I don't have DID but I was abused (won't say more here just for the sake of not triggering anyone who might be reading, given the content of the video) and I spent a lot of years feeling like I had no intrinsic value but rather was whatever people wanted me to be and fearing making anyone mad by doing something that wasn't what they wanted. That (clearly) led to a lot of awful consequences and has taken years for me to feel even mostly okay. There are still times when I question whether I do/like/etc things because I'm trying to keep people from being mad at me. I hope you're taking care of yourself and that things are getting better for you.

I don't have DID, but went through this for a time, just a few months, but it was a unique situation where I was with the same person all the time, we referred to them as our companion, wasn't anything romantic or bad in anyway, just business. With one companion I ended up just doing what I thought she wanted me to do so we wouldn't get in fights and things. Then we switched companions and the new one would get mad when she could tell I was just trying to do what I thought she wanted me to do, so in order to avoid a fight I had to act for myself and do what I wanted to do. It really helped me learn to love myself, and she will always have a special place in my heart. I really hope you guys can work it out and figure out who you are and live for yourselves, because you deserve it.

I think we all have alters that we identify with in some way, which is interesting to me. I feel bad that you worry about getting in trouble for making decisions, though. :< Same with Bronwyn, but that seems to also be the way she was shaped.

So do I. For me it's just due to pretty severe anxiety that tells me anything I do is going to be wrong and someone will be mad, but sometimes I have trouble even moving stuff around in my own apartment when logically I know this is literally my own home and I can put my bag down wherever I want. It's a really complicated and shitty feeling, and I hope Little Bronwyn can someday be more comfortable!

We have an alter similar to Little Bronwyn - they just go by S and very similarly, change age and appearance to what was deemed as “needed” by our mind. We call them a chameleon alter, which they think is funny. For us we think it was that so many people expected us to be very different in various unsafe situations, S was created to fill in those blanks - it’s a very surface level change, and they are struggling to find a deeper sense of self. They still don’t really have a form they consider to be theirs, but they’ve found comfort in a couple different ones at the very least. S would like to share some advice that helped them if that would be okay - don’t be afraid to look like those you find safety and strength in. I often take on the appearance of the younger sibling of one of our protectors and while it’s not /me/ in the truest sense of the word, it helps me find some stability. Take it slow - you’ve got this 💜 S

I am almost 22 years old, I am married and have an almost 2 year old son... That quote hit so hard. I am completely like this. I have days that I just can't. I don't know what to do and I don't know what I'm allowed to do and so I just stop doing. It's very nice to meet you, I hope you are able to find your face, because I'd really like to see it. ❤️ You probably have an amazing smile, and extremely expressive eyes that have no absolute color, always shifting due to just how expressive they are. I suggest that if you can, pick a hair style like a fauxhawk that you can let down and it will cover your face, or do something like braids that you can fidget with. Personally my hair and eyes (blue :) )are my favorite things about myself. I love the lighting bolts of yellow I have around my pupils in the sun and I love having long colorful (blues, greens, purples; brown but very red naturally) hair that makes me feel like a mermaid.

There's a little in our system who used to be really similar to Bronwyn - she could look like anyone in the system she wanted and act like them. Her age could change whenever she needed it to (or she'd get small when she was stressed). She wore a mask because she also didn't have a face and a huge oversized hoodie (she still wears the hoodie now though). It took some time and trust and encouragement, but she found her face. She stays small now, but she seems comfortable - much more than she was when she showed herself in December. Hopefully Bronwyn can get things figured out too.
