My dad showed me this song years ago. He took custody of me from my abusive mother and I struggled with PTSD, self harm, eating disorders, and addiction. He told me to really listen to it and I never felt as many feelings before then from a song. You get addicted to the pain. It’s all you know.

[Verse 1] I've been cast out, sequestered Pushed the fuck around Blindsided, beaten, locked up and bound Always thought I was human but maybe I was wrong I've been treated like an animal, since the day I was born The wounds that I wear are like the crown upon a king So heavy they lie, with all the pain that they bring My life's full of longing, but for what I'll never know I've been drawn into the fire as you reap what I sow [Chorus] Like a moth to a flame, my wings burn away When things are too beautiful, I smash them to pieces The more that you love me, insecurity releases I'll be the one that's to blame, so I'll set my soul to blaze Like a moth to a flame, like a moth to a flame [Verse 2] The ruler of the kingdom that ends up the pawn So tired of thinking of where it all went wrong Friendships, they come and go and sometimes they end Wouldn't dream in a million years that this would be one of them Faith in the life, belief 'til the end Failure's not an option, but the options exist I gave up my everything, I give 'til I bleed Take it all, take everything, just take it from me [Chorus] Like a moth to a flame, my wings burn away When things are too beautiful, I smash them to pieces The more that you love me, insecurity releases I'll be the one that's to blame, so I'll set my soul to blaze [Verse 3] You're pushing me, I'm pushing back Falling down, my heart attacks Compassion is lost No more hope, no more trust I tore it down and burnt it up All faith is gone Respect Devotion Dead! Disgust Hate Lies! [Bridge] I'm not a hero or a villain, not a god, I'm just a man Staring through the hourglass at the footprints in the sand I'm stripping off my armor, my battles here are done Wave my white flag to surrender And fly into the sun [Chorus/Outro] Like a moth to a flame, my wings burn away When things are too beautiful, I smash them to pieces The more that you love me, insecurity releases I'll be the one that's to blame, so I'll set my soul to blaze Like a moth to a flame Moth to a flame Moth to a flame Moth to a flame

people say metal can't convey a message. . they're so wrong, , this song and. . hush.. very powerful
@neoplasmax8 жыл бұрын
It's really the only genre I find solid and deep messages because it's the only genre that can do extremes.. from soft ballads to anger fast within the same song... it takes a gift to be able to write powerful songs where the instrumentals alone can touch you in the same way words can without even hearing a single lyric... This factor alone even though I do like some rap, can't feel it as powerful as rock can present it..

Hellyeah & Mudvayne have been my favorite bands since I was in grade 9 in 2004. This band has helped me so much throughout all the foster homes, group homes, and alcoholic, physical abuse i endured from my mother and the neglect from my father. A pattern emerged from the abuse and i fell in love with a physically abusive fuck like the guy in the video but so much worse. I'm just glad these guys released the music they did when Vinnie was still around. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I got put in a group home when I was 13 and pregnant. Bounced around a bunch of those until I was 17 then got put in a foster home. When I turned 18 I finally got my freedom. After that I've done a lot of time in jail. I'm 42 now. My advice to u is don't let what you've been thru hold u down. Ur experiences can make u stronger. Know that ur not alone I've been there too. Make life ur bitch and kill it girl!❤
