if you couldn't see the any of the panel, it could theoretically take you 4,096 tries to get it right.

that's incorrect, you aren't seperately putting in each button and checking the combination afterwards, your are putting in a sequence wich immediately returns an error when the first input is wrong, so theoretically the maximum amount of tries would be 4*6=24.
