are just if you’re doing testing with your cell phone if your small cell.

finally after 10 months waiting I got my CBRS indoor cell. Set it up and just getting curios when the mainnet will start? I read maybe Q2 maybe 2023 :( I got really disappointed. After a long wait I have an expensive useless unit. Better to sell it and use the money wisely. However I am 100% happy with the freedomfi hotspot. I will keep that for sure.

Hey I have spectrum internet and am paying for 300 mphs speed and have a cat6 cable cables connected to the router to the my freedom fi n small cell. Yet I'm not able to get 100 speed in degraded at about 80 mphs . any help ideas? Should I upgrade to cat7 cables or something else to suggest here? Thanks
@edballou12 жыл бұрын
@@peraltaman Speed tests should tell you where it's working. I would connect right off your router...or even your cable modem directly (but only do so briefly). If you're not getting the speed your ISP says you should, I would call your ISP's support line as they will diagnose the problem. It could be a long cable run or another problem on their end that they can help you diagnose. I don't think the catX cable should be a problem, though one bad cable early in your setup could be contributing - especially if your speed test works at your router but not at your computer you're testing at. Hope this helps!

Ed - Thanks for the thoughtful video on this! Do you have a sense of the potential 5G earnings, and Return on Investment? And if you think it makes sense to purchase the indoor vs outdoor now, or neither at this time (they are both a bit pricey for both the Gateway and Cells)? My worry is that FreedomFi & Helium need to add more roaming partners, apart from Dish and GigSky network, to make the HNT reward via data transfer worth it. Otherwise, my sense, a regular bobcat miner with PoC would be a better investment at this time. Curious on your thoughts.

Thank you Ed! There were many questions around 5G and it's applications. One curious one I had was, the original Helium Hotspot for IoT LoRa coverage needed Internet/WiFi connection. Does this 5G enablement with indoor cell needs WiFi to enable 5G or is WiFi going to FreedomFi Hotspot only needs WiFi only for syncing blocks and POC (Proof-Of-Work)?
@edballou13 жыл бұрын
The FreedomFi miner and small cell still need a connection to your ISP. Highly recommend that you use ethernet over WiFi as you don't want latency introduced from your miner to your network when someone is using 5G service on their phone via your small cell. Hopefully that answers your question!

So would I need a FreedomFi sim card as well as the Gigsky app and a data plan from Gigsky to test the 5G equipment?
@edballou13 жыл бұрын
One or the other. I don't think there's any HNT being rewarded by either of these methods so far. I'm not sure how long the FreedomFi sim would be available/working. It could just be for this beta testing period.

Hey Ed can this also be used as a regular helium miner if u don't want to utilize it for 5g ? Or it's 5G only ?
@edballou12 жыл бұрын
Great question! The answer is yes - you can use it exclusively for LoRa mining, you would disconnect the 5G equipment. I don't believe there is a way to use it for 5G exclusively because it's not advised to go without an antenna on the miner.

how did you get the GPS antenna to stick to the RAK wireless antenna? Was it the red colored adhesive that came with the CBRS INDOOR SMALL CELL?

@@edballou1 what’a the point of hosting a indoor 5G hotspot in the residential area? Since the coverage is fairly small that you can only cover a few of your neighbors’ house, but your neighbors are likely to use their own WI-FI when at home and no using your 5G hotspot so you won’t have any reward. My understanding is that the indoor cells only make sense in a large social gathering locations like a mall or something.
