I CAN'T believe the father from first concern said that Yeongja is not married because she's big ! She's almost 50 years old, if she's not married, that's probably because she doesn't want to. There's more than one guy who would date Yeongja either for the good reasons or for the bad ones (she's rich, don't forget that). She looks so upset from that comment, she couldn't keep up with the topic..

The daughter in the first concern isn't ugly at all. She's actually quite pretty! She's still young and I'm sure she'll lose weight as she gets older like most people do; her father is just being cruel and it's completely unacceptable. Why in the world would you treat your child like that? "She's already ruined." That's not coming from someone who wants to genuinely help her. Her mother needs to step in and fast before this poor girl ends up needing therapy.

'She'll lose weight as she gets older'? Did you even hear her concern about her brother being 'favored' because of a burger. She isn't willing to give up the food despite the signs of sickness she's getting at 13. I agree that the dad is being way too harsh in the way he's getting the daughter to lose weight but if this method doesn't work, there's a high chance that nothing will.
@diamcole9 жыл бұрын
Benedict Borja There's nothing about his method that will help her, physically or psychologically. When you're verbally abusing or attacking someone, they're bound to feel high levels of stress and anxiety. People who are already drawn to eat large amounts of food usually do so as a way to cope with whatever it is they're feeling. So attacking her and making her anxious is only going to add gas to the fire and make her turn to the one thing she's most likely learned to use as a coping mechanism. What WILL work is, as a family, changing their lifestyle. If he truly cares, he will bring the family together, let her know what about her eating habits is unhealthy and how they will affect her in the long-run and he will join her in the change. That's what you do when you love someone and want to see them live a long and healthy life. You encourage them, let them know you want to see them succeed and make the necessary changes to ensure that they feel like they're not in it alone.
@Nothing-ll2sl9 жыл бұрын
+Diamond It's my bad that I said nothing will work, I was halfway through her concern and had to look at the comment section. I definetly agree with you on that one. What he said wasnt even a compliment. But if I had to classify him, hed be a stereotypical father who hardly displays emotion. I just hope it works out for them.For me, theyre both in the wrong and it was an unecessary to be brought onto the show.

+Benedict Borja Oh he's displaying emotion alright. They're just negative and fairly abusive ones. I just hope she's okay and his behavior won't have too large of an impact on her life. Personally I think she is jealous of her younger sister and she needs to get a life of her own. And also to have the nerve to treat her own mother like that, she had no respect at all. I hope she will reflect on her actions and change her ways.

There's a limit to how much you can tease a person, even if she's a comedian who is used to taking all sorts of serious or playful insults. Yeongja is obviously hurt by the tall girl's father's words in the first story. Her colleagues tease her all the time but we know they're close and they definitely don't say things to hurt her, but here comes a stranger who straight up tells her she's fat and that's why she can't get married. The guests, some of who are comedians themselves and would laugh and joke about anything, couldn't even bring themselves to laugh after hearing what the father said about Yeongja being unmarried. Neither could her colleagues who always tease her. She had to end the awkwardness herself by joking about marrying jungnam.

as an overweight girl i can relate to the girl in the first concern. her father was too harsh on a freaking 13 year old girl! he probably treated her like an adult bcs of her height but she is just a freakin kid! when i was her age, my aunt did the same things as what her father did and it just made me give up. i was so hurt emotionally and cried everynight. my self-confidence was low, and i was self-concious. i hated myself. a kid should not ever go through such things. the father is just ridiculous. mind my language but, its his fcking daughter for gods sake! what the hell, what do you mean by saying that she has no strengths? omg i feel like slapping him and also give a hug to the poor girl.

