"You didn't just make up some random nonsense, it really exists! [...] I was trying to make it interesting to people with a brain" We need more of that in horror. That's one of the main reasons why "Hereditary" and "A Dark Song" are so good. As an aside, I reckon Clive nicked the "comfy shoes" thing from Peter Cushing.

I would give ANYTHING to be in a Hellraiser Movie. Judgement was a work of art and deserves to be pursued. I could see it turning into a Netflix Limited Series of 8 -10 hour long episodes per season. I want to see all Clive's writings brought to life by the greatest Horror writers, directors and producers that currently exist. Everyone who loves Horror loves Hellraiser. Pinhead and the Cenobytes were the beginning. The introduction of the Assessor, the Butcher, the Cleaners etc is a perfect beginning to expanding the universe. It makes for the possibility of characters in the universe beyond the classic looming cenobytes. I also have forever been craving a proper examination of Leviathan, what it is, how it came to be, and what other parts of Hell exist. The Leviathan Maze in my mind is an MC Escher Concrete Hellscape of infinite changing hallways. But what other dominios of the Hell dimensions are there? Are there other beings like Pinhead who have dominion over others pain in Hell? Other Hell Priests? Ones who attempt to contest his Throne perhaps? I could string together a ton of plot ideas but ideas are a dime a dozen.
@mikemckenzie40162 жыл бұрын

24:38 Not going to lie, it would be awesome if, in this idea, the new Hell Priest was actually Julia Cotton! Julia was originally intended to be the franchise villain before Pinhead skyrocketed into popularity, we never saw her die in Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 (just falling into a beam of light iirc) and it would be a nice way to tie everything back to the first two movies if this were the concluding film in the original Hellraiser continuity.

I wonder if part of the problem is that people hear "Hellraiser", look up the basic premise of it and get a lot of WH40k's more child friendly (ish) Slaanesh entering their mind as, if we're honest, it's a fairly popular interpretation of a decadent hell. It's a very bright and marketable look which Hellraiser, with all it's leather, chains and dismemberment isn't. Although the stuff in Hellraiser is probably way closer to what an actual realm of Sadistic intent made real would look like.

So ... firstly I am watching this waaaay later but felt I still had to make a comment about this. There are so many follow up questions I would have asked Gary that I am sad you missed. Firstly in the part before this when he was talking about Heather Langenkamp I would have asked if they sent her the same NDA as they sent to Doug I mean it seems like a fair question. Secondly that is a hell of a private story about another actor that he felt like this is totally fine to use. I mean to use the words "have he experienced something traumatic?" and then after describing how the actor reacted to it "it was great" that is such a asshole move I cant even. Here I think I would have asked why he thought this would be an okay thing to do? Among other things. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed the interview and I can feel his passion about the Hellraiser mythos and movies. I dont agree with all of his thoughts about it but his love for the franchiese can be felt through out the interview. Also that he is really proud of his move, as he very much should be but sometimes he really comes of as a little condescending. I freely admit that this might be me reading to much into some things he said. Interesting enough the name Weinstein (even though it is not the same one) is nowadays pretty tainted so it is also interesting to see this as a bit of a timepiece. Good work overall and I would not have done it better to be honest but I wish you could have pushed him a little more on some questions. Cause I think that would make it even more.

@singletona0823 жыл бұрын
Pinhead being stalked by kersty little whispers let slip that he has fallen and is now mortal, and can experiance suffering without any of the pleasure. And the whole movie we are lead to believe this is part of his punishment. The twist at the end? It is the auditor's doing to have gotten kersty involved both because he seems to restore pinhead.... And the ending shot. Kersty taking her place as a cenobite within pinhead's court. Not as endorser or even 'comsort.' as advisor and assayer to meter where when and how pinhead's time is best used.... All because 'we should not harm those who do not desire.... Their suffering is a shallow mockery compared to those who have given themselves to us.... And simply don't know it.'

Frankly for what it is hellraiser judgement is pretty good. The wctig was solid, what they got away with on not even a half million dollar budget was phenomenal. Hell even the writing is solid. I just have grown sick of hellraiser being explicitly hell and demons,when the initial vision was more blue and orange esoteric. And that isn't entirely the director's fault as they are simply going with the material given. I would have loved a return to the roots of the franchise. But all else to be considered? This is a far better movie than it has any right to be.

Ghost Cookie Well Heaven can be another dimension as well and with the whole thing of Heaven overruling hell or at the very least working with hell it introduces almost a concept of Yin and Yang. But I do understand why you be worried because usually the whole Heaven and Hell thing in media doesn't always go well but I think with Hellraiser with the question of morality and good and evil I think given to the right writer it could work.

