I've died to every one of those. Some embarrassing things you missed: - dying by walking into a random bottomless hole. - dying by bouncing a grenade off a bug's armor and into your own face. - dying by throwing a contact grenade and getting "GET DOWN MR. PRESIDENT!" by some random bug. - Dying by cooking a grenade too long. - Dying by ragdolling while holding an orbital bombardment strategem (which falls to the ground and activates). - Dying by throwing a strategem and getting it stuck on your, or a teammates, shield. - Dying by sticking a strategem on a bug, who promptly brings it right back to you like a dog playing fetch. - Dying to your sentry turrents by getting between them and the enemy. - Dying to your mortar sentry by forgetting about it and getting too close to the enemy. - Dying while walking around in your new mech due to squishing a charger corpse, which happens to set off the hellbomb charge it was laying next to.... ASK ME HOW I KNOW ABOUT ALL THESE THINGS! I DARE YOU!

Not to forgett: Throwing a grenade into a bug hole.. and in exactly that moment a bug comes out and bounces it back into your face.

That one with the shielded strategem should be a classic cartoon-like sketch 😅 Regarding AI playing fetch, happened to me in other games before. Thinking you timed it right, and then realize that, yes, that timer is a bit longer then you counted on which not only blows up the enemy but also you along with it. Bonus points if you are the unsuspecting player whom the AI beelines to when it went to play fetch 😭 Turrets and friendly fire is a TF2 classic. Especially with those damned spies if you're playing whack-a-mole with them as an engineer

Getting thrown off a cliff because of the backblast from a teammates rocket launcher is probably the most embarrassing way ive died.

I learned the hard way, that when we launch a nuke it's basically the same thing, We were launching it, I figured I'd back up just to be safe as this is the kind of game where it'll some how kill me I figured, I run a decent distance, it takes off it flings me off a cliff and another guy was closer and died instantly. Overall was a great first launch experience.

Did you know some bullets can ricochet off of bug carapace? There's a clip of someone shooting a charger with an autocanon and it bounced off, killing another helldiver. as per my personal experience, I got to use the flamethrower the first time. Relished in hellfire as I scorched the earth to make a moat of flames... then proceed to walk through said flames, giving me my first ever death in the game. The flamethrower was not a strategem. I picked it up in one of them sites of interest so I was level 1 when this happened.

Ha ha! I had that happen once! Runner up is we started one of the termicide special missions. Due to start location selection and 'wind' Two of us were forced into a coolant pond. What is more embarassing than dying on the initial pod drop?

Using the auto cannon behind cover, only to pull the trigger when the barrel is just slightly too low, resulting in me blasting my cover and exploding my limbs. It’s definitely happened more than once.

I feel like a lot of "Death-Hole" related accidents are missing. Be it accidentally diving into them when you try to dodge enemy attacks or seeing what happens when you throw a Grenade down there...

1. Calling in a support weapon and being killed not by the pod but the rocky debris the pod kicked up. 2. Accidentally setting yourself on fire with your flamethrower. 3. Cliff diving into cover because you thought you could avoid taking fall damage if you did it.

My buddies and I dropped on Malevelon Creek. One guy decided (against everyone's advice) to bring a mortar turret. I pull a pin on a grenade to throw it in a fabricator when the shockwave from a mortar round knocks me over. I then promptly get blown up by my own dropped grenade

The most embarrassing death is when you casually walk into a contact mine when nothing is going on, just because you weren't watching where you were stepping. Happens to me pretty much every other bot mission because I get distracted easily.

As for embarrassing deaths- Getting your arm broken whilst pulling out an air strike beacon, and seeing it flop to the ground awkwardly before you explode with perfect comedic timing. Or my most common one until recently- misjudging the range of my Tesla turret, then having it arc a bolt of lightning onto me, then out into my whole team, killing is all and leaving me very sheepish in the respawn. ….. Love HD2, genuinely might end up being GOTY.

I'd add to this: falling down a volcanic hole in the map you didn't see, being launched into the sky by exploding foliage, throwing a grenade at a bug hole only for a bug to spawn out of it and bounce the nade back at you, and setting an enemy on fire only for that enemy to continue attacking and set you on fire in turn!

Fun fact you can use the exo suit to avoid drowning. They are air tight apparently. So during missions on planets with mostly water (you know the ones) you can use the suits for easy straight line traversal instead of using the land bridges

One time I got launched out of bounds during an eradicate mission and was branded a traitor. The gunner's aim was a bit off that day so I decided to run into the middle of a horde of termanids and sent them to kingdom come with me. I was frankly shocked by how long I lasted between the artillery and the bugs surrounding me. It was wild.

