I'm a huge hellsing fan and it all started here. The basic plot is, in an utopic universe where Abraham van hellsing once tamed Dracula and put him in his service he founded the hellsing organization and aided Britain in ww1 and 2 with Alucard, the tamed Dracula. The remnants of the nazis (who experimented with the supernatural) return and start ww3 by bitting the British up against the Vatican who aided the nazis in ww2. The artificial vampires of the nazi army create ghouls (zombies) while the paladins of the Vatican are headed by Alexander anderson. Nuff said so far, enjoy

Technically in hellsing I believe natural vampires create ghouls when they drain the blood of people of the same sex or non virgins of the opposite sec but make vampires when they drain virgins of the opposite sex. However artificial vampires just create ghouls no matter what

Episode 3 has some of my favorite lines from Alucard. Obviously I memorized his latest letter to the pope, but "cheeky dickwaffle" is just fantastic. I actually used another line of his in D&D not too long ago. We were fighting an adult red dragon, and I was the only one not hit by a breath attack. "HEY DANDY-DICK! ...You missed!" The dragon got mad and knocked me unconscious in a single shot after that. Still worth it.

Another thing to note, this OVA anime had a crazy release date. In 2006, we got the first 2 episodes with 6 months apart, and then 7 months for the 3rd, 15 months later for ep 4. Episodes 5 through 8 came out on the same day 4 years later. Followed by another 2 years for the last 2 episodes. This series animation only gets better and better

Hellsing is an AMAZING series, one of my favorites. It's only 10 episodes, but each one is 45 minutes. There's two versions of it though, one that came out before the manga was finished that diverted from the manga's plot for obvious reason, and the canon accurate one, Hellsing Ultimate, that's the one you want to watch that this is based off of.

The abridged verion only glosses over it and doesn't really explain this so I'mma explain some of the vampire lore of Hellsing (trying to not mention what information IS given in the abridged series): The vampires in this universe all somehow originate from Dracula, who is still alive locked up deep in the soul of the vampire that goes by Alucard now and he is and always will be at the very top of the vampire hierarchy pyramid. A new vampire is made when a vampire sucks blood from a *virgin* human, otherwise they're turned into ghouls...hence the abundance of ghouls. Plus a vampire is careful about who they turn...hence the rarity of vampires. Vampires are nigh immortal in the sense that they can accumulate essentially the life force of as many people as they drink...it practically boils down to a reservoir of blood that every vampire magically stores inside of it which has to be all used up before it can truly be killed, otherwise they just regenerate (and Alucard/Dracula's "reservoir" is seemingly bottomless after like ~550 years of being a vampire). A stake to the heart only paralyzes a vampire (making it the best and easierst way to kill ordinary vampires), they can jedi-mindtrick people into mindless submission, garlic repulses them, the sun quickly burns up their life force, their bodies don't age...all the traditional vampire rules apply in some way. And Alucard specifically has mastery over all his powers that other vampires can only scratch the surface of (like turning into shadows for example, where others simply turn into mist Alucard morphs his shadows into helldogs covered in the eyes of his souls among other kinds eldritch horrors) or he has powers that other vampires simply can't do at all (Alucard can change his appearance, age and de-age his own body along with forming into the body of an accumulated soul or just flat out summoning it beside him...he's really just a conscious mass of souls that chooses to walk around as Ozzy Osbourne).

part of the context with the guns they use: the Jackal pistol Alucard uses ended up being too powerful of a gun for a normal person to be able to use. so its perfect for him and his vampire strength cus he can handle the recoil. which is why Seras has the anti-tank rifle as well. they go into more detain in the original anime but they touch on it in Hellsing Ultimate

TeamFourStar was & is generally loved because of the quality of edited animation (They would go & edit extra things in, change lip movements to match the vocals etc), voice acting, memes they added into their different series and Trolling of the community that loved them. I.e. Hellsing Abridged was released every Halloween for years, but before that, they were teasing that their next big project would've been One Piece. Some of us copium huffers had hoped even after the reveal (first couple mins of this vid) that we'd get a One Piece Abridged... I mean imagine if that crew would've gotten into it, maybe we'd still get some god-tier comedy weekly/monthly/yearly.. Father Anderson in the actual show serves as a foil to Alucard. In the show proper Alucard is a perfectionist who tries to keep himself contained. While Anderson is the complete opposite and embodies the "sanctioned psychopath" trope, where because hes "doing the lords work" he allowed to be as sadistic and manic as he wants as long as its towards the undead, like Alucard. The abridged version goes the complete opposite route and has anderson just be catholic version of Alucard.

The creators were doing these two at the same time as DBZA. This was their "we get to do the darker jokes that don't tonally fit DBZA" as a yearly Halloween special. Honestly I think it benefitted from the slower release because they gave themselves longer to write, Scott continuously improved his editing and picked up voice talent.

If ya guys liked the look of this anime, you can go look for Drifters. There’s no abridge version but the anime is basically this art style with famous figures like Nobunaga doing war in a fantasy setting. It’s pretty insane.

a often overlooked joke in the start of ep 2 is the mission in Japan being 99% done- that one remaining shown starts an outbreak that takes over the whole of Japan in Highschool of the Dead XD The French have never really been able to recover their reputation from WW2 in the eyes of a lot of European countries sadly. This was due to their own government selling them out when the Germans turned up at Paris with tanks and the PM stated Paris was too beautiful to be damaged by battle so issued and surrendering without a fight on the condition they did not destroy anything landmarks. To this day the very first comment about Frances military or combat capabilities even more so from the us Brits is often about making sure they packed their white flags instead of ammo even thou the French Resistance and Free French soldiers fought hard for their homeland.
