Ironically, Geoff initially didn't want to do this one, as he felt he couldn't do justice to the evil Frollo - so glad that Layne persuaded him to do it! Hard to believe that Disney put this in a kids' film!

I'm glad he did. He's so perfect for the role. And I agree, when you start to look a little deeper into a lot of Disney stuff, some should not be for kids. Crazy!

@@jacquelinevanbierkactually there are quite a few Disney movies that aren't appropriate for kids .Aristocats, Pocahontas, Dumbo, Fantasia, Beauty & The Beast, & those with villains in them. I am sure there are others. I'm sure others may know of a few.

I read in the comments on either the original video or another reaction to it that the person who sang this for the movie couldn’t hit the high note for “she will burn” at the end, and wanted the composer to change it. The composer instead got the singer to work on extending his range so he could hit it. Then Geoff comes along, hits that note, and goes even higher repeating the line.

Right? Geoff can do anything , I love how he doesn't put himself in a box.

This is the villain's song. Sung by Frollo. It is considered the darkest villain song. I definitely agree. I personally don't like the movie or this song in the movie. But Voiceplay's version is amazingly awesome. They didn't want to do this song. However most of the Patreons kept asking for it even though they kept saying no. So they decided to go ahead and do it for their Halloween video. Voiceplay and Geoff Castellucci will release their Christmas videos later this month. Don't know when yet.

It took me awhile to realize that the other 3 singers were parts of Geoff's psyche. J None was asking Maria to protect him, Eli wants to destroy Esmerelda, Cesar was intent upon blaming God. It's was amazing. A seriously fun one is Drunken Sailor.
@karinwolf963910 ай бұрын
They all are excellent actors or (possibly) try again and again to have enough stuff to choose the best cuts for the video. And TheTony was always there watching, helping, assisting, giving hints & ideas... also did Layne obviously know exactly what he wanted to get from Geoff and the others. Funny to watch in the BTS how they horsed around afterwards to "unroll" of these horrible lines they had to sing (textwise of course - the harmonies were heavenly like always). 😊❤

This piece is just mesmerizing! I've never seen the movie and was not familiar with the song. It did not matter, of course, because it's Voiceplay. Absolutely brilliant. I'm going to suggest two seafaring covers to do next. Hoist the Colours from Pirates of the Caribbean 3 first. It astounded everyone because of Eli's rocking beast mode. It isn't the first time he's displayed that talent, but it exploded on the screen. Then Drunken Sailor. Same cast but totally different vibe. Then Shenandoah from Geoff. It's an old American folk song, and is sweet, soothing, calming, and beautiful.

Layne seems to have a thing about messing with Geoff's eyes... the fire in this one, and when he arranged Little Mermaid Layne got Geoff to do Ursula, and then put lavender lights in Geoff's eyes to show he/she was being deceptive. It's such a powerful tactic, but I can't think of any where else he's done it. Nor has Geoff in any of his arrangements. Not suggesting it means anything, I just found it surprising and interesting when he did it again here. It was incredibly creepy and powerful.
