She left out the study groups where your peers help you. Evidence based medicine is also a better way to learn. I had to do it the old fashioned way - basic sciences with no patient contact first year and systems again with no patient contact second year. It ain't that bad now guys!

Could someone explain why in the US year two is the worst like is there some test or something? Because my second year is still like anatomy, physiology, hystology, embriology, biochemistry and pathology. Third year on the other hand is when we start going to the hospital with semiology and internal medicine along with horrible and hellish pharmacology.

Second year is much easier than 3rd year. That's not to say it is easy! (This song is meant to be humorous.) You study all the time - okay - that's what you signed up for - but 3rd year and internship are pure hell because of the enforced sleep deprivation. Internship is worse than 3rd year, because you are a doctor and there's no intern to ask your questions to, because you ARE the intern. It is terrifying. Graduated medical school, Class of 1987.

Oh, I see. For me, MS2 was easier than MS1 and much easier than MS3. The only courses that drove me sort of nuts were both in first year: histology, which is 50 Shades of Pink (I stole that joke from someone), and neuroanatomy, all grey, white, grey, white, grey....

Weird enough, I miss MS 1 - 3 and postgrad internship. Residency training was harsh. It’s a dog-eat-dog period. Your fellow resident in the same department aren’t your friends. My friends were the resident trainees from other departments.
