People should know that many paintings and artifacts like the one Brags about by this woman are none but recent and fake. They are not ancient what so ever. They are part of distortion campaign of African stolen History. The Current so called Egyptians are settlers like their counterparts in North America represented by this propagandist talking.

I've been a lifelong rockhound. Never interested in artifacts until a few weeks ago. Turns out that piles of jade I've collected off of a few beaches are actually artifacts. Tools, jewelry and art of all kinds. I've been up until 3am for a month now. I've identified almost 400 worked pieces. Nice to see a talk like this on TED.

In this evocative talk, Egyptologist Sarah Parcak gives a riveting tale of her excavation experience. She also urges the common people like us to join her mission of finding the priceless treasure hidden beneath our feet. What she is doing is commendable and certainly, she needs more support to achieve her ambitious dream of documenting the archeologically significant treasures of our earth. Highly recommended.

To be fair, American anthropologists and archaeologists have plundered and destroyed a lot. Indigenous Peoples are still having our communities exploited, our knowledges disrespected and dismissed, our stories and ceremonial objects appropriated and displayed without context. Our traditional ecological knowledge and our sacred sites are sometimes designated as "world heritage" within the global village, but our worldviews are given more airtime by Ancient Aliens than they are by mainstream scientists. We are reduced to "culture" within the gaze of a supposedly unerring, objective, and superior Western "science" - yet the West seems to have little awareness of how objectively harmful this process has been for us, how much this has cost everybody else but those who benefit. We know where many of these ancient sites are - we just aren't telling you. We know that nothing good will come of it because it's just another frontier for science - new avenues for building the careers of Western academics on the backs of impoverished Indigenous folks. Most see only what they want to see, only that which is useful to them in the academic industrial complex: publish that next paper, submit that next grant publication, build that resume, produce, produce, produce! What most Indigenous Peoples want to see from archaeologists and anthropology is a focus on building healthy relationships. Build respectful, informed, consenting, and reciprocal relationships with the people who belong to these sacred sites before taking it upon yourself to "discover" something that was never lost or missing in the first place. Most of us will be familiar with the notion that knowledge is power, but this presentation seems to be forgetting "whose" knowledge counts as knowledge - whose knowledge is considered powerful - who is entitled to be arbiter of the known and unknown: the lost, the found, and the discovered.

I have some doubts. Modern version of grave robbers? Is stealing something old and putting in a fancy far away museum in London, Paris etc. not just an adorned form of grave robbery? When archaeologist start to dig, they also attract 'private competitors' who are there to steal for a quick buck, or to destroy out of religious fanaticism.

I find this heading a contradiction of terms 'Help discover ancient ruins...' yet you tell people that 'Atlantis is fake and cannot be found - unlike the clitoris' - Plato himself talks about this famous city, yet because YOU haven't found it yet you call it fake. I find this to be highly egotistical that you set yourself above the likes of Plato in discussing ancient truths (I'm pretty sure he was much closer to the truth than anyone in modern history). You also recently 'discovered' structures in the Rhicot Structure in the Sahara, yet Jimmy Corsetti already talked about these exact same findings 4 years ago... Atlantis maybe? It's the right shape and description - but then as you said, there has been zero evidence of any city being discovered that resembles Atlantis - erm... unless you discover it first? Maybe you should go and watch more of his videos and you may get to discover more ancient secrets in Egypt and surrounding lands. You should work for NASA - they discredit anything that is true until THEY discover it first or until they can no longer keep the secret hidden - deny, deny, deny... keep up the good work.

seeing that thumb-print in the pottery must have been amazing. a strong image from the past. But even if the Pyramids were built by humans, they sure weren't quarried with bronze and copper tools. They aren't tombs, or memorials to the dead. And they weren't built less than 12,000 years ago.

This woman is either a liar or she has been forced to lie, because its a fact that copper tools are far too soft to chisel rose granite, which is what the majority of the kings chamber and the coffer within it are made of. There are no chisel marks on the perfectly level surfaces. Perhaps she would also like to explain how the Egyptians who have been described as being nothing more than a farming community with no knowledge of the rope or wheel managed to quarry and transport massive blocks of stone some weighing over 70 tons all the way from Aswan which is 500 miles away from the pyramids.
