HELLBOY THE TANK - M18 Hellcat in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The M18 Hellcat in War Thunder is an absolute classic Tank Destroyer for the US tech tree. Except, the M18 GMC is now classified as a Light Tank!
The M18 GMC is a highly mobile platform equipped with the potent M1 76mm cannon. This gun can punch through 150mm of armour no issue at all and has a fairly quick reload of only 6 seconds!
The M18 has been subject to a few nerfs over the last 2 years leaving it mostly in the hanger of Allied players. Once upon a time the M18's would move in herds at the start of matches but now it's sidelined due to its higher battle rating. Fingers crossed we see more of it now that it's been updated!
Anyway, the M18 GMC is super fun to play and you should definitely give it a spin! :)

@Liam McGinity exactly. Its nye unplayable. I used to main America and I still do as far as aircraft are concerned but its just not fun to grind from 4.7 all the way to 7.7. Thats ridiculous. Either the tank gets shat on or is so expensive that its not work using. The super Pershing is not comparable to the tiger two p in any way shape or form. Sure it has a good round but its like the is2 but with way more exploitable weakspots. And the fact that America doesn't get an actual tank that has more than 149mm of pen till 6.3 is fucking abysmal. Wtf. Germany suffers my ass. America by far has the worst grind of any tree in the game at those brs

One of the best players too. Especially in CAS. Been trying to emulate him, but usually end up pancaking. My rocket fire has got more accurate from watching him though, to the point I can yeet and AA from a nice safe distance.

This tank holds my record for kills is squadron RB battle.. 1 air kill, 4 ground kills.. god it was such a heart pounding battle. My air suport had flown back to base to rearm, which left me alone as all my friendly tanks had died on the ground.. and the enemy had late spawned a ground pounder.. I managed to main gun the f8f-1b, then proceded to try to keep the tanks off the single cap, while dancing around a city map, facing off against 2 t-32's an is-2 and a king tiger... managed to kill them all, not sure how.. combination of blind luck, beer, and skill.. though my team knew to keep coms quite, as when Demonthral goes silent, he is in the zone..

It was actually somewhat of a nerf- with the SP changes last patch, light tanks can cost as much as mediums (150 SP) in a full uptier. Sure, it got the ability to scout, but that was coming for a long time anyway.

Thanks cheering me up again with your video. I just lost my faith in a part of the war thunder when I saw a germany player run a lineup consisting of the german 7.3 BMP-1 and the german 8.3 starter heli. And I know that he did this because I checked his player card. the BMP-1 was his highest BR vehicle. And I only checked his player card because he was complaining in chat that the german BMP-1 sucks (I wonder why a 7.3 vehicle sucks at 8.3, one can only guess).

I think he might have been using the stock missiles, because I didn't bother to research the better missiles and had to use the backbreaking controls to control the missile and only twice have I got a kill on them by doing a 2km and 3km trickshot. 3 years later after I find out that the other missiles have easier aim I instantly unlocked them and regret my whole life for not knowing before.

Honestly I like both the Hellcat variants. The 76mm is good, but the 90mm just punches so much harder. I do like the 76mm stabilizer though.

Great stuff buddy. Had no idea it was 4.7 at some point lol Feels OP even at 5.7 mainly because it is so mobile. Nothing backs up that fast except for a couple wheeled things, and none of the wheeled things have guns like that, so idk, feels like my favorite tank so far and I have been playing it sparingly to try to get all my 5.3 spaded before I move up.

to be fair US tank destroyer doctrine at the time was seek, strike and destroy. or in simpler terms it involved scouting. to quote General Bruce [creator of tank destroyer branch]"seek, strike and destroy means *vigorous reconnaissance* and destruction of enemy tanks", he also emphasized '*stealth* and deception' as part of the doctrine. infact one of the main criticisms of the M10 was its inability to properly preform the reconnaissance aspect of the doctrine.

Odd! lets see a combo vid with the Ju-188 being the main focus! usually i run either the Tiger H1, which is a beast in and around 5.3, or the pzIV/70 as my opener to get the Ju-188 up. its a pretty cool plane and more nimble for its size than you would expect. A lot more than the other frontline bombers Germany has. Idk, i think its a cool combo so id like to see it get some love on the channel :)

i got the premium M18 as part f the Weapons of Victory bundle a couple years ago. much better than the shite shermans (they are a mix of being too tall,slugish and slow in comparison to my prefferred vehciles). The m18's are pretty braw though.