The director is obviously delusional and suffering from delusions of grandeur, as he seriously thinks that's his writing isn't full of clichés and that his take on Hellraiser is akin to Barkers original creation. He seems like a nice guy but his films are absolutely dreadful and his Hellraiser films are among the worst in the straight to DVD era.
@Kaefer19736 жыл бұрын
@SpeedBoost From what I've seen and heard, nobody thinks Judgment to be actually good, but most seem to be able to agree that it's either the best Hellraiser movie since the original 2, or one of the best, though that doesn't really say much.
@TheSpawnfan6 жыл бұрын
I will stress this out forever, Pinhead and the Gash aren't judges of sinners unless Leviathan says so, and god has nothing to do with him: "Explorers from the further regions of experience, demons to some, angels to others" AHS did the Ten Commandments as a motif before Judgement and throwing some religious simbolisms here and there doesn't make something well researched, nor appear as though it was not thrown together ate the last minute, this is far from Barker's level of writing. If the Cenpbites were judges, the Face Cenobite wouldn't exist.
@MichaelAarons17016 жыл бұрын
+TheSpawnFan This is rather evident when it starts trying to crib from the ending of the first one with Jophiel being chained up and quoting “Jesus wept” before being obliterated. The plot is inconsistent since The Auditor is easily kowtowed to her, she’s unfazed by bullets, and yet could easily punish Pinhead yet there he is treating her like his next experiment and then blown away by being made mortal again. This contradicts the fact that A) he doesn’t look like someone concerned with what God thinks. B) Was a separate force from Elliot Spencer so who is getting banished and how much do they hate it? It’s not like a mortal body can’t be self-tormented. C) Pinhead is busy working with another department of Hell that rather doesn’t conform to the more ordered nature compared to Evangeline’s time when it looks just as much a macabre circus as her work in France (deleted scenes). And why do two detectives get trigger happy when a rational woman very clearly wearing a badge walks in on them at a crime scene?
@biblebadcopycatofcuneiform82105 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed Hellraiser: Judgement. When Pin-head is discussing "Evil" and "Sin". I've known all my life these 2 things don't exist. But Christians tend to not be very deep thinkers, or realize they know when they were babies, the same thing...don't exist. I loved the "Sin ordained by Heaven (and the Punishing God)." That was so cut right to the Biblical hoax. I don't agree that if you have a "Hell" you have to have a Heaven. Is such a limited view of thing. That's like saying you're either a Christian or you're an Atheist. There are not only 2 choices if you want to with religions. Pagan is a much better choice than Christian. They don't have a Satan or a Savior, but the Church has done such a smear job that Pagans tend to be a bit more quiet than loud mouthed pushy Christians. Or, you could go totally Free Thinker and bypass ALL religions. Or Pagan AND Free Thinking. Or even Buddha...which also doesn't have a Devil or Savior. Either way, I really enjoyed all of the Hellraisers, I dig the comments Pin-head by whoever plays him. I agree, you can make great movies for small cash. Something I'm really wondering about...through the years. Why do most you not comment about the Cuneiform Tablets? Where do you think the Authors of the Bible stole and twisted their ideas from? Where do you think the idea of Yeshua/Jesus came from? My only thing is... What's with all the f-bombs?

MunkkyNotTrukk We try to go for some level of variety within the genre-sphere, nice to see some appreciate it;p

Yeah if we just covered one corner of genre media it would get pretty boring, like McDonald's every day. Not to mention all of the crossover inspiration and similar fan bases. We understand things like Hellraiser isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, neither are things like Punisher or Batman-but like with the McDonald's analogy, not everyone likes hamburgers either, have to have a variety.

I only clicked on this to say I’m not interested in anything related to Hellraiser. Never seen any of the movies and never will.

iamlsusam try Hellraiser V Inferno, it's good, self contained story.

Who clicks on a video they have no interest in to complain about it? That's like walking into McDonald's and complaining about how you don't like fast food.

So you only clicked on this so that people who don’t care about who you are or what your opinions are can hear your opinion that we won’t agree with? Genius idea, sport.

xFEARx Darkness well said, I salute you. But I did it because I thought the creator might benefit from the feedback.

You might not be, but plenty others are. That is always the dilemma though. If we do too much of one thing, wether it be Marvel, DC, Star Trek, Ghostbusters or what have you not, someone will be fed up and lose interest. So we try for some variety, not every video will be to everyones liking, but others will. I'm sure many fed up with Hellraiser will appreciate upcoming Marvel and DC videos, while others will groan at the thought of more of that. So if you don't want anything Hellraiser related, feel free not to watch. Something more to your liking will come soon. But you're missing out though, because take away the Hellraiser skin, and these videos are really about the clash between the filmmakers intention and the bill-paying suits micromanaging and meddling. What happens behind the scenes of Hellraiser, happens behind the scenes of every Marvel and DC movie as well. Only you will never get a more detailed look at the realities of what transpires in those situations than in these videos.