+NaChick100 Do you think that the girl would be on the show if her dad sat her down and tried reasoning with her? I really don't understand why you're even bringing up your situation because it's not comparable at all. The entire point of the concern is that the dad is mentally and emotionally abusing his daughter by treating her like shit; that's clearly not the way to go about expressing "concern" over your daughters weight.
@ilovememyselfnidw9 жыл бұрын
+NaChick100 saying that someone is 'ruined' is NOT tough love. there is nothing loving about that. you can just see how small the daughter felt when he said that. I don't think people realize how damaging it is to hear something like that at such a young age! My heart literally broke when I heard him say that she was ruined. He treated her like an animal saying she's a pig in her pig stay, he doesn't want to be seen out with her because he fears people will laugh. What kind of Father is embarrassed by very presence of their own daughter in public? I can go on and on. I know this is a bit late but I can't stand to think people for what ever reason would find this acceptable and sympathize with the father.

The father in the first concern will regret it one day, whether it be pushing his daughter to the limit and resulting in a huge incident, and/or severing their ties to the point where the scars he created will haunt her emotionally and psychologically. His choice in words and actions to show his "love and concern" are not positive and encouraging, but more or less abusive. She is at the age where she is growing and considering her height, as well as her bone structure, it is obvious she will stand out more than the average kid. It is people like her father that cause society to be so uptight about image/appearance nowadays. He is more or less saying he will accept and treat her like his daughter if and only if she looks how he believes a human being at her age should look like. Rather than putting her down and kicking her to the curb, he should reflect on his behaviour and realize that abuse will not change anything. After all, a person is more prone to change and compromise through words and actions of love and encouragement, and not from abuse and disgusted looks.

I don't get why the first concern didn't win. I think that the father is unappreciative of his daughter. She's 13 and is very vulnerable. That's the time where her emotions are all over the place. Getting teased daily is hurtful but what makes it even more hurtful is that the teasing comes from the father. The father is spiteful, rude and completely immature. He doesn't have any concern for her feelings. He doesn't have the sympathy and focuses on her flaws; like as if the daughter doesn't see her flaws already. A parent should be able to see beyond the flaws of their children and love them with all their heart. However, this "father" doesn't do that. He is rude, stubborn and completely disrespectful. He disrespected yeongja, someone who knows her flaws but chooses to have self pride, even if it is a small amount. The mcee's tease her but she can hit them with her cushion. The father, on the other hand, she can't because she has what he needs, respect. He needs to go learn some manners

feel so bad for the girl man and I can relate since I've been overweight since I was her age, the worst thing to see is people treating you differently from other children just because of your size. That dad is so fucked up I wonder if he even knows that your supposed to lover you child unconditionally and not just because of their appearance, cause that's what it is if she was thin/pretty ( she is pretty in my eyes and shockingly big) then he would love her and that disgusts me tbh. I'm 18 now and I hate my father more than anything but it took years for that hate/resentment to grow, she also seems like she'll grow up to hate and resent him. My heart really breaks for her cause he doesn't seem like he'll change. I don't get her mom either why is she's letting him treat his daughter that way and why cant she help her daughter loose weight ( she's only like 11-12 in western age). The first concern was seriously... wow... I don't know how to describe in words... I really feels so sorry for the daughter... I was in the middle of having my dinner while watching this... I even cried a little with foods in my mouth... I was thinking that her dad is really lucky that he had a strong daughter like her... she's only 13 and he's making her stressed about her weight purposely... I don't think it's a concern... when my brother was the same age as her he was also quite chubby but after puberty hits him he grew taller and became thinner, he didn't even do any exercise other than playing at school... it's not like she's excessively fat... although the liver fats was kinda a problem, if her dad helped her that won't be any problem... I thought if she's too stressed she might do something dangerous like suicide (forgive my wild imagination) calling her piggy daughter and stuff... especially telling his customers about her weight... giving her a scale to weight herself before everyone... that's really too much... and the second concern... waaaaa~ I'll just stop here... I'm all annoyed and frustrated again...

The girl has an adorable smile and she shines in her own way, I'm glad to hear that she said she's confident. "She's already ruined" Fuck you, If she's ruined then you is the one who's responsible for it Mr. I-Love-To-Bully-My-Daughter.

The first dad is disgusting. I hope someone tells him that. And if there's anyone in that family who's ruined, it's him. Why does this concern only have 135 votes? Seriously.