I would like to add a few from my experiences of playing way too much of this game: -Yeeting myself off a cliff to avoid enemy fire -Wandering into a minefield -Attempting to retrieve gear from a minefield -Standing too close to ICBM launch -Standing behind an ally with a rocket launcher -Mistaking my grenade launcher for an SMG -Bouncing a laser off an armoured enemy and directly into my face and brain -Overclocking my railgun -Miscalculating minimum safe distance of my own actions -Throwing a grenade into the wrong hole -Insufficient caution around unexploded ordinance -Setting myself on fire

I love all the friendly fire, pod crashing and general chaotic ways to get got. I hope they dont patch any of it out. In real combat people get taken in the chaos in many ways and the fog of war is very real. Helldivers is a delight because of how true to live combat it is.

My two favorite ways i've died is picking up my grenade launcher off the ground, immediately forgetting it is equipped and bouncing a grenade off a point blank hunter into my face and landing my hellpod on an automaton tank only for it to explode, launch me a million miles away, then finally kill me on impact. Got a clip of that last one, it was awesome

Throwing an impact grenade into a bug hole you're standing right next to, forgetting that the entrance of the hole is where the grenade detonates, and summarily getting a face-full of shrapnel. That is probably the second most embarrassing way to die, after being landed on by the Pelican.

I had someone land on me the other day, when I was in a mech. That actually made me a little upset, since the mech is limited use and it should be a lot easier to see and avoid landing on mech by accident.

1) Trying to call in an orbital strike or airstrike and either tripping or get knocked down, only to call down the strike on yourself. 2) trying to call in a resupply or package, bouncing it off a wall or rock into youe face, only to run around lile a chicken before dying to the supply pod.

I've heard some players use the "out of bounds" penalty to try to help pound down the enemies. They get at the edge just long enough to incur the bombardment, then run back in and dodge as long as they can.

Turrets. You forgot the turrets! Mortar turrets in particular are a bloody menace - you pop one down because bugs are trying to crawl up your nose and it very diligently mortars both the bugs and said nose.

Remember - switching to your sidearm is always faster than reloading! Unless your sidearm is also unloaded, in which case, make sure you have your will filled out with your next of kin information.

Some people have apparently using the tactic of calling for a reinforcement as a weapon against big bugs. Call down a reinforcement and the reinforcement tries to aim for the biggest bug they see.

My favourite is still the meteor showers. 3/4 of my squqd have no problem with them whatsoever. My brother gets killed by them every time, sometimes multiple times. At this point, his silence speaks volumes 😅

I really value the improved gun discipline that this game fosters in the gaming subconscious. Friendly fire and realistic reloads should be features in every game. Would love to see realistic limited ammo capacity due to sheer weight, trigger discipline, mishandled guns jamming, and slide bite, feature in a videogame too. I'm still surprised that not one of the everyman Silent Hill protagonists have suffered at least one slide bite.

It's actually possible to survive the traitor execution. With some serpentine movement, a bit of luck, and a lot of stims (and some blast resistance) you can run around the mission area and let the 'execution bombardment' destroy enemies and objectives for you. Useful when theres an enemy base full of robots near the map edge, or a swarm of bugs on the extermination missions.

I had a death where: 1. I died to a bile spewer (pretty standard) 2. A teammate called me back (yay) 3. I crushed him (oops) 4. He was prepping a 500kg, which landed at my feet. 5. I, along with everything around me, exploded. I laughed so hard.

It doesn’t help that the steering on the Hellpods doesn’t seem to work sometimes. I don’t know if it’s just a console issue, but I’ve noticed that on occassion, I can’t steer my pod basically at all, for an indiscernible reason. It just won’t move.

I remember going out of bounds because there was a river between us and our objective, my entire squad followed me and we all got nuked, for some reason reason all of our games crashed (I think theirs did because they left and I crashed even though we had a lot of reinforces)

If you find yourself in close combat with the bugs having not reloaded since last skirmish, just introduce them to the Liberty offered by the butt of your rifle! Repeatedly, and enthusiastically! Anyway I'm a fan of when I try to launch a grenade and it bounces off a heavily armored bug directly into my own face. Or when I turn around too fast while I have a laser-drone flying over one shoulder, and it wants to stay on the same shoulder but also wants to keep shooting the bug that is now on the other side of me, and swings the laser beam directly through my neck.

I got to experience all those deaths within my first couple hours..my favorite death was from a bile titan. I killed it, then it the the bug corpse slowly fell into the earth and killed me. Freedom never tasted so sweet
