I made the same mistake of bringing in the senator. Been digging the eruptor primary and dagger secondary. Use the eruptor for taking out packs and the dagger for single stuff that is close to either me or a teammate. I've also been slowly getting into the railgun game and back to my old friend of recoiless rifle.

I had the most fun since the beginning of the game with the orbital gas strike and the blitzer. No ammo problems, enemied run in circles and get zapped - 500kg for heavies and 120 mm orbital for bug nests and stuff.. it worked like a charm in solo play! As support weapon i had the recoilless rifle

The excellent: gas grenade (use it like an AoE stun grenade / throw it between you and what's chasing you. SOOOO good) The good: gas strike (shut down bug breaches. combine with napalm eagle / 120mm for huge and consistent value. combine it with gas armor and you can stand in the gas strike and have no way for the enemies to get you.) The okay: sterilizer (you can reliably confuse / stun large groups, but you need something else to kill them. Laser Rover + Torcher primary are ideal.) The bad: dog breath (just focus fires one target, confusing it. Because the spray rarely kills the target, it rarely swaps targets. So it just stuns a single target ... suffice to say, laser rover is better in every way.)

Here is my take on buffs for the gas items: Gas nade: Let it destroy bug holes, it's a corrosive gas that also damages nervous systems like a poison. Let it "melt" the bug hole. (Unrelated but I think the flamethrower should be able to burn them out after a few seconds of shooting/certain amount of damage done via shooting fire into the hole) Dog breath: Since it already has unique guard dog AI that makes it fly over to enemies to spray them, why not have it wiggle the gas sprayer back and forth so that it covers a cone-area in it's mist? Keep it's damage like it is, but let it do slightly more crowd control that stays limited via it keeping it's focus on a single enemy, just having it's attack being a side to side sweeping motion. Sterilizer: Give it slightly higher direct damage, it does a total of 78 dps or something pathetic like that. Make it good at stripping armor off of... armor strippable areas (Charger/Impaler/Titan Legs, Backs, and Sides for example) And lastly: Make it leave a cloud that lingers for a half-second where the spray lands so it has the capacity to affevt more than one enemy with a "lingering" effect like the flamers. And the most important of these last two: Give it the ACID RAIN ~~de~~BUFF, making it so enemies that are specifically under the effects of the Sterilizers stream of fire have that armor reduced by one. This would let someone take a Jar-5, Lib-Pen, MG-43, Adjudicator, and so on do damage to a Hulks/Chargers/Titans body. It would also allow them to do non-armor matching damage to thinks like Tank/Turret Tower Heatsinks. Would allow them to shoot and damage Mortar/AA emplacements so a Hellbomb/other heavy ordinance wasted is unneeded. And yes, it would also let The HMG, Autocannon, and AMR do full damage through the armor of Chargers/Hulks/Titans instead of armor-matching damage. (It would also let certain light penetrating weapons do things. Like having a Tenderizer, Breaker/S&P, Scythe be able to shoot a Tank heatsink and deal semi-effective damage all while a guy with the sterilizer is crouched in front spraying the tank while it can't do shit.

they could make the armor stripping for gas a ship module like arc and flame modules. the armor stripping for all gas damage makes sense, adds interesting game mechanic, and further solidifies it's separate identity from flame

Have been using the Gas Strike and I love it now more than ever. It's exactly what I wanted from it apart from just hurting enemies. It works great for assisting my team mates so that everyone can line up their shots better while the enemies are disoriented.

(Not th3 discord, you can't make me go back) Had a game, waiting on shuttle, big hoard of bugs working their to over run us, watch a gas grenade go off, suddenly a charger just comes plowing through from the side. Killing everything infront of us. We laughed, they cried, fun all around. 5/5 would extract again.

Then this level 82 guy joins, i’m using the arc thrower and another guy who’s level 12’s using the exploding crossbow, one of us accidently shoots him. The gas disorienting the enemies makes it so good against the terminids. However, the DOT is low, so you arrived at the same conclusion that I did for adding fire. Dog Breath being super independent is great and will totally save your life in a tactical retreat because it keeps the enemies from gaining on you too much. I feel like running dog breath and either gas grenades or gas strikes to control chasers and breaches coupled with like, flamethrower or orbital napalm is the new meta. I've really been noticing that throwing a gas grenade or gas strike, especially on a breach, really keeps it contained for a 500 or napalm to do the heavy lifting. So great utility, but the varied formats are not meant to be stacked. Just use what works into your loadout for some CC.

@@TheCamaro5 they reworked the gas on the 17th patch. Before the chemical agents warbond (which was released on 19th) there was only one stratagem that used gas, and it was bit plain. So they changed it to be more of a support thing, lowering damage and giving it confusion(?) effect. 🙂
