I really don't like it when people compare each other's struggles because it doesn't matter if to you what they're going through doesn't seem as big of a deal as someone who for example is suicidal, because they're not fighting that persons battle , their fighting their own and that's a big enough challenge for them. Just because someone else's struggles may seem worse in societies point of view, doesn't make it any less of a struggle for the person enduring it.

I have been going through the same struggle as you trying to make a change and still caring what people think. The only advice I can give you in your journey is once you make a huge change and show people you don't care what they think it will all be easier. That's what happened with me in front of my entire school and after that my journey to become my own unique person started. I'm a misfit now and I'm proud to be one. I've struggled with this. I think the advice we give to others is usually about the flaws we see in ourselves. That doesn't make it wrong, it doesn't make it us bad or hypocritical for not being able to follow it ourselves - it just means we're working towards being the person we want to be - that is the most important part. Don't be discouraged if you fall back, or can't stop caring about others - life is a learning process, and as long as you keep trying, you're doing good for yourself. :)

I also give advice but never take it for myself.
