My friends call orbital lasers “RL’s.” That damn thing would always chase one specific friend, who just so happens to be black. So we nicknamed the laser, “r*cist laser”

Oh yes. This game has one of those Soundtracks that are getting plenty of mileage outside of the game. I get so mad when friends tell me they turn of a game's OST to listen to Spotify while playing or whatever. Haven't heard them do that to this game!

It's also worth noting that the theme for each faction (plus the Illuminate now!) actually increase in intensity with PROXIMITY to the enemy. You can genuinely tell if there's an automaton patrol or bug hive nearby based on whether or not there's music playing, and the theme will grow in intensity as the enemy approaches, before kicking into full swing if you're spotted. The dynamic changes help the music feel like more than a disjointed soundtrack, it's YOUR soundtrack, synced to your actions.

I really love the more somber triumphant tones heard in the tutorial when you initially land, it can also be heard when you take out side objectives.

I remember hearing the soundtrack before I first played, and oh boy, I didn't like the extraction theme. But now, it is one of the most beautiful sounds I can hear, as it indicates that you just need to hold on for a few more minutes until this rollercoaster of a mission is completed, and you, your squad (and hopefully your samples) are back in safety. I don't want to talk about the impact the main theme had on me, all of dived with me and stayed in the same voice chat know that I simply get carried away and play the theme alongside the drop cutscene, and at this point, I doubt that I can get those notes out of my head...

I was so confused at first hearing that CoD WWII soundtrack like "that's not Helldivers 2?" but it did Make sense in the end

I am so glad someone put to words how I was feeling about this game's music. When you said that the extract theme is somehow more memorable than the main theme, I agree! Perhaps it is because it anchors itself in your memory even more than the main theme, despite being someone cornier and less developed. I also wonder if we can ever trace how important a game's soundtrack is to a game's success. Would Helldivers 2 still be as popular if the music wasn't so good?

nice video! as i first heard the music for the spread democracy objective it felt like i'd heard that Super Earth National Anthem before. But why?! Same phenomenon with parts of the music for the illuminate. Mostly those swaying strings. Is it Wilbert Rogets legacy that i find in the back of my mind or are there clear points of reference to other composers and composition? I would like to get a deep dive on that xD

Sorry I couldn't finish watching after hearing an anti-democratic statement from Fort Collins Productions not to be confused with the great Super City Fort Collins on Super Earth. I will be reporting this to the Ministry of Truth for inspection. If you don't mind I'm gonna go listen to the sound of Democracy from the Halo Three warthog run that if your videos pass inspection from the Ministry of Truth, and, or get out re-education should definitely make.