The first concern is disturbing, I mean she's not even that "fat". She has a large build, and is tall. But if her father does truly want her to lose weight he's contradicting himself. He's simply making her feel bad, and telling her to lose weight, but at the same time saying she's already "ruined" and that she "can't diet". If you say it's too late for her, or that she can't diet, then how can you also keep telling her to lose weigh without actually helping or motivating. He contradicted himself!

Im 13 years old girl....yes i at same age as her but im a little bit taller than her and i was at the same weight as her...my dad used to said that often but suddenly when i enter swimming and netball sport , won medal on competition....he started to praised me and say "please grow taller my precious daughter"....i think her father could change if she make some effort with her height......

The daughter in the first concern isn't fat! She's almost 90kg but she is tall, she has a large build. She doesn't look fat at all. Koreans always exaggerate their standards

i feel so bad for heavier people who live in south korea. i know it is a normal, every day thing to nag at people about their weight, but it can really hurt a person's self-esteem, especially if it's as bad as this girl's father. i'm honestly surprised she doesn't have an eating disorder. but extreme dieting and working out is the norm over there, which is just so harmful not only to your physical health but you're mental health, too. and i know not many south koreans talk about mental health, like it's just a thing no one talks about, which is really sad! a lot of these concerns on this show could honestly chalk up to some mental health issues like OCD, alcoholism (then again drinking is super common over there -- south koreans MUST HAVE STRONG LIVERS), etc. i know south korea has pretty much made a giant leap tech wise and they're now a first world country, but from what i've read, a lot of their customs are still... really behind. i can't say much since i live in the US and the media is constantly bombarding us with the ideal body and beauty, but we are slowly making strides to be more accepting of others and to love our bodies for what they are. i hope that this trend carries over to south korea as well. i love my k-pop idols, but some of those girls are truly unhealthy and a few have come forward to talk about the eating disorders they had developed bc of the extreme dieting and the need to be that ideal body type. eating one sweet potato daily or one for each meal is just totally unhealthy -- you are not going to get the vitamins and nutrients your body needs to thrive. and starving yourself is going to slow down your metabolism, which is going to make you gain more weight! i'm sure i'll get flack for this comment and people will tell me it's the culture and i don't understand (which is true, i really don't understand how blase people are about being so rude about someone's weight), but this is just my opinion. i've been reading a lot about k-pop idol diets and the eating disorders that spring up in that industry lately, so...

Sometimes I just wish I could step inside the show and give those thick-headded people a long lecture so they can go home with their sorry-ass. This is one if the few times I have tears of anger in my eyes with the first concern. Especially when he revealed her weight with some random customers. That dad needs to grow a brain and fix his shitty attitude if he truly wants to raise his kids? After all the girl is 'ruined'. Watch when he thinks otherwise in the future. I can relate so much to the girl since I'm 14 and also 176CM. I also have a big build and receive simular pressure from my parents EXPECIALLY my dad. I wish I could go over and talk to her to make it easier for her.

if the father on 1st concern teases her daughther like that, im pretty sure when she grows up, she wont talk to her father anymore, her father might become her biggest enemy and doesnt respect her father anymore.

The first & second concerns really pissed me off. The dad is a complete asshole & I feel so bad for the girl having live with someone like him, he's disgusting. Her mom's also a problem cause she doesn't do anything to stop him from ridiculing their own daughter. At first I thought "how could it get such little votes?" but then I remembered this is Korea & they like telling people to lose weight to become prettier 😒😒
@eyelandgal9 жыл бұрын
The sister in the 2nd concern is so lazy & manipulative, just cause she's 2 years older she uses it to her advantage. My brother is also like that, whenever my mom asks him to do something he tells her to ask me instead & he's always complaining about something even though he does nothing. I just want to strangle both him & the wretched girl. The younger sister should do what I do & say "fuck you being older, I'm not your servant!", what if something happens to their mom or the younger sister? Is the older one going to still wait for them to do things for her instead of doing it herself? It's so freaking disgusting how she has no remorse, she just expects that because she's older she should get treated like a princess. And I also think she's jealous that her sister has a man & she doesn't so she's trying to ruin her sister's relationship. I hope the younger sister wakes up soon & start living her life properly.

