Helldivers 2 - Destruction of Meridia and Black Hole Aftermath

The action starts around 6:56.
I was logged in and in orbit of Meridia today, June 2 2024, when the mission to inject the Meridia supercolony with enough Dark Fluid to collapse the planet had finally completed. A forced FTL jump was made away from the planet at the moments before collapse, and upon return the resulting black hole can be observed from a safe distance. Liberty won today!
This Helldiver would like to personally thank all the freedom-loving patriots who helped make napalm to support the final push. Without your help, our struggle to turn Meridia into the galaxy's biggest bug Hoover would have been much harder. Super Earth salutes you!

I think one of the NPCs onboard has it right; we use bugs to make E-710 for our warp drives.. so what happens when you compress a supercolony of bugs into an infinitesimally small point?

@@__LC__ Yes but also a Halo Reach reference. I’m making a joke about how this could be a portal for the Illuminate to travel through, who were a dangerous enemy in the first HD game. The slipspace rupture comes from a scene where a huge alien carrier is destroyed and it’s seen as a massive victory, but then a minute later the AI voice says “Slipspace rupture detected” Another alien ship has just warped into orbit. Just when you thought you finally fought back hard enough and sacrificed enough to do some damage, here is another ship to replace the last one. “Slipspace rupture detected” Another ship jumps in “Slipspace rupture detected” Another, the camera shifts to a satellite feed showing more colossal ships jumping into orbit, meanwhile the comms are becoming increasingly frantic and panicked as people realise what is happening “Slipspace rupture detected. Slipspace rupture detected. Slipspace rupture detected. Slipspace rupture detected.” The one ship you worked so hard to destroy has now been replaced with dozens more of the same class, with hundreds more smaller vessels in escort.

Dude I was on Meridia the night before and when I woke up and logged back on I was in the black hole panicking bc the first thing I saw was dark and purple and all I heard was "EMERGENCY!"

Dude same, I saw the black hole behind my ship in the cutscene before I went third person and rushed to the window to futilely try to catch a glimpse before I left it.

My theory is that the Illuminate use this black hole to travel back in to this part of the galaxy.

@lukemehalick370 sure. But what if instead of being in their own sector of the galaxy, what if terminids and the Illuminate end up in what is now currently terminid territory? You could have planets of all terminids, planets of all Illuminate, and planets where both exist, and when you do missions you face both enemy types. And, what if the terminids and Illuminate fight each other just as much as us? Imagine chaotic missions where you've kited a terminid patrol in to a group of Illuminate, and both try to kill you while simultaneously trying to kill each other. Oh the possibilities!
