Jump into the train station there (Taman Jaya?) and went to Masjid Jamek station look up some Dataran Merdeka, Masjid Jamek, Klang river and surrounding KL historical complex. Stop at Pasar Seni station to Petaling Street (Chinatown), Central Market this also walkable to KL historical complex. KL Sentral station with nearby attractions was Brickfields (Indiatown), National Museum (Muzium Negara), KL Botanical Garden (its free!) and walk further you are pretty close to National Mosque, Islamic Arts Museum and KL Old train station. KLCC stop to Petronas tower & Parks, Kampung Baru station for food and Malays traditional village. Get to the express bus and visit Melaka, Cameron, Penang, Ipoh etc. etc.Btw Have your best month stay here and please keep exploring!

Wow, this is so amazing! I love gardens so will definitely give the Botanical Garden a consideration 😃 The way it's looking with all these incredible suggestions, I think we're going to have such a blast here in Kuala Lumpur! Thank you so much ♥

Yup it's completely free except for the Bird Park and Butterfly Park I guess. Keep busy exploring guys, KL suburbs will be interesting to watch too.

adding to the suggestion above, stop at Dang Wangi station to KL Eco Park below KL Tower. this is the smallest forest reserve in Malaysia....also if yolove hiking go to FRIM in Kepong or Templer Park alternatively you can go to Shah Alam to the Bukit Cahaya Sri Alam Agricultural Park...also I-city (visit this in the evening).....

BTW that "sweet chilli sauce" you were referring to in your Nasi Lemak is called the sambal.
@TwojaysStepaway6 жыл бұрын
The sambal is soooo delicious. And it's the perfect level of spice too. I love it - it's definitely my favourite thing I've had so far (I'm a big fan of condiments and sauce, so, I'm happy the sambal is so delightful).
@TheMuslimPrince6 жыл бұрын
Good to know that you enjoy it! However, be warned that the intensity and taste of sambal varies from one seller / maker to another.....some may be mildly spicy, others may be too hot for you to handle. So you should practice caution by tasting the sambal from a particular seller first before mixing it all up in your dish all at once.

as you're actually in the city of Petaling Jaya (PJ), you can also get around the main parts of the city with their PJ Free Bus. They're in green. And make sure to specify PJ in your google searches if you need to know what's interesting As for food, there's an NZ couple tht stayed here in Malaysia for a bit and made plenty of videos tht you can check out: Chasing A Plate. You're near the city centre of PJ actually, as well as the old town part (it was planned as a satellite suburb town to KL but later upgraded to city as the size expanded. Hence why it doesn't feel so much like a city city yet with skyscrapers and such). Check out the SS2 area for the night market on Mondays (largest in PJ) as well as the eateries there, as well as the SS14/Digital Mall area if you want IT stuff. Actually night markets is an itinerant thing so there's one every night but in different neighbourhoods. another one that's reachable by LRT is the Taman Megah one on Sundays. Basically PJ doesn't feel like it's got much action because of the suburban layout but if you know where to look it's quite happening.

Since you intend to stay for 1 month in KL, Genting is a mountain destination that is not far from KL with mountain top theme parks and a casino. Or if you want a bit of kampung or village experience at the foot across the highway is Janda Baik literally meaning " Good Divorcee". Other attractions would be the oft blogged Bird Aviary, Tasik Perdana or the Lake Gardens with many attractions within it, Batu Caves, downtown KL with its malls and of course KLCC and KL Tower. The night life can be interesting for Westerners along Bukit Ceylon area. So have fun and enjoy your stay.

Usually it's normal to have packed malls around weekend, KL are generally more towards working class people, weekdays as expected are working days, less people on the street during working hour. Restaurants will be packed during lunch and dinner hour(12pm~2pm, 5pm~8pm)

You guys are staying in Amcorp Mall? Yeah, they have this super cool flea market where people are selling very old classic rare stuffs on every Saturday & Sunday. Looking at the date you uploaded this video, it is the week of Eid celebration where people are heading off to their hometown and KL are basically a little bit quiet during this time. You're staying a bit away from the city centre by the way, about 15 minutes away (without traffic), but you can always jump into the LRT at Asia Jaya station to get to the city centre.
@TwojaysStepaway6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we've seen the flea market, and you're spot on: it's really cool! Back in South Africa we also lived kind of 'far away' from all the action, so we 're used to travel - at least there are rapid train networks here (which I'm a huge fan of 😍).

If you have the time, hire a driver or get on an organised tour to bring you around Putrajaya, the federal administrative centre of Malaysia. It has magnificent buildings, beautiful parks, river cruise, shopping malls etc. It can easily be a full day trip. Also, do check out Batu Caves, which is a beautiful Indian temple located in a magnificent cave. You need to hire a driver to bring you there.

@veritascleric83786 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it really is a lot of fun. Sunway Lagoon is Malaysia's first water theme park and it's in the hearts of most Malaysians. The mall just beside it is also a fantastic place. They styled it after the pyramids in Giza. It seems somewhat occultic but I guess its owner Jeffrey Cheah (CEO of Sunway Holdings) has a thing for egyptology.

Hey Twojays stepaway! I’m curious about your channel’s name. Care to enlighten me on the meaning behind the name? There has been a recent influx of travel vloggers to Malaysia in recent times. It could be due to the heatwave in the Northen hemisphere or it could be due to other factors which I’m not aware of. Gleaning known facts from the vloggers who has been to Malaysia, I gather that you should try Petronas Twin Towers, Batu Caves, Bird Park, KL Tower, Jalan Alor, Bukit Bintang, Petaling Street, Central Market, Resorts World, Genting, KLCC park, Botanical Gardens, KL Forest Eco Park just to name a few. And yes, that thumbnail of you sitting on that kids ride click baited me to your channel 😂
@TwojaysStepaway6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the suggestions! Our channel name comes from the fact that both our nicknames are "Jay" - even at home people sometimes struggle saying our names so we've become used to using the nick names (our close friends actually refer to us as J-squared, as an example). And yes, I had to use that pic as a thumbnail 😎 Jannie is a goofball with a child-like spirit - that's basically what he gets up to whenever he has an opportunity! I'm also really happy ppl are considering Malaysia for a travel destination - there are many reasons why we chose Malaysia, it's such an awesome country (food is good, it's beautiful, the locals are super friendly & happy, it's not too hot, I can go on but suffice to say, it is awesome!)

Acar in South Africa? That’s a Malay word. Not surprised as there are some Malays who emigrated to S. Africa. Acar is like a sauce dish
@TwojaysStepaway6 жыл бұрын
Indeed ! And it is spicy and tangy and aromatic and amazing - we don't have it often, but when we do I'm always satisfied. We use it as a condiment, much like chutney or a chili/peri peri sauce. Really great way to add flavour and spice to a meal. I believe in South Africa we call it atchar? It is delicious.

Yeah, I myself now understand why food vlogging is such a big thing - every place has their own element which is amazing - I love how ppl across the globe can take a similar basket of goods and turn it into such completely different flavour options - like pork in UK/Ireland/Germany makes for amazing sausage, but then in Asia there are all these incredible stew, soup & noodle dishes! Love it 😍
