I kinda wish the Automatons had different variants for the different biomes on the planets, OD Green for jungles, different design to resist joints freezing on ice planets, that rebel concept for hot climates with helmets to protect their head cameras, etc. Either way, the cut content's got really cool ideas

Deserts using tarps torn from supply caravans during their last days before the planet was taken (make those destroyed vehicles have a meaning aside from random single vehicle patrols), and the survivors were forced into bunkers for liberation. Makes the corpses found in their camps all the more tragic.

Everyone was taught in Super history class and therefore knows that the cyborgs were enslaved then reincorporated into the Democrtatic Federation of Super Earth after the first galactic war, I should know, as I (was) a proud Cyberstani citizen to serve Super Earth. But then the bots reclaimed Cyberstan and liberated their cyborg parents from our own democratic and just clutches. Automatons, always ruining the best thing about our Federation.

Since most planets we can visit are far from Super Earth and presumably pretty recently inhabited, I imagine they wouldn't yet have the funding to build entire cities. Dirt road networks between buildings and out of the map would be cool though

Might as well add some more: In the early trailers for the game, you can see that instead of levels, war impact was shown instead, much like HD1 Also on the galactic maps you can make out text for the two factions: The Automaton Blockade Worlds and The Great Hives of the Terminid Quarantine Zone. There’s a whole lot more that i may come back and add to this in an edit.

Helldivers 1 had a down system. They were likely gonna go with that system in HD2 but decided against it, so it could be left over code from when they were testing it.

I think seeing an aquatic map with crustacean terminids would make sense in tying the old game with the new one. It'd be nice to see just how insane these terminids can get due to evolving like we've been seeing. The impaler is an amazing example of a familiar enemy like the charger with a great look, and crazy ability

Honestly a fourth Parasitic faction would be cool to have. Having controlled variants of all 2(3) other enemy factions would make it a unique combat style. Or at the very least in the future- it would be amazing to have eradicate or king of the hill missions on contested worlds where it's a 3-way fight between SE, bots and bugs.

First and foremost, please go look at the lore of the game, the rebels are in fact the current automatons, they are the evolved version of the cyborgs of the first game after 100 years between the two games. Second, the concept art you show were never meant to be in the game, as the name suggest it's a concept art, it's an art to start putting an image on an idea. Third, if you want to make assuption about stuff and say it was like that at one point, please verify first cause the only correct thing you said was about the helmets passives... ;)
