Some info about how to get a refund. Go to help steampowered and select Purchases. Then look at "I need help with a previous purchase or shipping." and pick Helldivers 2. Do NOT pick "I would like a refund", but select "I have a question about this purchase" Then just say what has happened like you now need a Sony account and you don't trust them with your data, they changed their ToS or something like that. Make sure to do this when the mandatory login has happend, so after May 30. (save this in notepad for later use)

You can ask for a refund, if you're in a country with no PSN coverage, as you'll be effectively locked out of the product you've purchased by the publisher, without breaking any TOS.

When Sty asked, "What is it with games I like and fumbles?" That hit home for me. I loved Evolve and they fumbled the monetization. My personal experience from playing ~200h there has been miniscule amount of actual aholes I have encountered in the game. If they went "Hey new accounts past May 30th need a PSN account. Existing accounts can link to a PSN account for a free 1000 supercredits enough for a premium warbond, and a free armor set, but it's optional". This would have resulted in more people linking PSN accounts overall with little to no backlash. People who bought the game without the ability to make a PSN account could still play, and anyone not wanting a PSN for their own reasons Valid or not could avoid doing so. It also gives an incentive to link that many people would agree to. Its about the best compromise I can see. Ideally, we wouldn't have a PSN requirement at all, but I don't see that happening. I would be happy to be pleasantly surprised.

they should just keep it optional, then provide like a bonus item for linking like a lot of other games do, if you link them you get a special cape or something, if its really about driving numbers and getting data

I could link it but like you said I played it yesterday amidst all this and idk it just felt off it wasn't fun for the first time like I played it to finish my 3 but I didn't even read the major order I just played it and it felt off
