The big downside of owning multiple cars with only two garage spaces is that most of my vehicles get parked outside. They constantly get covered with dust and bake in the hot sun. So today, let’s provide some love to quite possibly the dirtiest car in my fleet, my 1990 Pontiac Turbo Grand Prix. Let’s get this thing cleaned up and detailed! Oh, and yes-I'm probably going to be selling it soon!

Do any of your cars have paint this bad? Anyone use car covers? I've had had a couple in the past that scratched my paint. Are there any good car covers? Maybe I should just build a hooptie garage 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

The key with car covers outside is to limit their movement. Get the most form fitting cover possible and cinch it down. Just be sure the car is clean before you cover it.

My 05 Acura EL has all the paint issues. Clear coat gone and paint faded in many spots, rust forming, both C pillars and a full inch or two strip below windows on each side all the paint just fell off lol I have a nice cover for the RSX with microfiber inside and weatherproof outer shell that's suppose to not scratch it on a windy day but I've only used it inside for storage and was 300 USD on sale. Ones that don't scratch are expensive.

My Subaru doesn’t have any oxidized paint......oxidized metal on the other hand....

If the car doesn't have really good paint, a few more scratches won't matter. I used the silver ones with the cloth lining and had no problem with scratches. Make sure they are made to order for your car, mirrors and all.

my 89 volvo 440 is red, and you probably know what plain red pain does. so its quite faded, but i plan to buff it up with wax like it was done to your car. i do wash it though to keep it from oxidising more, or rusting more as it has a few bad spots.

Car covers help protect the paint overall as well as the dash and interior. Scratches can be buffed out from time to time.

That was an incredible transformation. Your Grand Prix went from looking tired and old to appearing shiny and loved. Great work, Mario! What an internal conflict to sell this beauty when it's looking so good. I can relate with my four cars. It's a handful to keep up with them.... maintenance, cleaning.....and it's heartbreaking to have them in the sun.

It looks so sharp!!! Probably one of the best looking Grand Prix’s from that era, still on the road. I remember when the Grand Prix, Regal, and Cutlass Supreme were redesigned in 1988, and how much that I loved them. They were so high tech for that time. 😊

This turned out really nicely! I have found the optimal number of broken cars to be 4 if you own 6. So 2/3. It means you can drive 1/3 of your fleet any time! That’s “worked” for me 🤣

I had an 88 nova, single cam, and it was the slowest car I’ve ever owned... I tinted the windows, put 15” wheels, and an axle back exhaust, and it looked pretty cool....

Love this car. My first car was a 1990 Lumina Euro. Always loved the Grand Prix and esp the turbo version. Such a fun era of GM cars -, Bonneville SSE, Regal GS, Reatta, Allante…

So after hearing there was a black 1990 in town I contacted the owner, she mostly wanted it gone but theres a lot of cool history. Its in terrible shape but its still amazing. I hope to one day get it looking like yours!

Also I took a wrong turn going to my friends place other day and stumbled across 2 Nissan Stanzas or Multi as they're badged here in Ontario. One looked nice and clean other was very rough and looked stripped and used for parts. I was stoked!

I had an 89 TGP red with tan leather interior that was PERFECT. Its one of the cars i regret selling the most. I haven't come across one for sale in over a decade. I always thought it was cool that these were used in Days of Thunder. I read that when they weren't shooting the film, Tom Cruise was driving one of these around a track.

I dream of having a whole fleet of cars, and then I realize that I (single) barely keep two clean. My second car, which I love because where will I find another twin turbo 6speed 5 series, sits more than it runs - but it's due for brake pads this week and I've promised her she can be the daily for a awhile once that's done.

I want that car. But it's a little too nice for me. Yes, my '08 Honda Fit base has paint way worse that that. Would never buy another red car, particularly if it had to sit outside.

When I win the lottery I'm getting one of these. A abused one from the south that would have been scrapped. Ide have it painted the brightest red I could find, I would have a drive shaft tunnel welded in and convert it to rear wheel drive. Ide shoe horn a ls into it since the high end grand prix did come with a Northstar v8 it wouldn't be too un called for but I would have custom pontiac valve covers made the interior would keep its same style but the quality fit and finish would be stellar. Seats would be swapped out with a more supportive sear maybe out of a 90s corvette and would be reupholstered with really nice black leather with shade inserts. Idk it's hard to explain ide have to photoshop it.

I paid $450. Worth the price. This was for wash, paint restoration, wax, interior detailing, and engine detailing. Could've done it for less but I don't think it would've come out as nice. I've seen others charge more too...

Yeah, I don't remember there being that much orange peel on my parents' '91 Grand Prix, so there's a good chance that there's been at least some paint work done in the past on that car.

I do think the drivers side fender was resprayed. But I'm fairly certain the rest of the car has original paint. I could be wrong though!
