Hellish Quart is a fighting game about sword dueling, in which the blades really clash using physics, and the characters use motion captured fencing techniques. Play as one of many 17th century warriors and use sabers, rapiers, broadswords and many other blades in single player campaign, arcade, or local multiplayer with friends.

@@Mark-yw3nw yes thay were in hungary too. It is called hajdú, not hajdúk. Hajdú means herdsman with weapons (my english is not that good), while hajdúk means more than one hajdú. This, im sure about.

@@Riot076 been out for the past two weeks I think. I've spend a few evening playing it with a friend for an hour or two. Judging by older videos, yes it's much smoother now but it still has it's funny moments where the animations look awkward but I don't think it's as prevalent as it use to be. Can't wait for the release!

@@neymarmessironaldo5881 Hajduks if you want me to spell it this way were many many things it's not just a hungarion thing but a cultural phenomeneon which shook all of europe which the turks entered yes they were kind of bandits kind of freedom figheters against turkish rule.But basically in Hungary in the 15 years war(look it up if you care)in this war the Habsburgs basically decided that they need money and the best way to make money is to take it from hungarian nobelity.And there was a noble named Bocskay István who didn't like this and rebeled and the Habsburg sent the Hajdús to deal with him but he made a deal with them that he will grant them land and nobility if they fight for him and basically he won with there help and granted the hajdús his promise which some of my ancestors were among.

Hungary had the biggest livestock in eu. They sold their animals to the westert countries, but somebody needed to lead the animal livestock there, and these people were The Hajduk: which means hajt =lead .. And because they were taught, strong people later they were hired for bandit works

A Romanian character (like Wallachian or Moldovan) would be a cool addition. There were quite a lot of them serving as mercenaries in Poland so it fits the game's location and timeframe nicely.

In the 16th and 17th centuries, the Kingdom of Hungary was famous for its huge cattle breeding. In Western Europe, Hungarian gray beef was very popular because of its excellent quality. Every year, 100,000 animals were driven out to Nuremberg, Augsburg, Vienna and other cities, even to Moravia. These animals were driven such great distances on foot. Cattle were valuable and had to be protected from robbers and Turkish raiders. The hajdú was an armed cattle herder. They were daring, brave and good fighters! During the Turkish era, many hajdus became Végvár warriors and were very good soldiers. At the beginning of the 17th century, the Transylvanian prince István Bocskai resettled most of the hajduks, they were given privileges and served in the military in return. Hajdúság is still an area in Hungary, there are several hajdú cities around Debrecen. There are Hajdúböszörmény, Hajdúszoboszló, Hajdúhadház and even more.

It looks great, but I already can tell that there will be a lot of people complaining that there are too many saber fencers in the game. I personally disagree, the more sabers the better. But it does rise questions about how will you make them distinct enough?

Even if they won't differ that much, it's good to have as many as they can provide, just for esthetic preference. Its important thing too.

The setting is XVII century Europe - sabers and rapiers are majority every-day carry weapons, but there are different styles, different weights, shapes, lengths. Also there can be completly different basic cuts, thrusts, special moves, stances. We try to make this realistic, so the devil is in the details and subtle differences. But there also will be longswords, palashes, walloon swords, basked hilt broadswords, early court swords - whatever we can add without totally breaking the setting. We make sabers first, because they are pretty straight forward to program. Parry - riposte is a system that looks good, feels good, and is understandable to non-fencers. In "stabby" swords it's more about defending in tempo, counter tempo etc. in longswords it is often about winding - those are more complex systems, and not that simple to program, or follow by non-fencers. Basically - we start with easy stuff :)

Im very hyped to see a Hungarian fencer in the game! I would like to offer a bit of help with the Hungarian language. Hajdúk is the plural, either referring to the Hajdú people as a whole or multiple persons. The correct word would be Hajdú. Otherwise, amazing job with the pronounciation and the accuracy of the clothing and sabre, just one last tip, the 'ú' in Hajdú is an extended 'u' or oo sound but Im being pedantic here. Again, good job and Im very excited to see this character in game!

That's great, however, "Hajduk" is not plural in Polish, Serbian or Romanian. Also, I doubt he was aiming at proper Hungarian pronunciation, he simply said it in Polish ;)

@234 thanks. Yes Thats true to some degree. Im mostly speaking of the bosniak people from the bosnia eyalet region who did lots of dueling because of the raiding and frontier guarding fighting style. Just like with the poles and cossacks. And still we're talking about individual skill. None of the characters in the game are meant as true duelist. Especially not hajduks etc. So all of the characters I mentioned could be used in the game.

@1:13 lost that footwork game, stayed too close after his retreating step, was still in the line of fire before attempting his next cuts and didnt retreat with them either. Just my pointless observation of their sparring, I just love watching other fencers spar :D

@@MrSzmilan "Hajducy" aka "Węgrzy" is a formation of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth infantry troops, organized in the Hungarian manner by Stephen Bathory in the 16th century. Poland owes the reorganization of the army and many victories in the war with Muscovite Russia to this ruler from Transylvania. The Polish army lacked good infantry in XVI-XVIIIc. Batory brought with him excellent Hungarian infantry units. In Poland, he also created a new type of infantry, the "chosen" infantry. To this day, Stefan Batory is considered one of the greatest Polish kings. Generally Hungarian culture had a great influence on Poles, especially in the sixteenth century, which is clearly seen in the clothes, wine, weapons and military of those times. The "Hajducy" were also the personal bodyguards of the Polish rulers and Polish hetmans.

Hungarians are not Turks. They actually come from the regions that are fairly near to todays central/western Russia and rather closer to Finland and Estonia. Also linguistically they come from the same language family as Fins and Estonians

Ну, не так сильно вы и ошиблись: снаряжение, стиль фехтования у венгров сформировался под большим турецким влиянием (с кем поведешься, а если точнее: с кем 100 лет воевать будешь - от того и наберёшься). Учитывая, что на конец 16 века турецкая армия ещё числилась передовой (одни только янычары, как образец регулярной и обученной армии, чего стояли), то подражать туркам не считалось зазорным: русские стрельцы, как и венгерские пандуры - и одеждой и вооружением копировали янычар (с национальной спецификой, но копировали). При этом венгры, в этом вопросе были более не привередливы. У меня возникла мысль, а если следующим будет именно турок? Но ятаган - под длинных кинжалов и фехтовать им проблематично, а сабли турок ничем не отличались от польских или венгерских (вернее первые пошли от вторых, но в игре это уже не важно). Так что добавление русских, сербов или румын также бесперспективно (особой изюминкой они не обладают, кроме того, фехтовальной школы они не имели: венгры "изобрели" венгерский финт - вращение запястьем при фехтовании саблей; поляки "кварц" - для дуэлей на "цивилизованный манер", про европейцев и говорить не стоит (рапиры, шпаги, дуэльные кодексы, братства Св.Марка, люди Браво и т.д.) . Скорее, как сказал автор, будет шотландский палаш с корзинчатой гардой (хотя он и у немцев есть в ту же эпоху, кроме того шотландцы сражались с кулачным щитами, а он говорил, что это поломает управление в игре - так, что скорее будут немцы или чехи).

Yo. I'm a regular Mordhau player and i'm getting sick of the punishes you get for blocking in the game, if you block to early you can be magically punished. It's not based on real physics. In real physics that's complete bullshit i block how many times i wan't to block i dont have to wait 2 seconds to perform an action if this game and no blocking punish i'll be in all the way.
