By far one of the best trail reviews I've seen in a long time. Very helpful in planning my trip out to Moab area. Your explanations and helpful tips were great. Thank you very much!

Best review I have seen so far. Better than even the Pro’s production versions. Simple, honest and exactly what 90% of Jeepers are looking for. As a native- borne Utahn who spends a lot of time in Moab and its environs I would say you nailed it.

@@RVHomeschool it sure was. We are looking forward to our first trip to Moab and to earning a couple more Jeep Badges of Honor. Then it’s off to Silverton for some much needed cool weather wheeling in the San Juan Mountains.

Glad you had a nice time. It was a little overwhelming for us but we survived. We’ve done four other badge of honor trails since then but Hells Revenge remains the scariest.

Very nice and detailed video. When one watches many of these videos you really can't get the lay of the land. You however did an excellent job of describing the trail and little details that most other videos don't talk about. Thanks for taking the time to do that. You guys did great through the whole thing. Nice wheeling on your part for sure!

Thank you. I don’t feel like we are the rugged Jeepers that many others are, but what we lack in Jeeping knowledge maybe we can help add with trail details, historical info, etc. Just trying to make Jeeping accessible to all who want to try it - so it doesn’t feel intimidating.

That is a fun trail, yes the end has a few spots that are not good for newer people. You would be amazed how much a rear locker would help ..

We don’t have lockers yet but will probably have to have them installed if we want to keep tackling tough trails.

It makes me jitter when I go back and watch it. Not sure we’ll be doing that one again anytime soon. We prefer the back roads that get us to nice views - not so much the tough technical trails.

Amazing VID, great looking ride, glad you guys had a ton of fun and yeah after a hot day in moab some water kayaking sounds fun as well LOL. question dow, if you check in to the badge of honer app and you just do half the trail does it still count to get the badge? I still havent down hells revenge, my jeep is still somewhat stock lol. aside from that keep on jeep'n and having FUN!!!
@RVHomeschool2 жыл бұрын
We only did half of Fins, and then we ended up doing Hells Revenge a few times because we had to backtrack twice when we couldn’t get through obstacles and had to turn around. So as long as you do some of it I think the app will count it. Just don’t forget to check in because the app requires you to be there.

Nice video and tips. Would have preferred less music but it was still good. Coming back out the way you came in is actually the recommended route. It's easier and less rocky. I did this trail recently in a KRX1000- didn't have any issues. Like you said, just take your time, go low and slow. Also, picking good lines is very important. I always lined up square with the incline, even if I had to back up to line up. I am not afraid to use my reverse gear or go around areas I am not comfortable with. I was fine however with the entire standard Safari route. I did not do any obstacles- saw Hell's Gate- no thanks! Your Jeep did great- next time, take up UP Shafer Trail and then DOWN Long Canyon. That is another fun drive and not too difficult. Also, the drive out to Chicken Corners is amazing and provides incredible views. We did that one starting at 6am since it takes longer and we like to avoid the heat. Good call on using those guides. I have that book too and it's great. Cheers!

Thanks for all of the advice. Are you referring to Shafer switchbacks by Canyonlands? We did Potash Road to Shafer Switchbacks. Might be the prettiest site I’ve ever seen.
@MOAB-UT3 жыл бұрын
@@RVHomeschool Yes, that's the one. It's a great drive. If you enjoyed that, you would also really like the ride out to Chicken Corners. It's really not a drive you will want to miss- maybe next time you visit! From the top of the Shafer trail, you can come back down via Long Canyon Rd. Optionally, from rt. 279, just before Potash, you can make a right (left and you are in the river!), drive over the RR tracks and that is the bottom of Long Canyon Rd. Here is a video I made showing part of that ascent. kzbin.info/www/bejne/panbioSqjcyteLs You took some great video of Shafer trail- I just watched your other video. You made some good observations about how the earth slopes down and best not to get too close to the edge. Ironically, I saw him sitting on the edge at the start of the video. Not a great idea. Locals know not to do that because of the infamous "Moab Mudd aka Red Dirt." Just under the surface, it can often be very wet, red mudd. Sometimes if trucks try to stop just before the edge and hit their brakes- they can keep sliding (even when it is bone dry on top.) It's best to go with your first instincts and stay far away from the edges! You are a great narrator too- sounds like you have been there many times. I guess you have been on many fun adventures. It's good that you get to travel so much. Where is that lake in your wallpaper? It reminded me of Tenaya Lake in Yosemite, CA. We just visited there too- hiked up to the summit of Half Dome. If you haven't done that yet, definitely add it to your bucket list. Cheers!

I’ll check out your video. We don’t live far from Moab so we’ll be back (but not in the heat of summer). We have been to Tenaya but the lake on our wallpaper is Jackson Lake in Grand Teton National Park.

Planning a trip to Moab. Is this something anyone can do? Those fins look kinda sketchy.
@RVHomeschool2 жыл бұрын
No. I think you need a modified Jeep (at least 2” lift). We don’t have lockers but we got into some tough spots and had to turn around and take another path twice. Definitely need experience on these types of trails. Maybe consider trying Fins and Things first.

@@RVHomeschool they have guided tours where they supply the vehicle and your follow a guide who is leading. Is that doable for the average Jane?

@@trig33kgirl I think it might be doable with an ATV (because they are smaller and closer to the ground). I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable driving it at all. Glad my husband did the driving. You might be braver than I am though. 😆

The phrasae/term you searched for is OFF-CAMBER. No, you cannot walk up that short part you said was too steep to walk down...before the big hill. We tried once when it was too snowy/icy to drive the rental up it. No one wanted to be in the truck!
