Mike Flanagan is one of the best horror directors finally getting recognized more and getting his projects greenlit. He's been part of notable movies like: Gerald's Game, Doctor Sleep, Oculus, Before I Wake, Ouija, Hush, etc.. and amazing TV shows recently: Haunting of Hill House (personal favorite), Haunting of Bly Manor, The Midnight Club, The Fall of the House of Usher, and Midnight Mass Mike Flanagan would slip the Midnight Mass book into a lot of projects, always wanting to finally create it. Its the book the main character wrote, that the neighbor read. Its also featured in Gerald's Game.. and only recently (2020-2021) he finally got the greenlight to make it, after several years of trying, and its a fantastic religious horror show

One of my main complaints with this movie and someone who has a deaf sister is that vibrations exist and deaf people rely on vibrations a lot and this is a wooden cabin like house with hollow floors. She would have been feeling all those vibrations I'm not saying deaf people are super sensitive but they are attuned because they rely on other things and sound to queue them. So she would have definitely noticed some of those damn vibrations from people running around pounding doing certain things.

I found it ironic how Maddie is a thriller/horror writer, and then she ends up in this situation lol.. Anyways this film was really well done, I loved the play on her instincts when writing being used as a survival method for her to live. I also love the play on breathing, she forgot how loud her breathing was in that one scene and that worked out to the killer's advantage, then when he was behind her in the tub and she felt his breath on her neck from her heightened senses, which worked out to her advantage. I loved the power shift there, he thought she was an easy kill because she was disabled, and she fought for her life regardless of her disadvantage and survived! Very good movie!

26:40 Mel can’t be calling these characters dumb and saying stuff like this. The film revealed at the beginning that her brain can depict different endings to various situations m. She can also hear a specific voice in her head. But otherwise she is deaf and mute. Also if a random person came up to you saying “I’m the police, stand down” you probably aren’t going to ask a bunch of questions. The boyfriend was more worried about his girlfriend being missing and her friend’s house being ransacked and abandonded. I actually think the boyfriend put two and two together rather quickly. It’s easy to shout at him when you know who the killer is and just watched him terrorise this woman for the past 30+ minutes. The boyfriend has no idea what’s happening. He’s completely clueless
@LangkeeLongkee3 ай бұрын
The thing about the boyfriend is too, he became suspicious after the light was out of his face. He couldn't clearly see the person talking to him. In fact it's a common tactic used to assault and rob people, flashing a light in their face and pretending to be an officer because with a flashlight pointed directly at your eyes, with the glare you literally cannot make out the figure behind the light. We could see him cause, it's a movie and it showed us another angle, but he couldn't see that man wasn't dressed like a cop at first. And when he could see he started being suspicious.
