Starship Troopers was so insanely ahead of it's time. Even the critics didn't know what to think of it. Coupled with state of the art 90s CGI and animatronics, along with actors who gave it their all. Absolutely timeless movie and I love it's getting more attention with Helldivers and games based on the Starship Troopers franchise.

What's crazy is that the director of the Starship Troopers infamously didn't even bother to read the book. I believe he claimed it was just fascist propaganda. Which is ironic because, from what I've heard, the book is nothing like the movie and is super libertarian and about personal liberty and responsibility. Edit: fixed a word

Best reaction video ever! As a kid, I read the book and then when the film came out, I watched it over and over and over. When i got old, I had the chance to meet Casper at both Comic-Con and Wondercon in California. He's a great guy, and his movie Starship Troopers is still as entertaining as ever. Now as a Helldivers 2 player, I only wish that Casper could have seen the Bile Spewers shooting out their rears (aka Plasma bugs), or the maniacal laughter from someone shooting a machine gun non-stop screaming phrases that could only have come from Starship Troopers. Even better, sitting on the bridge of your ship when you are above the Automaton planet and now the bots are shooting up towards the ships and causing some of them to explode! If Casper had seen videos of what I've described, his mind would have been even more blown!

This was such a great idea to get Casper Van Dien reaction/opinion especially since Helldrivers is simply a spiritual successor to the movies and to the few StarShip Troopers games that were created. It still pretty badass that Casper still can pull off his Rico's persona, kinda the same energy you see from Arnold Schwarzenegger from the terminator series, Michael Biehn from Aliens, Peter Weller from Robocop....man as a Gen Zer you guys in the 80s and 90s had it made

@@jefferydraper4019 Honestly, giving him a reboot to do it 'right' (in terms of the source material at least) would be great. Not that the original wasn't a fantastic flick. It just wasn't nearly close enough to the source material. If it gets the 'alright, now we do the original material justice' treatment, I'll pre-order tickets and hobble my disabled ass into a theater seat.

@@AdeptusCaeiusIII If you changed the character names, i dont think anyone would realize the movie was based on Starship Troopers. And thats basically what Verhoeven did in reverse. he wrote a story, based on a conversation, added some names from the book and made a movie.
@AdeptusCaeiusIII8 ай бұрын
@@jefferydraper4019 I'm not arguing counter to that. I'm just saying the finished product was good. Just not faithful. I am also in the camp that thinks it'd be nearly impossible to do Heinlein justice without the Snyder Justice League treatment. Or a long-form series. Could you IMAGINE Harsh Mistress, Time Enough or Stranger? I doubt ANY theater would accept a movie long enough for those themes. I'd love HBO or someone picking up a longer-form Troopers script for an 8-episode series based on the book. Like I said. I'd hobble to a theater for a seat, or just grab an over-priced sub to watch the series.

That's because instead of being like other online game, you need to work together and reach the common goal, that's get into the back of that drop ship. It's pointless to be toxic in this game, because you are not just hurting your teammate, you are hurting yourself too.
