That's the best video covering handheld focus stacking on KZbin so far. I'm keeping it for future ref. Thank you so much Rory & Laowa for the informative video :)

Christ know what you were watching .. I want to see actual pictorial evidence to back up what he says ,,, No point talking the talk if you aren't seen to prove what you say !!!

Thanks Ibrahim, Rory here, really glad you enjoyed it. Colin, they did include a short reel of my images at the end of the video (although Laowa's editors racked up the contrast on them for some reason). I would've preferred it if they had edited the video to use the photos to illustrate what I was explaining, as I'd intended, but I was not in control of that aspect.

@@macro_by_rory thank you Rory for your reply! The only thing missing on this video on my opinion, that would’ve helped me a lot, are the photos before stacking, I want to see the differences between the frames, I tried many times and helicon always comes up with the worst results, I guess the reason is my handshake, so seeing some photos before the stacking would be awesome 👏🏻

@@ibrahimkhalaf5400 I agree with you. It's such a complex subject and a much longer video showing the editing/processing aspect would be very helpful, as it's half the entire battle. I would make such a video given the time, perhaps one day soon.

Can I ask what flash you use to keep up with burst shot?

Where did you buy the diffuser?

The flash in the video looks like it cycles several times and at a different depth and width. Is that a setting on your flash, or just a casualty of digital video recording?
@macro_by_rory2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It could just be due to the video, I have the flash set to manual 1/32 (105) pretty much at all times when stacking.

Flash recycle time in high speed burst mode?
@macro_by_rory2 жыл бұрын
I use 1/32 power in manual mode (105) this should be fine for high speed burst at medium to wide apertures

How on earth do you honestly expect the target to sit for long enough to take enough captures to stack !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ??????. When most hardly sit for any length at time and you have to take the wind into the equation .. more often .. it will blow the target Out oF Focus Even thought i never do any pic stacking .. And all that guy did was talk a good game instead of actually proving what he said !!!!!!!!! I have the 100mm X2 lense . It's better than the Sigma 105mm Macro lense .. which i also have ,,, Also i never use a diffuser , What i capture am happy with .. Does anyone from the channel respond to people's questions , comments .. ?????????????????

Hi, Rory here. I'm sorry if you thought my explanations were a bit vague, I was given a pretty limited window to work with. Obviously some species are much more slower moving than others, but time of day is a huge factor in capturing insect stacks more easily (which I did mention in passing). I do much of my shooting from between 5 and 7am, when insects are sleeping or very slow, however shooting later in the afternoon or evening can help too. Wind has never been a huge issue for me, it tends to rise and fall, so I pick my moment, or use a clamp. If it's too windy, I just won't shoot at all. If you're interested in my work or would like to see some more of how it's done, or even message me directly, feel free to check out my Instagram macro_by_rory.
