I had the absolute honor and privilege of meeting and hanging out with Joe, Tymon, and the rest of the Mescaleros in October ‘01 when they played at the Cajun House in Scottsdale AZ… and I can honestly say that was one of the most special moments of my entire life. One of those rare occasions when everything makes sense and you feel as though you could die happy in the moment. I have met some of my heroes before and been severely disappointed, but with Joe I had the opposite experience. He exceeded my already very high expectations. I could sit here and type all day about that night, but I’d likely wind up with carpal tunnel before I could even begin to scratch the surface. Joe was a one of a kind. A real gift to the world. He left us with some great life lessons and even though he’s been gone for over 20 years now, his legacy will always live on.
This song gets me emotional to the point I almost tear up and I feel it swelling inside me idk what it is but I sure as hell wish Joe were still here. We need more people like him in this world, especially in these times.

I look back on that night as one of the greatest and most special moments of my entire life. So interestingly, it seems like the opinion on this is coming around. More and more people I meet love the record. Most of the ones I've met who don't are ones who like the Clash's earlier work but didn't give it time to digest. My, and some other people I've talked to's, view on it is that it's just so much that it's a bit overwhelming, and so different than their previous stuff, so people write it off, but everyone I've met who has really given it a chance freaking loves it, like on par with or better than LC. But yeah, it's a freaking awesome album. Then again, every single one of the Clash's albums is worthwhile in my eyes (I don't count Cut the Crap personally, but I can't fault those who do).

I was born in the late '60s so when the punk and new wave explosion happened I had all the original Clash and Sex Pistols albums and singles. I don't know what happened to them, but I know some of the Pistols singles are worth money now. I think Joe Strummer and Mick Jones are one of the great songwriting partnership's. Like the greatest obviously Lennon and McCartney, Jagger and Richards, Strummer and Jones, Morrissey and Marr from the Smiths who were the best band of the '80s for me. You had all this Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club shite. Style before substance. Then thank God the Smiths came along and made some brilliant singles and albums. Johnny Marr's excellent guitar lines and Morrissey's lyrics made for songs that People like myself could relate to. I believe Johnny Marr is one of the all time great guitarist's. I'm not putting him up there with the unbelievable Jimmy Hendrix, but he is an amazing guitarist. How Soon Is Now is just amazing because of what Johnny Marr's doing with his guitar. Also Ian Brown and John Squire of the Stone Roses. The clash made some excellent tracks. London Calling is one of the all time greatest singles. White Man In Hammersmith Palais is another classic. Janine Jones, Clash City Rockers, Bankrobber, Police and Thieves, Stay Free, I Fought the Law, Straight To Hell, Hateful, Rudie Can't Fail, and I love Burnin' Streets. Joe Strummer is a legend. Gone too soon.
