In that interview, I can almost GARUNTEE a lot of those buffs were going to come with the weapon upgrade system like in HD1 but the devs were like “oh shit. We need to push these buffs out NOW or we’re not gonna have any players to present this to.” “We had a drum mag lying around, we put a duckbill choke on the shotgun, the lasers now ignite faster” sounds almost identical to the kinds of upgrades you’d see in HD1 So they just fast tracked the upgrade system and said they were buffs. Which honestly I’m not too unhappy about.

Dear Arrowhead, I am glad to hear that my primary has been buffed (Liberator Penetrator) and that you have kept your promise to the Helldivers community. I will admit that I was initially skeptical when you set forth on your 60 day journey to fix your game, but when you started giving previews of the patch notes, I was hyped, especially after hearing about the railgun. You have clearly and evidently shown that you are committed to listening to your community and I have the utmost appreciation for that, and I gladly encourage you to continue to do so. I know some gamers are a tough crowd to please, especially in this time period. We don't act the way we do solely out of anger or hate, but out of love. We love this game, and we want it to be enjoyable, we want it to be successful. Despite the obvious satire, the Helldivers series also promotes one of the most honorable messages of all by putting you in the position of fighting on the front lines in the name of defending Super Earth's Managed Democracy. Defending Democracy is ALWAYS a noble cause, many of our forefathers have fought and even made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom from generation to generation, and we owe it to them to do the same. Democracy is only as safe as it's people are vigilant, and when it comes to Super Earth, this responsibility falls into the hands of you, the Helldivers, to protect Managed Democracy from it's dangerous enemies. With how valuable of a message this game promotes, I encourage you to continue this noble work on this game and work to continue pushing to end the sales restrictions on Steam caused by the earlier PSN account linking thing that Sony backed down on. The game says "Every citizen is equally important to the war effort, but Helldivers are the most important." Under this statement, if every citizen is equally important to that war effort, then any citizen should be able to choose to become a Helldiver. Stay the course and continue listening to your fans, you did a good job over the past 60 days. Be proud of yourselves. This is SES Shield of Victory, we will see you again among the stars very soon.

It makes sense. If I remember right they have compulsory service over there so most of them have served in their military for at least a short period of time. I remember back when the game came out operator drewski put out a 45-minute video of some games he was able to play with Johan and a couple of days and they talked a lot about that.

Very pleased that these changes seem to follow the emphasis on verisimilitude that was mentioned before. Anti tank missiles destroying armored targets, flames cooking stuff, lasers not having recoil, cannon/high caliber rounds not just bouncing, damage and stun accumulating to an effect, weak points actually being weak and fatal, light rocket enemies not having infinite rockets. This is all fantastic.

I believe from physics, while light doesn't have any mass. It does impart inertia onto whatever it hits. Its extremely extremely small, even a concentrated laser probably shouldn't have any recoil you can feel but I just thought it was a fun fact that light would technically have a micro amounts of recoil.

Some phycisists did the math if how powerful the laser gun from fallout would be by calculating how many calories a super mutant behemoth would contain in order to find the energy needed to vaporize it, dividing that number by how many shots it takes to kill a behemoth with a laser gun, figuring out how many photons it would take for each shot to be energetic enough, and finding out that just the momentum from the mind-boggling number of photons released at once would equal the recoil of a 9mm bullet

To anyone thinking that AH lied previously about not being able to revert fire damage -- They are being a little glib about it here, but it was not a simple revert. When they changed fire damage, they changed how it worked at a base level and it was shared across all the old and new fire weapons, so messing with it would have immediately fucked up all the weapons they just introduced. When they said "we switched it back" they went back and reworked it at a fundamental level, retweaking everything using fire, which most likely took a ton of work and wasn't possible at the time when they got the initial backlash.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the fact that we have the CCO of a studios sitting here able to openly take accountability and say "we fucked this up" and actually put in the work to attempt to make it right for the community. Even with all the nerves I still thoroughly enjoy playing the game whenever I've got some free time (I'm a weekend warrior given that I don't have the time to really dedicate to gaming like I wish I did) but man this update sounds like it's going to be fun when I hop back on. @@TheFallenAngel13524 one thing I noticed from this is kind of the subtle hinting at they finally took the time to fix the back end issues in the coding that was the reason for a lot of the nerffs. It seems like a lot of the nerfing came from issues on the back end where things simply weren't working as intended or were causing other problems for the game so instead of trying to "balance" with all of those issues still in place now they actually fix the issues themselves. Or at least that's what it sounded like to me 🤷 It's still a breath of fresh air to hear honesty from someone in a position of power in the gaming industry.

But I always enjoyed the feeling I had when we had the Quasar first released by example and it one or 2 shoted Titans if you were precise with it, before they nerfed the damage and cooldown. The problem I had since the beginning of their patches, it was that they always tweaked the guns that people were using the most by bringing them down. And all of it was done while buffing the enemies by releasing new types of enemies and harder difficulties. On top of that, the tweaks were all for ''realism purpose'' which I never really swallowed as an acceptable excuse. I hope it makes sense 😅

@@takumifujiwara9181 I've never once played a game where "over tuned" weapons were the reason players left. If anything, it makes it so that the weapons do what they are intended to do, kill things. The only people who complain about "over-tuned" weapons are the elites and tryhards, of which is a far smaller number to a community than the general community. And those people will always say things are "too easy" so there is no appeasing those types anyway. They are handling this in a very smart way and opening the game in a way that allows the entire community to enjoy a PVE type game.

yea the final nail in the coffin for me was when they upped the patrol rate, if i wasn't using something op i was just stuck fighting wave after wave if i made one mistake. usually i like to finesse underperforming choices but i was getting dps checked. even with a better build the combat was more exhausting than enjoying. (yes i could just run past everything but that was very boring and not why i played the game, i wasnt fighting every single thing but "stealth" is just not well designed) I assumed more patrols would mean more fun but that just meant more ragdoll, headshots and less opportunities to fight back. hoping the armor pen reworks will let the tenderizer be more than a reloading simulator

But in no way i was happy with the nerfs etc. It made everything way more difficult, not because of the challenge of the difficulty but because you had little options for loadout that could actually carry the Mission. The thing is that some people made It to be sometimes way more tragic that It was but finally they changed the situation.
