DutchMilkMaid I’m an occasional volunteer for events like this in the UK and it’s insane the amount of planning and organising that goes into it - the safety aspect especially is paramount! Nothing is more satisfying than seeing an event that you’ve been a part of go off without a hitch and to see everyone enjoy themselves, competitors, animals and spectators alike!

@@amyfinch1112 oh and i think there are numbers on the jumps and stuff like that to help them if they forget, and there are people on the sides which would tell you which direction. also i'm guessing you would be able to see hoof marks on the ground? not sure but it could be a possibility.

Yes. Whistles are blown to let people know when a horse is coming.

Your lungs are incredible!!! Never heard you out of breath! In my late 40s I learned I have a vocal cord disorder so I finally understand why I was out of breath riding cross country as a kid- it doesn't open to allow breathing every time. Anyway yay you! Great job. Thanks.

That was Class 🌟🌟🌟⭐ I have just re-watched this. Sharpie has come such a longway in 12 months. To think of some of his crazy longones and how you had to keep his head up. Don't think we heard one tap of a hoof. He will learn so much from that run. You 2 are on a path to something special.

Wow, Sharpie handled the crowd very well. Such a good learning experience for our favourite redhead. I do hope everything went well with Riot Gear and Sharpie last week. I didn't get to catch the end results, but I'm sure they did fine.

I can no longer ride because of back trouble, so when I searched and found this video, it felt (to a point) like I was experiencing your ride. Of course, I never jumped at this level by any means. I teared up watching this run- Sharpapotomus has had a real breakthrough in his confidence with skinnies and corners. He absolutely killed it, handled the big atmosphere and hardly broke a sweat!!! My Favorite Sharpie!!! Warhorses are worth it!!!🏆🧡👨🏻🦰🐴

Sitting to a gallop is acctually pretty dangerous because it can hurt their backs its better to stand up in ur stirrups

Great ride! As usual! Awesome horse! He is SO striking! His red coat against that ultra green grass! That's a great course too! What would make it tricky for a green jumper is when it's really sunny, like that day, is all of the mottled sun/shade all over the ground! You really need to have the horses trust! All of those things can look really odd to a horse!

If you watch from 4:53 to 5:00 you can really see how his strides changed before that jump. Like, those two strides before the jump became really long and in my opinion, strong! Edit: if you can’t tell the difference try looking at his shadow!
