The original Yagher cut of the film is here on KZbin, for those who wanna see how it was originally supposed to be. Mind you, it's got what look like video game scenes to integrate with the missing scenes in the 18th century part, and the voices don't exactly match the characters, and it will show you a scene from the previous two films (just to prove that this is chronologically last in the story, seeing as the rest of the films don't follow the damn timeline (except part 7, which I think is the only good direct-to-video sequel)), but it's still a good way to see what was cut from the official release. I would definitely watch that version of this film if I was bingeing the first four movies.

Unpopular opinion: Hellraiser 4 was pretty good, considerably better than part 3 and way better than any that came afterwards. Not as fresh as part 1 or perfect as part 2, but very solid despite the studio tampering and questionable edits. The series is very legend and mythos flavored. There's an antiquity/history/religion type aspect to the cenobites and this movie explored this. They're somewhat Lovecraftian (immortal, inscrutable, extradimensional, connected to something ancient and largely impervious to physical violence). It was a solid choice. It's also felt more logical and serious about bringing the franchise into space.
@MortalZombie3 жыл бұрын
Yes! Thank you! My personal 3rd favorite of the franchise. Loved all the Angelique and Pinhead Scenes. Feel like Pinhead was done way better in this entry than in Hell on Earth when it comes to screen time and him being more in your face than a more mysterious force as the cenobites were in the first film. The Hellraiser series really should have ended after the third movie. The series has been going on for so long and after Hellraiser 4 every subsequent mediocre sequel has been released direct-to-video since the early 2000s. It's one of the few horror franchises that I think legitimately just needs a straight up remake. They should call it the Hellbound heart, like the novel. It's the only way I see this franchise ever having any legitimate quality or mainstream relevance again.
@michaelbolcato1923 жыл бұрын

@bigkmoviesandgames3 жыл бұрын
@@michaelbolcato192 yeah I heard about that and I think having a transgender playing pinhead is kind of interesting but the Hulu release has me somewhat worried because oftentimes that means that the film wasn't good enough for theatrical release but it could be that they're just not willing to take a major risk on it considering the fact that it's been a straight to video series since the early 2000s I am looking forward to it since Clive Barker's actually involved this time so I'm cautiously optimistic.

My personal favs are 1 and 4. 1 for being original and new, and 4 for being a self contained story, that was advertised at the time as being the wrap up to the series. It wasn't perfect, it had some problems, but on the big screen, and seeing how it played out while still leaving room for the other movies to take place in between it's three segments it was one of the better big budget horror projects of it's time. It was also easy to accept it as being in it's own continuity, because frankly, without showing Frank et all the other aspects of the rest of the series, it was easy to isolate as a stand alone. Am I mad you riffed on it? Hell no. You have to be able to laugh at the things you like, to accept criticism and be honest about what they are. You made a great episode and were as right about the movie as you were entertaining. You even taught me a lot about the behind the scenes events, something I normally ignore. I didn't even know it was an Allan Smithee film until you teased it.