The comments towards Yeongja was unnecessary and I hate it when they mention her because its fricking disrespectful. I'm glad she she back and mentioned about the good looking actresses who are pretty and not married. If one wishes to get married then they will one day. Yeongja is beautiful inside and out. 2. If the girl is happy how she is then leave her be! She is young, she shouldn't be going through this stress. The Dad is a ... how the heck can you embarrass your own daughter like that? (I know this is old but I would like to see a update)

im sorry but im not okay with the first concern at all, i mean im crying just thinking about it but how can a father say that to his own child. i feel so bad for her, nobody is taking this seriously and you know what i hope for, i hope she grows up and becomes a successful good person and shows her dad how wrong he was. If there is any way for me to talk to her then what i would like to say is this: DON'T GIVE UP!!!!! right now it feels like nobody is listening or understanding how your feeling on the inside but it's okay because i understand and i know your trying your best to stay strong and it get's hard but dont give up, use his hatred to make you stronger become a good person that you wish he would've been to you, become some one great that he thought was impossible, make him regret for ever making you feel like this, stay strong and dont lisen to you hater father, because your beautiful and one day he will see it to but even if he doesn't atleast you should. Fighting :) i hope someone let's her know this

A father should be the first man his daughter loves...he sets the example for the men that will later on come into her life so she knows how a man should treat a woman but with the first concern I dont think that he is doing his job

That first concern though...I can't believe he is even a father of two kids. I would never treat a 13 year old like that. Saying that she was "already ruined" made me so furious. When she said he talks to the customers about her weight it made tear up a bit. I also don't like the fact that he's caring more about the son because he's given up on his daughter. She still has lots of time and many people have different body types, some people lose weight more easier and some don't. I really hate people who favour one kid over another. My mom favours my brother and it really shows which made me feel really stressed and depressed. I really want to go to their family restaurant and talk about how fat he is and laugh at him sooo bad.

OMG that girl in the first concern.. She is not fat at all. She has just a big build -_-" And I cant believe that her father was so rude to insult Yeongja. He should propably take a better look at himself :P In my opinion Yeongja is amazing and that she isnt married yet doesnt define her -_- I feel so sorry for the girl, in her place I wouldnt be able to survive that terror for even 1 day. He should go to visit a psychologist and stop abusing her like that.. Horrible

I feel like I can relate so much with the girl from the first concern! I'm 14 and I'm 176CM and I have a naturally big build. I was always tall but when I hit puberty I became a giant 😂😂😱😂. What that ignorant dad needs to understand is that she'll still have a big build even if she looses weight. You can't expect her to be fricking 40KG like some barbie. Come to your senses...!!

Dont even get me started on the first concern. i love korea but the weight issue over there is something i will never understand in their culture. of course its good to be healthy but i have seen so many concerns of parents degrading their children because of their weight and its disgusting. There are better ways of handling it. Im a plus size woman and im proud af. Nobody in America says shit to me about my weight, we support it over here. If the person is happy then who tf cares its their body. When i visit korea you best believe ima show up pretty af and plus size as hell. bYE.

as bad as it sounds, i'm also asian and my father has also done every single thing that the dad did to chaeyeon in the first concern. now with puberty i appreciate my curvier figure better but the scars from the verbal abuse are still open and they really result in one having very low self esteem... i guess its asians who are very conscious about image and weight and all...

In the first concern, I wish the MCs would make everyone, especially the dad realize the severity of the problem. Although it's not as evident right now, they have to realize that this can lay the foundation towards a lot of eating disorders and mental illnesses! If this continues, then she may really suffer from this, especially because she is in such a sensitive time period in her growth as a person and in her perception of relationships. They didn't address the core of the problem and that really bugs me, mainly because this is a show aimed at resolving problems. This huge error in problem solving can occur in other concerns and can affect a lot of lives! People may think that I'm over-reacting but I know how easily your life can be affected by self-esteem and your mental state.
